Work Text:

It's been days.

No, a week.

Yashiro Nene has been ignoring her.. "boyfriend" since then. But her reason for it was because of those stupid typical thoughts about him needing to find out on his own.

But he can barely take it anymore. Amane has been trying every method (bugging her, hugging her, even trying to carry her, except all she does is push him away from her and angrily pick up her pace) to get her attention, and none are working.

They've started dating two weeks ago, and this is the first time the two encounters a problem like this. Though, their other colleagues are concerned about how they aren't exactly getting along.

Well, no. Not dating.

They've confessed to one another, yes, although they decided to try out unofficially dating before they can decide their relationship statuses.

Unfortunately, there's been a mishap after Nene enters a café only to see Amane and a girl around her year, except she seemed older.

She didn't like how slender the legs of the girl had.

Nene's legs were long, and she was proud of that, but the chubbiness that had developed on her legs makes them look similar to radishes.

"For how long are you gonna ignore your boyfriend? Til he gives up and breaks up with you??" Aoi asks in a little frustration, bothered by the fact they aren't making progress since then.

"Until he learns his lesson."

"And.. when is that?"

Nene stood silent for a moment, trying to calculate. Clearly tired of this, Aoi lets out a sigh, putting her utensils down on the flipped lid of her lunchbox, and inches closer to the friend in front of her.

"You see here, Nene, people don't progress when they think he should be the one to know the thing he's done. It's a cliché!" She crosses her arms to lean on the back of her chair in the cafeteria in slight exasperation.

"People think he should know what he did. But men are all the same! They never retrace steps, but never give up in trying to find out in what they did wrong.. unless they give up and break up."

Her purple pupils avert her friend's for a moment, looking outside awkwardly. "But still!" Eventually, she slams her hands on the table, startling Yashiro.

"Why should I tell him??"

"Because it's getting worst for the both of you!"

"You're out of your mind.. You think I can approach him right now?? Who in the right mind would try out a relationship only to go on some sort of blind date after?" Ranting, she aggressively takes her spoon, stabbing the omelette and scooping a bite.

"Is.. Is that so..?" She scratches the back of her head, letting out a sigh. "Nene-chan, we're 19. I'm sure he's smart enough to find out about what he did, eat up." Shyly, Aoi began to take spoonfuls of rice and munching on it slowly, thinking of the situation clearly.

"Are you sure it's Amane though?"

"Is there any other Amane??"

"Good point.."

Just as she took a sip from the milk on her tray, a hand lightly knocks on the table. Both girls look in the direction of the source.

There he was; speak of the devil. Yugi Amane.

Nene glares a little irritably, looking away. "Can we sit here?" By we; he refers to himself and Akane. The four are usually the troubling group that tends to hang out, due to the other two, of course.

"Sure thing!" Aoi cheerily encourages them. Until then, Nene's stubbornness takes over just as Amane sits down in front of her.

She stares at her significant other from his head to his tray with an annoyed glare. She eventually stands up, holding both ends of her tray. "Lost my appetite, gonna stay in the classroom."

Without hesitation or looking back, she steps away, jerking her hand at the instant Amane grabs onto it. Aoi sighs at the sight of her giving the tray to the lunch lady with such a warm smile, and ends up looking back at Amane with a glare of daggers.

"Where's the appetite to lose when you ate it all? You smooth-talking wannabe.." Aoi mumbles, grumpily eating a spoonful of the rice. "What's wrong with her? Has she always been like that?" Akane, from beside Amane asks, frowning slightly back at her.

"No, it just started two days ago. Gosh, Amane, why'd you go on a blind date when it's clear that you're dating someone?" She began scolding the boyfriend of her best friend like a mother, clicking her tongue in disappointment.

"Blind date?" Trying to process the situation, Amane frowns in confusion. One thing's for sure; he was Nene's. Nene was his. He would never go that direction. He was a loyal person, what kind of monster would he be if he were on a blind date??

"What blind date?? I don't go on blind dates?!" He cluelessly asks, having the misunderstood idea get to his nerves.

"Keep trying to lie, you'll only get further down to sinking." With a last sip of her beverage, she stands up, walking off.

But it never really occurred to him. Would it be some kind of doppelganger? WHY would he go on blind dates??

Finding it too complicated to solve at the moment, he sighs, using force onto chopping the meat on his tray while trying to gather his thoughts.

