Todoroki's Theories

Summary:

Todoroki Shoto has a bunch of theories, what happens when he decides to find out if they are true or not?

Or

Just a dork being a dork with a supportive girlfriend.

Notes:

I would quickly like to mention Annabeth_Granger1_EFP here on ao3, since the two of us were talking about how we liked the 'Todoroki is Theory-Man" headcanon and we discussed one theory in more detail, which I can't wait to write. Anyways, I wanted to thank Annabeth_Granger1_EFP for helping me with this idea.

Chapter 1: All Might 2: Electric Boogaloo

Summary:

Todoroki let go of his 'Midoriya is All Might's secret love child' theory, or did he?

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Todoroki twirled his pen around in his fingers, halfway listening to what the teacher was talking about. He let his mind wander, thinking about random things. His date later that week with Momo, his girlfriend. The monthly family dinner he had to go to in a few weeks. The different theories he had.

He only ever told them to Momo, who would always let him finish speaking, which he was thankful for. The one time he had told someone else, that someone else being Midoriya, about one of them, he had gotten flustered and denied it. Todoroki was even more convinced that he was All Might’s secret love child after that reaction.

He had told Momo about it once they got closer and became friends and she had said that their quirks are pretty similar, but she didn’t think Midoriya was All Might’s love child or anything.

Todoroki let it go and hadn’t thought about it for a while, that was, until a week ago.

Todoroki woke up earlier than usual, deciding he would go for his morning run since he couldn’t fall back asleep anyways.

The half fire-half ice quirk user got dressed in his workout clothes and started on his normal daily path.

At the section where he ran in the woods, which was closer to the end of his run, he heard faint voices.

That’s weird, he always ran this path and never ran into anyone. Well, it was earlier than normal. He wondered who the voices belonged to.

He had been planning on just running by them, but when he recognized Midoryia’s voice he slowed down. Upon hearing All Might’s voice too, he stopped fully and decided it wouldn’t hurt him to see what they were doing.

Todoroki peered around a tree, trying to keep quiet. It looked like they were just training together, which made sense, like a few people had mentioned, their quirks were pretty similar.

Sighing, he was about to turn around and start back on his path, he didn’t know why he was disappointed, he didn’t even know what he’d been hoping to see. Maybe he hadn’t fully let go of his theory like he thought he had.

“Well, done my boy!” Todoroki heard All Might say loudly.

Wait, my boy? Todoroki turned back around and saw the previous number one hero, although he was still the best hero in Todoroki’s opinion, hugging Midoriya in what looked like a bone crushing hug - though Midoriya did that just fine on his own.

Todoroki’s breath caught in his throat and he sped away, he needed to tell Momo about how he’d been right.

He opened the door to her room with the key she’d given him in case of emergencies, which Todoroki considered his news an emergency, he’d given her a key to his room too for the same reason.

“Momo?” He whispered after he closed the door behind him, seeing her still asleep in her bed, it was still early after all.

He slowly walked over to her bed and called her name again.

Momo grunted and opened an eye, “What is it Shoto?”

“You will never believe what I just saw,” he said as he pushed a piece of hair away from her face and kissed her forehead.

Momo, awake and blushing now, hummed.

“I woke up early today and couldn’t fall back asleep, so I just decided to go on my run earlier. And when I got to the forest part of it, I heard voices, you’ll never believe who was there-”

“Midoriya and All Might?” Momo asked.

“Yeah and they were- Wait, how did…” Todoroki trailed off.

“You’ve only ever been this excited when you first told me about your theory.”

“I’ve been this excited a few times, like when I took you to see my mom the first time.”

“It’s a different kind of excitement, this one is more… crazy.”

“Are you calling me crazy?” Todoroki asked, confused.

“No, I’m calling your excitement crazy. There’s a difference. Anyways, continue with what you were saying,” Momo said and brushed a strand of hair away from his eye.

“They were training, and at first I thought ‘makes sense, since they have similar quirks’ so I was about to start running again when I heard All Might say-”

“Wait, were you spying on them?!” Momo asked, giving him a look.

“No. Well, maybe…” Todoroki admitted sheepishly.

“Shoto!” the creation hero exclaimed.

“Don’t worry, they didn’t see me.”

“That still doesn’t…” Momo sighed. “What did All Might say?”

“He called Midoryia his boy!”

After Momo raised an eyebrow at him, he told her exactly what he had heard the former pro hero say.

“Shoto… that’s just what he says,” she said after he was done.

“Yeah! Because he’s his kid!” Todoroki said triumphantly. “I have to go make a plan to ask him about it again.” He gave his girlfriend a quick kiss and hurried off to his room, leaving behind a stunned and tired Momo.

