Work Text:
Kirishima wasn’t sure how much longer he could take. To be quite honest, he considered himself to be somewhat of a hopeless romantic. He didn’t think there was anything unmanly about openly feeling love, so he liked to indulge in a cheesy romance or two.
Which is why this specific issue was paining him so much. The issues being his friends Bakugo Katsuki and Midoriya Izuku. He lied down in bed as he thought about them. He was no stranger to the past of the two. Although he doesn’t know the full story, obviously something bad went down and the two struggled with it. That also means that he wasn’t ignorant to the obvious change in their behavior towards each other.
The way Bakugo’s anger was less malicious and just more “this is how Bakugo is”. Meanwhile Midoriya wasn’t afraid to rant about how cool Bakugo’s costume was, ignoring the way Bakugo’s hands lit up, knowing it was all show. He saw the way Midoriya’s eyes sparkled when he looked at his friend slash rival. And although he hid it slightly better, Bakugo couldn’t completely hide the way his eyes and demeanor calmed at the sight of Midoriya. And when he thought no one was looking? Boy does he love to stare.
If Kirishima didn’t know any better, he would think that this was just simple admiration between the two. But if one knew anything about those heroes, they’d know that nothing about them was ever simple.
Kirishima could smell the obvious pining in the air and it was killing him.
Should he intervene? Give a little nudge. Drop subtle suggestions (to Midoriya of course. He would definitely have more chances going down that route if it was him.)? But what if he does the wrong thing and screws it all up. Should he just trust they won’t be completely oblivious and leave it alone? He should be focused on his hero work, but these two were his bros. He sighed to himself. At this rate he’d end up looking like Shinsou in the morning. Sitting up, he decided to head through the common room to get some tea. A little walk and warmth would probably make him sleepy.
Going to the kitchen, he noticed the light already on, and the sound of two very familiar voices in a very heated manner.
“—could you even say that Kacchan? That battle was the perfect amount of All Might’s epicness and the epitome of hero passion!”
“Epicness isn’t even word dumbass and if we’re talking about epic, that obviously fits his battle with—”
Ah. Of course. Kirishima couldn’t help but smile at the two. At times they were like little kids and he couldn’t help but find their petty fights endearing. He didn’t hear what was said after, but he heard Midoriya giggle and Bakugo letting out a laugh.
Taking a peek into the kitchen, he witnessed Midoriya’s slightly red face as Bakugo ruffled his hair. He smiled to himself and abandoned the thought of tea, not wanting to interrupt the two. Slipping back into the bed he let his thoughts wander once again and decided that yeah.
Those two will work it out just fine.
