merry christmas to you

Summary:

Shouto is starting to think he knows barely anything about Christmas, but as it applies and as it will always, he doesn't mind at all--knowing he gets to see his boyfriend happy.

That's all he wants really, for Christmas.

For the people he loves to be joyful, and remember that they're all loved. A lesson Izuku had taught him.

Work Text:

Izuku sits beside Shouto, snuggled close to him as the fireplce in front of them glows, providing light in the dimly lit room. The blanket around the two bring them together, arms wrapped up in one another as they sit on the ground. Izuku's head lies on Shouto's chest as he runs his fingers through the green locks, his other arm around Izuku's waist and holding him firm.

The snow out of the window sparkled like glitter, and it had managed to make both of their faces flush with pink. Shouto had compared Izuku to looking like Rudoplh, the reindeer he'd recently learned about thanks to Izuku's meddling. The story caught Shouto as a little odd, but a lot about Christmas did. It didn't matter that much to him though, because it was all worth it when he got to see Izuku's smile light up a room as if he was the star that belonged on the top of the tree.

( Shouto says Izuku is his star. His way. His light and his path, and Izuku thinks it's cheesy, especially since he's not even religious. Shouto doesn't care about that either, because the words are completely true, and he gets a pretty crimson blush from Izuku when he says so. )

The two of them had made cookies earlier in the day, chocolate chip.

Shouto has suggested heating them up to 4000 degrees so they would cook in a minute and a half, but Izuku had very cautiously dragged his thoughts away from that idea since it probably wouldn't work, and they cooked them normally. They still came out kinda charred anyways, but then again, that wasn't that big of a deal considering Shouto was able to steal a dozen batch of kisses from Izuku that he was certain were sweeter than any kind of cookie they could bake.

The snow angels had been next--another winter thing Shouto thought was silly--but Izuku liked it, and taught him how to make one. ( Shouto is starting to think he knows barely anything about Christmas, but as it applies and as it will always, he doesn't mind at all, knowing he gets to see his boyfriend happy. That's all he wants really, for Christmas. For the people he loves to be joyful, and remember that they're all loved. A lesson Izuku had taught him. ) That's what led to them coming inside and cuddling up in one another's arms. After all, they'd wanted some comfort from the cold, and what better an excuse to cuddle than for warmth?

Izuku hummed against Shouto's chest. "Thanks for being with me this weekend. It's been really fun."

Shouto twirls one of Izuku's smaller curls around in his finger, a small smile tugging on his lips. "It's not a problem, Izuku. I had fun too."

The Christmas Song played quietly in the background, filling up their comfortable silence with the melodies of "Merry Christmas to you," and a wonderful instrumental, strings and piano dipping in and out of the other in harmony.

"I love you, Shouto."

Shouto could sit by a fireplace as long as he wanted, but nothing would bring more warmth to his heart than those words did.

"I love you too, Izuku. Merry Christmas."
