Lan textbooks say destined partners are connected by a tether that can share short thoughts through space, but only three times in their lives. Sadly the phenomenon is not as common as it used to be.
Wei Wuxian creates an array to activate his own connection while fate topples everything around him.(Runs through all the same plot points as canon, with small moments that would change bc of the existence of the soulmates thing. It's a mix-up of CQL and the novel, sorry!)