Amane lets out a long, loud sigh as he walked with Akane to the classroom.

"What's the next subject?" He asks, looking at his watch from the wrist of his left hand. "P.E. Coach is absent today though, he said we better do our regular warm-ups and stuff at the gym or else he's gonna fail us. I don't know, it's exhausting." His friend responds, sliding the glasses up the bridge of his nose.

The boy stops in his tracks, as the one with glasses walked on.

"Hold on, how long is PE today?"

Akane stops to turn around, trying to gather his thoughts. "Hmm.. Around an hour only, it's the last period anyway."

Eventually, Amane had an idea like a light bulb popping right above his head. "Hey Akane, can you make some sort of excuse for us? I have an idea." For some reason, his smooth-thinking makes him more excited by the minute.

"Gosh, why? You never skip P.E." He slips his glasses up the bridge of his nose, confused. "I have some issues to solve."

He stares and blinks his eyes in disbelief, until Akane heaves a sigh. "Fine. Just this once, cause I don't get enough time with Ao-chan when you two are separated." Akane grumbles, scrunching his nose and looking front. Amane smiles fondly, patting his friend's shoulder.

"Be thankful I'm the Vice President of the council AND your friend."

Stealthily sneaking from the walls, Amane looks left and right to check if the coast is clear. On both ends of the hallway, Aoi and Akane are checking in case a teacher pops by.

After a few minutes, the two gave him a thumbs up. Amane returns to them with a salute, standing up and clearing his throat to march inside the classroom.

His timing was perfect, because Nene was just about to walk out, only to be shocked by Amane. "Y-you startled me.." She lets out a sigh of relief, her expression softening.

Immediately, she freezes, only to keep her confident, ignorant pose. "Move."

Amane chuckles softly, turning around and shutting the door locked. Nene curiously peeks, a little conflicted. "Hey, hey, hey! What?? We're- I'm gonna be late!" She corrects herself last-minute, looking from the knob to him. "Nope. I told Akane we're skipping. What we're gonna do in this hour is talk about what's going on." He grabs her wrist, making his way to find some seats.

He moved the desks a little, taking his chair and sitting on it wrongly only to rest his chin on the back of the chair. Nene retracts her head as he inches a little closer, locking her eyes into his.

..which, however, didn't go successfully as she blows air off her nose and averts her gaze, leaning back to cross her arms.

"Hey."

She stood silent.

He looks at her coyly, clicking his tongue. "What do you mean blind date? Are you making things up to excuse me? To get away from me?" Constantly, Amane asks the questions, not putting much emotion to what he says except this "are-you-happy-now?" expression.

Nene turns her gaze to his, with a glare. She clicks her tongue, letting out a sigh before she loosens her arms to rest on the table. "That's childish. Do you really think I hate you to the point I pitied you enough to try this out?"

"Don't you?"

"What do you think this is, charity? Oh, it's such a pity, this guy likes me, I should probably kiss him back after he abruptly kisses me to shut me up." She mockingly states, blowing through her mouth and looking away.

"Hey, you can't lie though, the kiss was good."

"...I mean it was really ni-"

She interrupts her own tiny voice session, clearing her throat and sitting up straight. "Hey. Why are you going in blind dates?? Am I someone you can just toy with?"

Amane sighs, pressing his forehead on the edge of the back-support.

"I'm telling you, I didn't go on any blind dates! Didn't you see me turn down all those.... girls before I confessed to you?" Despite implying disgust on the term "girls", he retorts back, exasperated.

"What are you gonna do about it?? Hate me forever? Stop talking to me until we break up?"

"What bothered me the most was how slender her legs were! DO YOU THINK IT'S FINE TO HUMILIATE MY LEGS LIKE THAT??!"

His mouth opened agape to speak, only for nothing to come out. Amane proceeds to close his mouth and to think. "Wait, wait, what did she look like?"

Nene's glares shot daggers at him from head to toe. "Short hair, long at the front. Half-lidded eyes. Green hair. Calming voice. Slender legs. AND TO MAKE IT WORSE HER PERSONALITY WAS GOOD." Done with this, she pushes her chair from her table and stood up.

Amane processed quickly who this.. other Amane was, but the description of the girl reminded him of someone certain. Around a friend group, maybe?

"Look. It's not funny how you think you can lie your way out of here. I saw what happened, and I WILL remember."