Todoroki shifted his gaze over to Midorya at the front of the class, going over his plan again. It wasn’t really a plan per se, more like just saying something vague about it and then not saying anything else until Midoriya caved in and confirmed it.

Todoroki had to admit, he wasn’t the best at making plans, that was more his girlfriend's forte, but he had the feeling she wouldn’t help him with this.

He saw Momo turn to him out of the corner of his eye. He looked at her and saw that she was giving him a look that said stop scheming and pay attention

Todoroki feigned a look of innocence and looked back towards the front of the class, getting back to what he was thinking about.

He would start the plan at lunch, where he would mention something about it. And then as more time and days pass, he would drop more obvious hints about what he was trying to get his friend to say.

He saw Momo give him the look again, his eyes had wandered over to Midoriya subconsciously as he was plotting. He looked over at his girlfriend and smiled sheepishly at her. She smiled back at him and shook her head.

A few hours later, him, Iida, Midoriya and Uraraka were sitting at their usual table in the cafeteria, trays of food in front of them.

Todoroki waited until there were only a few minutes left of their lunch break. He looked at the clock and saw that it was almost time.

“I’ll go take our trays back,” Iida offered, they had made a system so that one of them took all of their trays away, they switched off who did it on which day, and that day was Iida’s turn.

The engine quirk user stacked the trays on top of each other and left to put them away.

“I have a question for you Midoriya,” Todoroki started, thinking that this was his chance.

Midoriya, who was talking to Uraraka, looked over at him, “What is it?” he asked.

“You go on a daily run early in the morning, right?”

“Yeah? Where are you going with this Todoroki?” Midoriya squinted his eyes.

“How early do you wake up normally?”

“Around an hour and a half before school starts.”

“Todoroki, what are you getting at?” Uraraka asked, her confusion apparent.

“Are you sure you’re not doing anything else?” Todoroki pushed.

He was met with silence, job complete.

It was at that moment that Iida came back and the bell rang, signaling that the break was over and it was time to get back to class.

Todoroki stood up and fell into line next to Iida as the two started back to their classroom, two confused and suspicious students following a ways behind them.

Two days later and it was the weekend, that meant more time to question Midoriya.

Other than a few confused looks directed towards him, neither of them had mentioned anything about what Todoroki said.

Todoroki was currently reading a book on the couch, Momo next to him studying with Jirou, Uraraka and Kaminari. Them as well as Midoriya had started studying together, Momo and Midoryia helping the others when needed. Todoroki was only there just to be with his girlfriend.

He heard footsteps and then someone tapping on his shoulder. He looked up, resisting the urge to smirk and kept his face neutral.

“Can we talk?” Midoriya asked.

“Sure.” Todoroki nodded and set his book down on the table, glancing at his girlfriend, who shook her head slightly, a smile on her face, probably knowing what this was about.

Midoriya led him to his room and locked the door behind them.

“What were you implying the other day?” Midoriya asked, getting straight to the point.

“That you were training with All Might instead of doing your morning run,” Todoroki answered, sitting down on Midorya’s spinny chair. “Which makes sense, considering your relation to him.”

“M… my what?!” Midoriya exclaimed.

“You know, since he’s your dad and all. It makes sense to want to train with him. It also makes sense why your quirks are so similar too.” Todoroki saw his friend sigh, for whatever reason.

“He’s not-” Midoriya started.

“Then why did he call you his boy?”

“That’s… that’s just what he calls me-”

“Because you’re his son.” Todoroki interrupted.

“And we were out there training because our quirks are similar.” Midoriya persisted, his face growing redder and redder.

“Also because you’re his son.”

There wasn’t a response from Midoriya, whose face was somehow growing more red.

“You’re flustered, that means I’m right.” Todoroki stood up and patted his friend on the shoulder. “Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone other than Momo, your secret’s safe with me.”

He walked out the door, closing it on an embarrassed and shocked Midoriya.

He strolled down the stairs and back into the common room, sitting back down next to Momo, satisfied that his theory was true.

“Was that what I think it was?” Momo whispered.

“If you think it was about Midoriya confirming he was All Might’s son, then yes it was.” Todoroki whispered back.

“Did he even say anything that confirmed it?” Momo asked.

“No. But he was flustered, which is close enough.” Todoroki said proudly.

“Shoto... “ Was all she said in response, smiling slightly.

It was at that moment that Midoriya came back down and sat next to Uraraka, his notes and books in his lap.

“Sorry I’m late, I was out running for longer than I realized,” he said.

He glanced over at Todoroki, who gave him a thumbs up, grabbing his book he was reading before off the table.

Todoroki laid his head in his girlfriend’s lap and started reading his book again, still satisfied about his discovery.

Hope you enjoyed! :)

If you have any suggestions for a theory I should write, I would be happy to hear them!
