Work Text:
May 2nd.
The second of May.
Haru’s birthday.
It didn’t feel much like a birthday.
Haru sighed as he rolled over and smacked his alarm clock slowly moving to be sitting upright in bed. He lifted his arms above his head in a stretch before lazily blinking his eyes and forcing himself out of bed.
30.
God, he was getting old.
He made his way into the kitchen after getting dressed and brushing his teeth, looking at his possibilities to have and just settling on a bottle of water. He knew he should eat but that wasn’t really on his mind, in fact, what kind of crimes even happen on a Saturday? Well, a lot as Haru found out when he got to work and was immediately sent out to perform a drug bust, alongside his coworker, Daisuke.
As they had worked together over the past few weeks Haru had begun to develop a bit of a crush on Daisuke, but with their different views on just about, everything made him believe that the two of them would never work out. Then again, people do say opposites attract. Soon enough the heist was over and the two of them silently got into the car and drove back to the station. Haru stared out the window letting Daisuke drive them back, despite feeling as though Daisuke was a horrific driver.
He saw a beautiful blue day outside, something that didn’t quite match how he felt inside but it did warm his heart a bit to see a small family outside spending time together. Even if he wasn’t having the best birthday, he knew that someone else was having a good day, birthday or no.
What he didn’t see was Daisuke’s small smirk.
“Are you coming inside?” Daisuke asked once the car was parked and Haru nodded getting out of the car, “We did pretty well out there today wouldn’t you say?”
“We?” Haru asked stopping in his tracts, “We didn’t do anything. I am the one who did all the work out there today, all you did was spend way too much money! Where does that money even come fro—” He was silenced with a kiss.
On the list of things he expected to have happen that was far from the top.
That didn’t mean it was a bad thing. In fact. He was glad for the kiss. At least one thing went well on his birthday.
“Happy birthday Haru,” Haru felt his cheeks heat up when Daisuke used his first name, “Let’s go inside. They’re having a party just for you.”
