Top level Passione assignment

Summary:

Is Guido up to the task?

Work Text:

"Mista!"

With one mention Giorno Giovanna's subordinate and bodyguard is on the move, Guido Mista scrambles out of his work desk and rushes to the origin of the call. It's a beautiful morning day in Italy, sunlight piercing through windows and illuminating rooms and figures within, Mista's boss especially, his golden hair shines luminous and sparkling in the dreamy brilliance of an Italian sunrise.

"Yes boss?" Mista tried not to look too hard at his superior, for he might be blinded by his aura. He couldn't ever outright admit how he felt about him due to personal fears. Rejection, not only that but the consequences in asking are beyond Mista's imagination and he wasn't willing to unearth the reality to them any time soon. Still the desire lingered within Mista to tell Giorno the truth. How gorgeous he was, how smart he was, or how powerful yet kind-hearted he was. Despite entering at a meager age of fifteen Giorno's ambition far exceeded Mista or the other Passione gangster's wildest expectations. No one could have anticipated his ascension to the top of the gang, like the sun climbing the sky this very morning it was like an unstoppable phenomenon.

And like the sun purifying the pitch darkness of night Giorno had cleansed the gang of all it's foul intent, drugs and needless murder under Diavolo's reign. Nobody could challenge the sun's wake, and nobody could challenge Mista's boss.

"Mista my loyal bodyguard and friend, I have an assignment for you of the utmost importance." Mista suddenly woke from his trance, ready to tackle anything the boss would throw at him he quickly noted the document in Giorno's hand, under the assumption that the folder in his clutch contained everything he needed to know about the job. Giorno suddenly turned his back to his allocated protector and started solemnly leading him through the office halls.

"It is unlike anything you've faced before in your time as a member of Passione, and I'd understand if you didn't want to accept" Mista's smile slightly faltered, the young mafioso grew increasingly anxious while he tried reflecting on what he'd have to be doing this time. Eventually they both reached a large stone archway, beyond that they would reach the sun and the beautiful landscape of Naples from the perspective of a large balcony tiled in orange stone. Outside Giorno's aura grew tenfold, bathing in the exuberant rays one could mistake him for an angel, or at least that was Guido's interpretation.

Suddenly Giorno turned to him, his face as bold and serious as Mista had ever seen it. What would he have him to do that was so grave? Assassinate the pope?

Giorno's vision centered on the object within his grasp as Mista's eyes darted to the tan file gripped tight in his boss's hand, his polished red fingernails digging straight into it, and for one and only one moment in all his time with Giorno Guido saw that his boss was genuinely nervous, the mere sight of it made Mista recoil into a shiver. Taking a big gulp of air he immediately recollected himself, confidence burning anew. He needed to show his boss he was worthy of his trust.

Giorno's arm slowly lifted forward, hesitantly bringing the folder to his subordinate yet as Mista reached out he saw the document start to change shape, and quickly drew his hand back. The assignment turned into a weird mix of red and green... appearance of stems and a semblance of pedals... the papers had abruptly transitioned into a shocking new form. A bouquet of roses courtesy of Gold Experience.

Was this a dream? Mista stared back at the flowers incredulously, eyes shot open wide in disbelief they drove back to Giorno's red face, then back to the roses again, and again and again his brown iris bolted from one to the other. He had repeated this at least four times, then forced himself to do it once more for good measure (and luck) as his eyes finally locked onto Giorno's. Mista barely managed to whimper "B-boss!?" out of his trembling lips, that was all he could muster as his mind raced far too fast to comprehend what sort of miracle stood before him.

"Mista..." Giorno's beautiful blue eyes strayed off of Mista's tan face, aiming towards the tiles underfoot "Would, you... like to go out with me?"
