Work Text:
Finally, the school was over. You felt a sight leave your lips and you exited the classroom. Seeing your boyfriend waiting for you near the gate, you couldn’t help but to hope he didn’t have to wait for a while.
“Ah, sorry if I took too much time” you apologized.
“It’s okay, don’t apologize,” his warm smile reassured you as you started to exit the school area.
“Wanna go to the park for a while?” Kakyoin asked, looking down at you.
“Sure,” came the answer. There wasn’t much homework for the following days so a small amount of time with your lovely boyfriend wouldn’t hurt.
As you walked towards the park, you two spoke about the school day and any future plans for the weekend. It wasn’t very frequent that you had much time to spare for each other, so any new possibility was warmly welcomed.
After a while, you two arrived at the park, pointing at ‘your place’ – a large tree, rather away from the usually overwhelmed benches and fountains.
As you two carefully sat down and continued to talk, you couldn’t help but to notice your boyfriend acting rather strange. Worrisome if one might say.
“Kakyoin, are you alright?” you asked, patting him shoulder a little to gather his attention.
“Yeah, everything is alright,” his smiled warmly, leaning against the tree.
You two simply sat down and absorbed the world around you, taking in the beauty of Japanese spring as the tress were blossoming. No words needed to share.
“I have something for you,” his gentle voice suddenly cut through the comforting silence, making you turn to him.
His hand reached towards his backpack to find the mentioned ‘something’ for you. Until, he suddenly got a small idea.
“Can you close your eyes?” Kakyoin asked you, stopping from searching further for a second.
“Well, sure,” you answered, a bit confused. You could hear a slight worry in your boyfriend’s voice. It wasn’t frequent that he got all worked up like that.
Still, you closed your eyes. You heard him carefully take out something, then closing his backpack again.
“Give me your hand.”
As you reached out, you felt a small thing being placed on your palm. You couldn’t really figure out what exactly it was, but it seemed rather small and somewhat light.
“Open,” Kakyoin’s gentle voice said.
As you followed the command of his, you looked down at your palm.
It was a beautifully wrapped package. Your eyes met Kakyoin’s in a silent question. Such gift is quite sudden, and you didn’t know what to think about it. Yet his small nod reassured you as you smiled at him. Opening the gift, you were surprised to find a small keychain together with a necklace. You felt the softness of the material in your hand, your smile widening at the realization. The keychain was a brown cookie while the necklace had a light-pink jellyfish. The latter had a cute freckled face on it.
“It is absolutely safe to suck and chew on, the material is silicone-like so you won’t feel any unnecessary painful hardness on your teeth,” Kakyoin spoke as a slight blush was present on his face. He was visibly quite nervous.
“I…I didn’t really know which one to get you so I decided on different levels. Cookie is heavily textured. It is suitable for light to moderate chewing,” Kakyoin explained as you eyed the mentioned keychain, feeling the medium hardness of it.
“Now this is one…” your boyfriend continued, taking the jellyfish from your hands. He unclipped the pendant, motioning to your neck “Can I?” his gentle voice asked, standing up.
“Of course,” your smile widened at his idea, mirroring your boyfriend and standing up. You felt Kakyoin step behind you, gently putting the necklace around your neck, crapping it bad together “it the length okay?” he asked from behind.
“No, it’s quite alright,” you turned to him, looking down at the necklace. The material felt light as well as the touch was soft.
“This one is a bit different, it has multiple parts and levels” Kakyoin explained, touching the necklace lightly “it should work for any kind of chewing, jellyfish’s body is flexible and some parts,” he motioned to the supposed ‘legs’ of the jellyfish “are quite light and thinner” Noriaki finished explaining, stepping back a little. He was visible quite nervous, sincerely hoping that you liked his gift.
But before he could let his worries surround his mind, Kakyoin heard your happy laughter as you flapped your arms delightfully. He couldn’t help but to mirror your happy expression, eyeing your excited form. You quickly brought him into a hug, wrapping your arms tightly around the man and squeezing out of happiness.
“Of course I like them, how could I not. I adore them, Noriaki!” you said excitedly. Kakyoin meanwhile was slightly blushing at the use of his first name. Yet quickly gathering himself, he returned the hug, feeling the warm feeling overcome him.
“I know how important it is to you and stimming is a part of you. Your uniqueness. Your personality. You. And I never want you to be different or change for the sake of me,” his loving voice carried through your head as the tiniest number of tears became apparent.
“You don’t think it’s weird?” you half-whispered.
Kissing your head, the man spoke “Of course not, I adore you. My perception of you won’t change, not now, not ever,” he ran one of his hands through your hair, ruffing it a little as he chuckled.
“Now, let’s go eat somewhat. This cookie keychain really spoke to me,” Kakyoin spoke out, letting a small sight. Breaking the hug, you took his hand in yours, smile still present on your face. The man squeezed back, as you two started to walk to your favourite café.
