Work Text:

"Kacchan come on, the store is gonna open soon! We gotta get the new manga!” Izuku Midorya says running in front of his friend, his service dog Nozumi bounding happily at his side. Katsuki rolls his eyes at the smaller teen but speeds up his walk nonetheless. “Damn Deku, slow down! We left half an hour early anyway. The walk only takes like 15, maybe 20 minutes max, we will be fine!” Katsuki yells out in response causing his friend to stop letting out a big sigh. Waiting for his friend Izuku starts to impatiently rock on his heels.

As Katsuki finally catches up to Izuku he starts to speed walk, although his efforts were halted by Katsuki grasping at the collar of his shirt. As he is pulled back Izuku lets out a whine. “Kacchan! What if there is a line?” Izuku attempts to convince Katsuki with an overexaggerated pout. “Deku,” Katsuki says, turning to look Izuku in the eyes. “Has there ever been a line in the past?” Looking down at his feet, Izuku quietly. “ Well, no… But what if there’s one now!”

Rolling his eyes once again at his friend's antics, Katsuki sighs out a response. “Ugh, whatever Deku, just slow down a bit? We really don't need to run.” Continuing the rest of their walk to their local manga shop Izuku stays at Katsuki’s side. As the two of them walk Izuku anxiously fiddles with his fingers the whole time, earning him the occasional nose nudge from Nozumi. Noticing this obvious discomfort Katsuki starts to lean onto Izuku’s shoulder. “Hey Deku, I promise we will get there and get the manga... Hell I'll blow their heads off to get it!” Katsuki says yelling out the last part, his over exaggeration making his friend start to giggle.

Lightly shoving his friend off, Izuku giggles out, “Kacchan a hero would never do that!” Letting out a laugh Katsuki continues to pester his friend by messing with his chaotic hair. “Not even in the name of All Might?” Katsuki says mocking a hurt expression and clutching at his chest. Giving a drawn out whine, Izuku pushes his friend off again. The two of them get the rest of their giggles out. As they do so they continue to walk, their giggles eventually relaxing into a comfortable silence.

As the two teens make their way through downtown Musutafu they start to point out objects in shop windows. Getting lost in their silly game they finally make their way to the manga shop. Walking up to the doors Izuku pulls out his phone to check the time. “We still have… 10 minutes.” Izuku lets out a sigh letting his shoulders droop. “What did I tell you deku now we just have to wait.”Katsuki sighs out sitting down on the curb. Isuku stands next to him conflicted on what to do. “Uh… Kacchan, we shouldn't just sit outside the shop. I don't want the workers seeing us!” Izuku mumbles out waving his hands around unsure of his words.

Rolling his eyes Katsuki gets back up. Looking at the smaller teen he asks,  “Well? Where are we gonna wait then Deku?”Fiddling with the Hem of his shirt, Izuku responds. "There were some benches down by the street corner." Katsuki rolls his eyes at his friend's obvious hesitation. "Lead the way nerd!" Katsuki says gesturing overenthusiastically in front of the two of them. He does so in hopes to lift Izuku's spirits. Letting out a giggle, Izuku begins to march down the sidewalk. Letting out a silent laugh Katsuki follows him, staying just a step behind. Once they get to the street corner the two of them sit down at a picnic table

As the two of them sit and wait Izuku picks up his phone to check the time every 30 seconds. After a few minutes of this Katsuki gets fed up and steals his phone. “Deku! Don’t you have some other dumb thing you could do other than check your phone excessivelly?” Katsuki says waving his arms around. Shrugging his shoulders Izuku looks though Nozumi’s vest pockets, sorting through random papers and trinkets until he finds the small tin of putty he was looking for. Chuckling to himself Katsuki slides the smaller teens phone to him after setting an alarm for when the shop was going to open.

--Timeskip because I said so--

“Kacchan look! They have pro hero patches! Would you help me put them onto Nozumi’s hero vests?” Izuku asks while looking through a bin of different hero themed patches. Setting down the Best Jeanist figurine he was looking at, Katsuki walks through the empty store over to where Izuku was. “Whatever De-” He starts to respond but he is stopped mid sentence by the shopkeeper walking up to the duo with a glare on his face. “No dogs allowed.” He says in an angry gruff voice stepping in front of Izuku getting into his personal space.

"Uh.. She is a-a service dog sir…” Izuku softly stutters out stepping back just barely knocking into a stand behind him. Noticing the man’s close proximity to Izuku, Nozumi places herself between them in hopes of creating a barrier. Up until this point Katsuki was watching at the side waiting for a moment to step in and he does when the man steps closer to Izuku and not caring about Nozumi, knocks her out of the way. Hearing a yip come from the dog Katsuki grabs the man’s shirtfront.

Holding the man only a few inches away from his face Katsuki starts to set off small explosions in his hand causing the man's eyes to go wide. Seeing his friend take over the situation Izuku grabs Nozumi and rushes to a spot out of the way of the growing fight. “She is a service dog asshole. You can't just kick the two of them out without a good reason!” Katsuki growls out. The man, likely only focusing on the second half of what he said, blurts out. “I-I’m allergic to dogs!” In response Katsuki snorts out. “Yeah no try again, Bitch.” Katsuki slams the man into the wall behind him, causing many shelves and figurines to shake.

Only a few seconds after the shaking stops the door near the back of the shop is ripped open. “Yato? What the hell is happening?” A girl, probably in her late 20’s, asks clearly confused by the scene in front of her. Two teens, one on the floor near her  crying with a dog and the other standing over top of the shopkeeper, clearly named Yato. “Anyone gonna explain?” She asks before stepping over to Izuku. “Honey are you okay?” The woman asks, kneeling down next to him. As she kneels there she places her hand onto Izuku’s knee, the action causing him to jerk away from her and let more tears run down his face.

Nodding her head she stands up, when she does so she is met with the angry red face of Katsuki. “This asshole of a worker decided to get into his face and injure his service dog.” Katsuki responds walking over, ‘accidentally’ stepping on the man's hand in the process. “Yato! God, just go in the back and get cleaned up. I'll deal with you later.”  She exclaims, upon hearing Katsukis words, not really caring about the boy's actions. As the man walks out the door Katsuki goes over to Izuku. Rubbing his back and handing him a few tissues from Nozumi’s vest. After a few minutes Izuku was able to calm down.

“I'm so sorry you too for all of the trouble. I’m Hitomi Ito… I'm the owner, I lectured him just the other day about people bringing pets into the store. PETS not service animals.” She says holding her head in her hands. “I-It’s okay.” Izuku stutters out, getting cut off by a loud, “Deku! You can't just dismiss shit.” Katsuki says, “You’ve gotta stand up for yourself…” Barely getting through his words, Katsuki is caught in a bear hug by Izuku. “How about this, what were you two looking for today, hm?” Ito says giving the teen in front of her a soft smile.

“The new All Might Manga!” Izuku says loudly, his mood changing in an instant. Rolling his eyes, Katsuki walks over to the bin Izuku was looking through before chaos went down. "You wanted to get some of these patches too right Deku?" Izuku enthusiastically nods with a huge smile. "All right well you two just wait right here I'll be right back!" Ito just says before running around the store real quick grabbing the manga, patches, and a few extra little things. Making her way over to the register she presses a few buttons before talking. “Alright you two, This comes out to 1000 yen.”

“That's way too little!” Izuku says waving his hands in front of his face, shock covering his features. “Please don’t worry it's the least I could do after what you had to go through.” Ito says smiling snd handing their stuff in two separate bags. After a small argument about who was paying, Katsuki gives Ito the money with the excuse his mother gave him the money. After paying they leave before another argument could start.
