Work Text:
I.
She’s only five and
She’s on her stomach and
They’re in a dog cage and
There’s pine straw on the ground and
He’s pulling down his pants and
He’s telling her what to do and
She doesn’t understand.
But she opens her mouth and
She does what she’s asked and
They’re hidden behind the shed and
They pretend nothing happened and
She never forgets what happened.
But she tries to.
II.
She’s only fourteen and
She’s on his lap and
They’re in a bathroom stall and
There’s blue paint peeling off the door and
He’s pulling her shirt up and
He’s kissing her mouth and
She doesn’t want it.
But she closes her mouth and
She doesn’t protest and
They finally pull away and
They finally go back to class and
She tries to forget about it.
But she can still feel his hands on her.
III.
She isn’t herself anymore and
She was never herself and
Now she’s not She.
Now she’s He
And he’s still hurting
And he’s still remembering.
