The Star Bakery!

Summary:

It’s a pretty normal day, on Saturdays they get the most customers, there are especially many during rush hour. It’s mostly girls too, and ones from their highschool. They just think that the Japanese Joestar duo looks incredibly adorable in their working uniform. Even though both of them are extremely annoyed by the girls (tbh its mostly Jotaro, literally the CEO of misogyny) their mother insisted on keeping them here because they come in hordes and it makes them money.

Besides the regulars, there were a bunch of foreigners too. The Star bakery was a must-visit for foreigners. They have a variety of pastry and desserts, ranging from traditional Japanese to original recipes that match with today’s trends. It’s just too good to pass up.

[Joestar Bakery AU! A combination of my 2 favorite things, JoJo, and desserts! Filled with shenanigans and even more shenanigans you would expect from a JoJo Teen And up Audiences fic.]

Notes:

Ages:
Jonathan: 30
Joseph: 25
Jotaro and Jolyne: 19
Josuke: 17

I hope you guys enjoy it!

Chapter 1: It's a day like any other day

Chapter Text

“Welcome!”

The youngest brother of the Joestar family, Josuke yelled out as a customer entered their family restaurant. Today it was just Jotaro and Josuke behind the counter, as their 2 older brothers are busy working on Saturdays. They’ll probably be back tomorrow (at least Jonathan will, Joseph tends to be a lazy bum). Jolyne was sick so she’s at home with her friends for now.

It’s a pretty normal day, on Saturdays they get the most customers, there are especially many during rush hour. It’s mostly girls too, and ones from their highschool. They just think that the Japanese Joestar duo looks incredibly adorable in their working uniform. Even though both of them are extremely annoyed by the girls (to be honest it's mostly Jotaro, literally the CEO of misogyny) their mother insisted on keeping them here because they come in hordes and it makes them money.

Besides the regulars, there were a bunch of foreigners too. The Star bakery was a must-visit for foreigners. They have a variety of pastry and desserts, ranging from traditional Japanese to original recipes that match with today’s trends. It’s just too good to pass up.

It was also a fun bakery too. There was a special, new cake every week and they even have games on their menu! A mystery wheel! It goes like this:

If one had purchased desserts there until the price reached 100 quid, they get a free spin on the wheel of fortune. “Congratulations!” Josuke gave the customer a warm smile. “Since you have purchased up to 100 pounds worth of desserts you get a free spin on the wheel of fortune!”

Josuke took the customer to the corner of their shop, where the large spinning wheel resides. There are 5 slots on the wheel, a blue star, a brown star, a black star, a purple star and a green star.

A blue star was Jonathan’s signature dessert - Milo chocolate truffles. Jonathan had a sweet tooth growing up and he was the one who taught the other Joestars how to bake. His favorite dessert growing up was anything with chocolate. Chocolate cake, chocolate lava cake, chocolate cookies, chocolate pudding, you name it, he loves it. However, nothing beats his ultimate favorite desserts which are milo milk and truffles. When he had the idea of mixing those 2 components, everyone absolutely loved it. He’d often shape it into a star or a heart but if he’s in an especially good mood he’d shape it into a cute bunny.

A brown star was Joseph’s signature dessert - Pancake art. Joseph loves reading comics and even until now. When he wasn’t annoying the hell out of his brothers he spent his childhood reading comics (sometimes manga) and drawing them. He has gotten pretty good at drawing cartoons. When the bakery opened, he spent time mastering the skill of pancake art, which admittedly nobody can beat him at that, not even Jonathan.

A black star was Jotaro’s signature dessert - Black sesame pudding or Kuro-Goma purin. Other than his need to be an edgelord 24/7, he is a huge fan of the food back home in Japan and wants the people here in England to try out the less popular desserts from there. He is not a huge fan of overly sweet things so he’s more fond of black sesame desserts than other things. And admittedly he can’t make any desserts that require ovens or microwaves, because every cake he had attempted to make came out burnt or raw. However, with pudding, he doesn’t need to worry about any of those things.

A purple star was Josuke’s signature dessert - Milk tea boba ice cream. Josuke was that basic Asian bitch. Motherfucker can’t survive a day without at least 3 boba drinks. To take his boba addiction into greater lengths, he created milk tea boba ice cream. It is a milk tea flavored soft serve, with a drizzle of boba and brown sugar.

Last but not least. A green star was Jolyne’s signature dessert - matcha macarons. Jolyne loves traveling, taking pictures and eating the desserts there. Both for more pastry ideas and that she’s simply hungry and needs a snack. One idea she came up with was mixing France’s most notable desserts, macarons and mixing with Japan’s most favored tea, matcha. She went to great lengths to study the art of making macarons because damn it’s fucking difficult. Last year she extended her holiday in France for 2 weeks, leaving her family behind to learn how to make the macaron from a renowned French chef. When she got back, she had a fun time trying to teach her brothers at home hehe (mainly Jotaro almost burning the house down but still.)

The win spun and the customer eyed it with anticipation. As the wheel halted, the arrow was pointing at the purple star. Josuke sighed in relief because if he were ever to attempt at making Jolyne’s macarons or god forbid, Joseph’s pancakes again, he’d rather jump off a building. “Congratulations! You get the milk tea boba soft serve! Would you like dairy or vegan?”

“Oh, dairy is fine!” the customer exclaimed and Josuke nodded and left to make the ice cream. He took a small paper cup (eco-friendly yay) and placed it under the machine. He pulled down the handle and twirled the cup around to give the ice cream the trademark soft-serve look. He went to the topping station and picked up the ladle with boba and drizzled it on top and to the sides of the ice cream. He rang the bell and called the customer’s name. Watching the customer’s look of excitement is still the best part of the job to Josuke. Knowing that he made that customer smile feels rewarding.

“Oh, this looks wonderful! Thank you so much!” The customer gave him a huge smile before leaving the bakery. Josuke went back to his station with a thousand-watt smile. Which caused Jotaro to grimace with disgust.

"You look like SpongeBob." Jotaro groaned as if that was the most disgusting thing on earth.

"And you Jotaro, look like you have been listening to Billie Eilish on repeat for 24 hours after going through a breakup with a Juul-addicted boyfriend."

Jotaro tipped his signature hat and muttered "Yare yare daze" before leaving to tend to a new customer.

Today was like any other day in the bakery, it was always a great day in the bakery.
