Work Text:

Shinsou was tired.

Tired of new foster homes, tired of new people, tired of the insults, tired of school, tired of his friends, tired of his teachers, tired of himself. He just wanted to sleep, was that really too much to ask for?!

Tears dripped from his dazed eyes as his bones felt heavy and aching, refusing to let him move from his dorm bed. He should get up for class already, but he just couldn’t bring himself to do it. If he could, Shinsou would laugh. After all this time fighting for a spot in the hero course and finally getting there, and it turns out to be a waste of everyone's time because he couldn’t force himself out of bed.

Lost in his thoughts, Shinsou doesn’t register the knocking coming from his door. He couldn’t hear the worried voices of his friends who had rushed over during their lunch break to check on him. He lets his thoughts fade while he stares at the wall with dull, exhausted eyes and just floats.

When a few of his students rushed into the classroom just after the bell rang, Aizawa was ready to chew them out. His (favorite) student, Shinsou Hitoshi, hadn’t shown up in class at all that day, but considering the fact that he wasn’t feeling well the night before Aizawa was willing to let it pass.

“Shinsou hasn’t left his dorm since last night!” Midoriya explained.

Uraraka nodded in agreement, “Yeah! And he hasn’t come out to eat or drink anything or responded to when we went to check on him!”

Aizawa - although now worried about the teen - told his students, “I will check on him myself after classes finish, now get in your seats.”

It was obvious that they wanted to protest, but one glare from their teacher made them rush to their seats.

Aizawa couldn’t stop thinking about Shinsou throughout the lesson. His rare fatherly instincts (dubbed ‘Dadzawa Mode’ by his dearest husband, Yamada Hizashi) were driving him wild. Was the purple haired teen okay? Was he sick? Did he have a fever? Should he bring Recovery Girl? Does Shinsou need to go to the hospital?!

Even with those thoughts running through his mind, he continued the lesson as normal.

When Aizawa finally made it to Shinsou’s room, he felt anxious as he knocked on the door and called out, “Shinsou. I need you to open the door.”

The teacher waited for a moment trying to pick out any sounds of movement from inside, but he could hear anything. Aizawa tried knocking again, “Shinsou!” he called.

With a worried sigh, he pulled out a master key and unlocked the door, waltzing in.

Shinsou’s room had been boring and dull when he had moved in. His classmates had helped decorate it in darker colours and various cat themed ornaments and photos. On his bed was a gift from Aizawa and Yamada, fluffy pillows, soft sheets and big, heavy and warm blankets.

However, Aizawa couldn’t focus on the room at the moment as Shinsou laid limp on his back on top of the covers, chest rising up and down as he breathed. His head was turned to the opposite wall, giving Aizawa a perfect view of his blank and heavy eyes.

Aizawa knelt by the bed and reached out to his (son) student, “Shinsou,” he spoke softly, “I need you to look at me.”

Shinsou didn’t respond, causing Aizawa to worry more. After a few more attempts at rousing Shinsou, Aizawa scooped the skinny teen up into his arms and began his way down the stairs. A few of the students looked over to the duo, but looked away at his dark expression. Aizawa walked into the teachers dorm and started the journey up to his and his husbands room.

Yamada looked up as Aizawa entered the room carrying their student, “What ya got there, Shou?”

Aizawa sighed, “Can you go get Recovery Girl?”

Though confused, Yamada nodded and rushed out of the room. Aizawa laid Shinsou on his bed, pulling the covers over the teen as he stared in the blank and unresponsive eyes.

Minutes later, Yamada came back into the room, Recovery Girl not far behind, “What seems to be the problem now?”

“Shinsou has been unresponsive for the entire day, can you fix it?” Aizawa asked.

The old lady began to check over Shinsou, before finally turning back to the couple, “It’s not an illness and he’s not hurt. I’d say that he’s exhausted but instead of sleeping, his mind just shut of his ability to move or think at the moment.”

Yamada jerked back in surprise and Aizawa just looked sad, “What do we do?”

“Bring him back to awareness and then help him fall asleep. Physical contact and comfort would help the best in these situations.”

Aizawa nodded and thanked the old lady, going to lay down by Shinsou’s side. Yamada closed the curtains and crawled up to Shinsou’s other side humming a song as his husband rubbed their students fluffy hair.

It took over an hour of songs and soft touches before Shinsou finally started to blink. The purple eyed teen looked around in confusion before spotting his teachers, “What’s going on?” he whispered.

Yamada pulled out a water bottle and helped Shinsou up, holding it to his mouth. Shisnou took big, grateful gulps as Aizawa explained, “You’re exhausted and need to sleep more.”

Shinsou huffed out a laugh, “Don’t I know it.”

“I mean it.” Aizawa patted the mess on top of his students head, “Sleep, Problem Child.”

“I thought that was Midoriya?” Yamada blinked, causing Shinsou to laugh tiredly again.

Aizawa rolled his eyes, “Yes, but they’re all Problem Children. And you,” he turned back to Shinsou, “we are going to be talking about your problems after you get at least eight hours of sleep.”

Shinsou let out a whine, “I don’t have problems.”

“Uh huh.” Yamada exclaimed, obviously not believing a word the teen said.

Shinsou grumbled as Aizawa gently helped him lay back into the bed, “ Go to sleep, Hitoshi.” Shinsou hummed before finally falling into a much needed sleep. Aizawa and Yamada continued to cuddle the teen (even though Aizawa will refuse to admit that it was cuddling, shUT UP HIZASHI) until they eventually fell asleep themselves.

Shinsou woke up feeling warm and more well-rested than he has felt in years. Aizawa was hugging him to his chest, speaking to who Shinsou could only assume was Yamada as a delicious smell filled the room.

Shinsou groaned as light filled his vision, closing his eyes again and turning away from the brightness. Aizawa’s chest vibrated with a chuckle as he laughed at Shinsou’s pain. Shinsou melted as a hand ran through his tangled hair.

“You up?” Aizawa questioned.

Shinsou hummed an answer, pushing himself up to sit beside his (father) teacher, rubbing his eyes. Yamada’s loud laugh could be heard as a plate of pancakes were placed on to Shinsou’s lap, “Eat up!”

Shinsou thanked his teacher and started to eat. It was going nice until Aizawa turned to him and said, “You need a sleep schedule, Problem Child.”

No shit, Sensei.

In the end, Shinsou was taken to the doctors to get some sleeping pills. Shinsou hated the doctors so Aizawa bought him a cat plusie afterwards to make him stop pouting. Shinsou began to have more energy throughout the day after sleeping with medication, and although he still had his bad nights and didn’t normally sleep a full eight hours, he was noticeably in a better mood.

It turned out really good in the end.

Even if Yamada still refused to let Aizawa bring Shinsou to their home like a stray cat.

Dammit Hizashi.
