Chapter Text
The first time Haru really looks into Kanbe Daisuke’s eyes, he is unfortunately dangling off a bridge.
He would have pulled himself back up, had things been a little different. He still had the strength, multiplied by an indignant fury towards the suit-clad bastard currently smirking smugly down at him.
As it was, things rarely went the way Haru wanted them to.
He assesses the fall first---yep, not ideal, but he would live. With that reassurance his gaze snaps back up in a glare---look, he still has a dignity to protect, okay?---and their eyes connect.
Click.
The first time Katou Haru looks into his soulmate’s eyes, the sky bursts into color.
Blue.
He’s been told his whole life what blue looked like. He looks down, and the water beneath him shimmers under the sunlight.
Blue is beautiful.
As it is, because Katou Haru is just that kind of person, the new color suddenly bursting to life all around him leaves him completely awestruck. So awestruck that he accidentally lets go.
He slips and before he realizes, he’s falling. There’s a choked noise above him, and the last thing he sees before he hits the water is Kanbe Daisuke jerking forward, the blue in his eyes evident as they widen in shock.
Serves him right, Haru thinks.
He collides with the river surface in a loud splash.
