Chapter Text

All kids had returned to school after the break, it was Friday afternoon now and Eri was asking to go to the park. She pestered both teenagers until they finally agreed to take her. Currently they were getting ready to head out. She had her hoodie and jeans on ready to go.

When Shouta heard the door close he let out a sigh, he was immensely stressed out right now. Everything was piling up and for the first time in a long time, he thought he felt a panic attack brewing. His chest was tight and breaths came with struggle, it was coming on slowly so he had time to get somewhere alone, Hizashi was in his office doing something probably like paperwork. He pushed in the chair to the table and ran down towards their room.

He hit the doorknob of his office slightly but nevertheless soon found himself locking their door and sitting in front of it, head in hands and a few stray tears. He knew he made too much noise and probably disturbed his husband, his suspicions were answered when he heard the footsteps and the calling of his name.

He was unable to respond without making the obvious, well obvious. He stayed still in front of the door, his nails scratching dully against the hardwood. He heard a knock on their door and Hizashi asking if he was in there when he attempted to jiggle the lock of the door with no avail.

“Shouta, love, I know you're in there so open the door for me, okay?” He asked trying to compromise with the man who didn’t want to be seen like this.

Shouta was rocking back and forth slightly to try and ground himself debating if he should open the door as he listened to Hizashi ask him to open the door. “Baby we’re too old for this, open the door, please.” He coaxed, still standing outside the door, moving to sit back against it while he waited.

This one was bad and Shouta knew that because when he looked at his arms he was scratching at them, he hasn’t done that in a very long time, and he knew he should let HIzashi in, to be rational, but in his state of mind that seemed impossible.

Hizashi had texted Katsuki to keep their group at the park for a bit and go for ice cream or something. He was tapping his fingers on the floor while he waited for his black haired husband to open their locked door. He had only seen Shouta like this a few times in their lives, when Oboro passed, and two other times.

Hizashi’s hair rested on the floor while he tried to coax the other man to open the door, “Babe you know we need to talk about it, it’s okay.”

Shouta eventually did find the courage to turn the lock and the knob. He stood up when Yamada did. Everything felt thick and slow and he watched as the blond stared at his red puffy face watching the features soften, “Can I hug you?” Hizashi asked, holding his arms out.

Shouta’s response was to just walk forward into the waiting embrace. A warm safe embrace that reminded no matter where the two where they would always be at home together. Hizashi sighed, “I’ve got you love, we need to talk about what happened though, you know that right?” He asked gently, rocking back and forth together.

Shouta nodded but didn’t really move, “Shit, the kids will be back soon.” He said, pulling away, rubbing his eyes rapidly.

Yamada pulled him in again, “I texted Katsuki to stay out longer and go do something with them.”

Shouta didn’t say anything just stayed there moving back and forth, thought swimming through his mind, lots of stress and what if’s. Hizashi interrupted the pool of thinking, “Come on love, lets go talk for a bit.” He said, leading the pair to the sofa and sitting close together.

“Do you know what triggered this one?” He asked, throwing an arm around him and turning his gaze to meet his eyes.

“Yeah, just stressed.” He stated.

Hizashi scoffed, “And what else, you’ve been stressed before, but it was never that bad babe.” He lightly touched Shouta’s shoulder.

“I don’t know maybe because we just practically adopted two more kids, we have three kids now, and, it’s just stressful, work is piling up from missed days, I always knew parenting Eri we would figure it out as we went, but now, we have two teenagers that god know are going to need a lot of help and healing and I just, I don't want to make it worse for them, I don't want them to end up like him. They’re kids, they deserve a chance to live their lives and be happy, and what if I can't give that to them, Zashi? What if I make their situations worse?” He asked leaning into the touch, seeking some kind of comfort.

“Your trying to figure it all out along, you can’t do that, because i'm right here and your not alone, We’ve already done better than their parents have, they’re going to be better and happy and ive, it may take awhile and there might be some bumps, “He laughed,” But that’s life, we just have to take it one step at a time and remember we have each other.” He explained.

Shouta just wanted to make up for not noticing the abuse going on and not doing something sooner, he knew that feeling and that always shook him up, those kids deserved more and he would be damned if he never got to give it to them.

Hizashi got up and threw a blanket at his husband, “You’re dozing off, take a nap, I’ll be in my office. Remember we have each other, love.” He said turning down the hallway.

Shouta adjusted the blanket around himself, turning his head so he faced into the couch and sighed, Hizashi was right, they had each other, but what if a day came when they didn’t, he didn’t want to think about that right now and closed his eyes, seeking a much needed nap.
