Work Text:
Their white sheer curtains were blown up gently by the wind, swaying while sunlight shone through their living room gently, the balcony's door was wide open, ventilating the apartment with fresh air. Akaza laid on the sofa, his body curling along the L-shape of the furniture as he dozed. Kyoujurou was drying his hair with a towel, he walked out to the living room, gazing at Akaza who was bathed in the warmth of the sun, pink hair messed up by the wind, his lips slightly parted as he slept peacefully.
Akaza stirred in his sleep when he felt smooth fabric covering him, the scent of Kyoujurou's blanket woke him, he squinted through his sleepy eyelids, his heart quickening its pace when he saw a familiar blond leaning over him, wrapping him in his blanket, and placed a kiss onto his temple, stroking gently at his scalp. Kyoujurou smells like the lemon-scented body wash, his presence alone was enough to make Akaza's face heat up, but at the same time, it was so comforting, that Akaza doesn't want him to leave even for a second.
Kyoujurou might've heard Akaza's wishes, as he sat down on the seat next to Akaza's head, his head turned, facing at the view they could see from their apartment. Akaza's hand reaches for Kyoujurou's, which was still in his hair, and pulls it down so he could place his lips at Kyoujurou's knuckles. Kyoujurou doesn’t resist, but he tightens his hold on Akaza's hand, just slightly, although that enough was able to let Akaza know, that he wants to stay with Akaza, that he wants to hold onto him, just as much as Akaza wants with Kyoujurou.
Akaza slide over, wiggling his way to let his head rest in Kyoujurou's lap, he was more awake as he stared up at Kyoujurou's face, finding his own reflection in Kyoujurou's eyes. He's looking at me. He thought, a bit too happy about it, as he let his emotion to appear on his face. Kyoujurou's thumb was pressing gently at Akaza's bottom lip, which made the male to grin even more. "What's so funny?" He asked, unable to hide a smile, not that he really needed to. "I can see you looking at me," Akaza replies, a content sigh leaving his lips when Kyoujurou cups his cheek with his palm. His hand feels so strong, so safe, so comforting, he presses a hand over Kyoujurou's, sinking into the touch.
Kyoujurou lowers his head, looking deeply into Akaza's eyes that almost represents the color of the sky as clear as the one outside of their balcony. "And I can see you, looking at me too," Kyoujurou whispers over him, his lips moving in a way that Akaza could've believed that he was teasing him, provoking the male to grab him and pull him down for a long, passionate kiss. Instead, Akaza could only look into the golden irises, he would've described its color like a flame's, but Kyoujurou was Kyoujurou, someone much more tender and gentle. Others would've seen him as passionate, loud and enthusiastic, sure, Akaza loves that part of him. Although, there is something much more wonderful lying behind those intense waves of heat, perhaps, the early morning sun? No… It's more like how the ocean feels warm and soothing on your skin, or the fireplace of a wintery day, the blanket during a rainy night, like…
Like the smile of someone you love, it may feel intense at times, with subtle relief and happiness behind it. The smile that spreads warmth through your chest and eventually, you follow the joy of it.
Kyoujurou is always smiling. Still, there was a smile that is just for Akaza alone, the way his brows relax, his eyelids forming an expression that almost looks like longing, the blush on his cheeks that becomes even more evident at his ears, the way that his teeth would peek from behind his lips, a rare grin that Akaza believes that not many sees, especially with the color that dusked over his face.
Akaza's hand reaches for Kyoujurou's cheek, the skin below his fingers reddens, then Kyoujurou was wearing an expression that Akaza still takes moments to fully take in. Was it longing? Was it relief? There's a hint in Kyoujurou's eyes, between cherishing, and fear.
Fear of losing. Fear of letting go.
Akaza propped his body up with his elbow, pressing his lips over Kyoujurou's, he watched the other man shut his eyelids, arms wrapped around him, one hand behind Akaza's head, as he kissed back with just as much yearning. Akaza knew, there was something unpleasant swarming in Kyoujurou's chest, yes, even Kyoujurou, someone who shone so bright, brighter than anyone Akaza had ever seen, has his own gray storms clouding over his clear vision.
"I love you," Akaza murmured as his lips left Kyoujurou's, something flashes in Kyoujurou's eyes, as if those words had shaken away the fear and hesitation in Kyoujurou's heart. Kyoujurou sighs, he lowers his forehead onto Akaza's, a smile tugged at his lips, he opens his eyes once more, his dazzling irises regaining their radiance.
"I love you too," he whispers, and they stay in each other's embrace for a moment.