Sparing at least two seconds, she marched off. "Nene, wait!"

Amane immediately thought out who it could be, grabbing her wrist to have her spin in his direction, abruptly losing her balance to hold onto his shoulders, qnd have her knee up on his lap.

He wraps is arms around her waist to keep her in place, and lightly presses her closer to him.

"Were there three chairs by the table?"

"Yeah. It was annoying."

"Nene.." Amane sighs, relieved that he's come to the conclusion. "I think you saw my twin, Tsukasa."

He locked his eyes with hers, although she couldn't escape his glance. "..twin?"

"I'm pretty sure I've talked about him, but I don't know if I actually introduced you to him. Tsukasa. He isn't on a blind date either, he just forced Natsuhiko to order for them." Amane begins to smile widely, looking into her eyes playfully.

She blinks her eyes, clearly lost.

"They're from the broadcasting club. They're fixing their wavers, and researching for things to announce. And, wait for this," He leans a little sideways, looking at the time. It ticks to the next minute, and a few seconds later, the speakers sound.

He leans back to face Nene, pointing up at the apparent sound.

"Preschoolers and Elementary students are dismissed. Please proceed to the front gate. You are only allowed to stay until 5:00 PM. I repeat..."

The girl's jaw drops, hearing the familiarity in the voice. "See? That's Sakura."

She releases a quiet "ohh" in realization, clearing her throat, and averts her gaze sheepishly.

With a flirtatious grin, he tries to win back her glance by playfully moving around in place. She, swiftly, does catch a little bit of the sight, only to immediately turn away.

"Awe, Nene.. You're adorable."

She escapes his grasp, standing up properly to gaze down at him and to, once more, look away. "Why would I find a date if it isn't you?"

He teasingly clicks his tongue and stands up. Nene looks from the side, to his eyes, to the side and back to his eyes. "AHH!! I'm horrible at this!!" She exclaims, ducking down to cover her head.

"You know what? I don't deserve this. I shouldn't be in relationships. This is why I have so many exes. Hit me, I deserve it!" She jolts back up, grabbing his wrist with both of her hands to attempt to pound on her head.

Amane yanks his hand away from her grasp, confusing her a little but to sheepishly look down. "No, don't say that~.." He pouts his lips a little, brushing her bangs up her head, to plant a kiss on her forehead.

He pulls her into a tight hug, pressing his cheek on her ear. Nene hugs him back tighter, but in a comforting way. They last like that for a minute, only for Amane to pull away to look at her. "You know I love you, right?"

Jokingly, the girl decides to shake her head playfully, smiling at his reaction. He scrunches up his nose, looking at her a little disappointedly.

"I love you~" He pulls her closer to the hug, waving her around tightly and continuously did it around three times.

He pulls away once more, seeing how she giggles with her eyes closed with a blush slightly running through her cheeks.

Amane then quickly kisses her on the lips, entirely leaving the hug and skipping away, leaving her suddenly flustered. "H-hey!" Nene brings her fingers to her lips, a little bit in disbelief.

"Why, do you want another kiss?" He walks back to her. "N-no! Don't do that, there are probably school cameras around, who knows who's behind them? We're gonna screw up, this is risky!!" She cautiously steps back, only to be trapped back inside his warm hug.

"I'm gonna kiss you carefully this time, I don't care if they see it or not. It's good cause first, they'll know you're mine, and second, they're gonna capture the kiss perfectly." His face grows closer to her face before she could even respond, only being close enough for their breath to blow on each other's skin.

She softly hums in disapproval, making him chuckle a little bit to finally lean in to connect his lips onto hers softly, feeling the tiny little flutters in his chest and the shape of her smile.

He pulls her closer by the growing second, humming into her lips softly, eventually letting out a dreamy sigh, pulling away without letting go of her glance.

The brushed tint of peach and red glows on her cheeks, but despite that she grins looking at him lovingly, pulling back in for a quick kiss on the lips then humming a little cutely on it, eventually pulling away with a grin.

Serotonin and happiness only filling his mind, he pulls her by the waist closer to him, and lifting his other hand to carefully caress the back of her head, pulling her closer to kiss once more.

They end up hugging each other tightly, and left the school around five minutes before their department was dismissed. But they were free and had the last subject off, so they were gonna leave one way or another.

But despite that, their love once more blossomed, as if they could love each other for eternity.