The wind grew strong for a second, the curtains flutter once more, they would've thought that it looked dreamy, if the two weren't so absorbed in each other. Akaza remains still in Kyoujurou's arms, their foreheads still in contact, as if they are trying to listen to the other's thoughts and wishes. It might've been too loud in their head, or way too quiet, since right now, they could only listen to the other's breaths, their heartbeat thundering in their chests, they could only focus on the person in front of them.
It rang deep in their hearts, their feelings for each other. Like the leaves that threaten to leave the branches as a breeze pass through them, or the curtains that fall once the wind stops blowing. It's wonderful, even with the pain and anxiety that comes along, they loved every part of it.
That's it, that's love.
The more you want to hold onto someone, the more agony it brings when you part. That was what Kyoujurou was afraid of, afraid of the parting that will come. And that tears at him so painfully, like a thread snapping into two, a thin strand where it had been torn off still reaches out the other. It's inevitable, Kyoujurou knows, he's still, so, so terribly saddened by the thought of it.
So at the moment Akaza mutters those words to him, the storm that riled up the ocean had calmed, as the slightest ripples fade out, it reflects the clearest sky. He could see Akaza, right here, right now, in his arms and holding him with so much love and care, it was overwhelming, the happiness was overwhelming.
That no matter what happens, he could always remember that they, at least, had been together.
And again, his lips find Akaza's, who simply savors it. He cups Kyoujurou's face while they sucked at each other's mouths, lovingly and full of adoration for each other. Akaza sat up, pressing a hand at Kyoujurou's chest lightly and settled himself in Kyoujurou's lap, tilting his head to take Kyoujurou's lips in a slow, practiced pace. They part to breathe for air, then Kyoujurou nudges his nose against Akaza's cheek, causing the male to chuckle, placing a peck at Kyoujurou's face, he faces him and stares, like he was asking for permission to smooch him again.
Kyoujurou wears a smile, his hands that were fixed on Akaza's waist moved up to caress his cheeks, brushing his fingers at the locks of pink behind Akaza's ear, revealing the black roots that are slowly starting to show. Akaza's arms were around Kyoujurou's neck, they fit with each other like the halves of a split fruit. They close their eyes, it was almost like they had memorized their partner's lips, finding their way to the other pair with ease. Inhaling, they could smell each other's scents, they had grown so familiar with, now it's blending together, it's hard to tell if it was their own, or their partner's. It was like they are becoming one instead of being a pair, always knowing where to reach to intertwine their hands, always remembering each other's pace, always finding the perfect space between them, always the perfect piece for the other. Even when things go wrong, even when they would feel so terribly stressed and thought being away from each other was the best for them both, they'd always find each other, and revive the fruits of their affection for each other, to add another support beam, to let it grow stronger and even more ravishing than before.
Akaza is now resting next to Kyoujurou, his head leaning onto Kyoujurou's shoulder, Kyoujurou's head was tilted towards Akaza's direction, a lock of blond hair tucked behind his ear. His fingers locked with Akaza's, whose knees were pulled to his chest, fitting himself onto the sofa, and Kyoujurou's legs propped up by the footstool. He peers up at the blond, whose eyes meet his, surprised, he could only grin. Kyoujurou's hand left Akaza's, ruffling at Akaza's hair, while the other took the opportunity to slip his hand behind Kyoujurou, catching the other man's waist. Kyoujurou pulls Akaza in to smooch his forehead, his fingers still fondling with the pink strands. The other melts against him, relaxing and enjoying the touch.
"I love you."
Akaza perks up at Kyoujurou's voice, shade of red dusting his face in an instant. Kyoujurou's eyes were clear, a smile that brings reassurance to both of them, his voice sounded so certain, so sincere. Akaza was about to give Kyoujurou a kiss, only to be pushed down by the blond, looming over him and pining Akaza's shoulder to the cushion. Akaza's smoothed his fingers over Rengoku's cheek, tracing his jawline, he was biting on his bottom lip to stop his grin from spreading as he thought of a tease.
"I think you love me too much, Kyoujurou," he says, grinning widely. Kyoujurou huffs, his hands grabbing at Akaza's face, he moves his lips over Akaza's, who returns it by parting his lips and laying his fingers on Kyoujurou's nape, scraping at the skin lightly and tugging at the back of Kyoujurou's T-shirt's collar. Akaza opens his mouth to let their tongues meet, before returning to a more tender kiss, to just have the other's lips over theirs.
After they break the kiss, Kyoujurou slides down to Akaza's chest with his ear over his heart, while Akaza buried his hand in Kyoujurou's blond hair, he twirled a strand around his finger, then let it fall again.
In this quiet afternoon, Kyoujurou lets himself sleep in Akaza's hold, finding peace in this moment.
No matter how far apart the sea and sky are, they meet at the end of the horizon.
