Chapter 1: A Normal Day... Right?
Summary:
Don't be petty over some t-shirt.
Chapter Text
Hawks thought everything was going normal today, it was little more quiet but that's probably because Endeavor was in the neighborhood and villains are going to fuck with a hero with a 95% capture rate. Only person to ever beat that is All Might with his 98% capture rate; Hawks bet that would be a 100% if the Hero Comission liked him and if they didn't count the 'hero-in training" periods... what kind of villain had the ability to get away from All Might. And add to his sickly smaller form, something must've happened. A chill ran up his spine with the thought of a villain smart enough to evade and injure the Symbol of Peace himself. He'll press All Might on that later, or a person who know about it. Maybe Detective Tsukauchi, he seems close enough to All Might to know of any fuck-ups he had made.
Hawks was near the end of his patrol route when he walked into Best Jeanist who seemed to be on patrol also, as so that's why the crimerates so slow 3 top ten members in one area is certainly enough to stop most organized crime and some of the on moment crimes. "Morning Best Jeanist!" Hawks smiled at his coworker, Best Jeanist was a bit too uptight for him, but he was still a kind person, even though he doesn't really like Endeavor calling his behavior 'unsightly'. Hawks called it determined and focussed.
"Good Morning Hawks, how is your patrol going?", Best Jeanist turned his attention towards the feathered hero.
"Great, it's really quiet today, should've been expected since there's three top ten in the city." Hawks chuckled at the end of the sentence. It's true he was doing a little more fan-work than work-work that day so he enjoyed it a little more. Talking to happy people was easier than dealing with villains or the commission so Hawks usually thought his patrols as the best part of his day. No life-or-death situations or the commission breathing down his neck about how terrible his last interview went. Hawks realised if he finished his patrol now he's going have to deal with the commission and he wasn't really ready for that, "You mind if I patroled with you? I'm almost done with my route and I kinda don't feel like finishing up patroling. Ya know, you got a feeling that's something big is gonna happen when your inside.", Hawks shifted and gave a small gesture.
"Yes I do know that feeling quite well, that's why I'm currently patroling. I just had a feeling, it's reassuring that another hero has the same one." Jeanist replied looked at Hawks' still questioning face and continued, "So you can join me.".
Jeanist is surprisingly good at small talk, they were currently talking about their favorite fan meetings. A lot of people ask Best Jeanist for fashion help, he was talking about this one kid who was friends with the explosive blonde that was Bakugo from the sports festival was wearing crocs in civilian clothes and how much his outfit was monstrosity and needed fixing. Apparently Bakugo agreed with him stating that he has been trying for months to get him to stop, but his collection had only grown bigger and he also found out that Bakugo's parents were fashion designers. Jeanist said it explained on how good he was at giving fashion advice excluding the way he phrased it.
A small green-curly haired teenager came walking up to them, "E-excuse me, but can you two please sign my notebook.", he held out a notebook with the words "Hero Analylsis for the Future No. 14" written neatly on it. "The next blank page is page 50." the green-haired teenager mentioned as Hawks took the notebook and pen and automatically flipped to page 50 signed and handed it to Jeanist. "The cover says Hero Analysis for the Future, are you aiming to become a hero kid?" Hawks smiled at the individual as they smiled back "I'm in hero in training really, I just wanted keep the title the same so I guess it's for the future when I finally become a pro just as nod to my past.". The kid bounced foot to foot as he received his notebook and pen from Jeanist, "Thank you so much! Have a nice day!". He waved goodbye and rushed back to wherever he came from.
"He has style, but his shirt was just unbearable." Jeanist said when the kid disappeared around the corner. Hawks snorted a little bit 'of course that's what Jeanist would comment on' "Oh, why?", Hawks inquiried; a white t-shirt and blank pants with red high-tops didn't seem terrible to him. "His t-shirt had the word for T-Shirt written in big black bold at the center of his chest.". Jeanist said in a disgusted tone. Hawks just smiled saying "Maybe he finds it funny.".
They continued walking down the street when Hawks came the realization, "You know if the kid has a shirt that says T-shirt he probably has more that has other clothing names. For example a t-shirt that says 'formal wear'.", Jeanist stopped in his tracks with a horrified look on his face. He thought it over and looked up at Hawks like he just said he was going to murder someone asking "Why? Why must you make me aware this harsh reality?". Jeanist raised a finger at Hawks as he laughed it off, "Dude, it's just some shirts.".
"It's not just some shirts. It's fashion.", Jeanist said in an offended tone. Hawks looked around to see some people with phones out filming and giggling. So, Hawks, being the dramatic bitch he was, decided to wave it off as it was nothing, "So? It's his fall, honestly I find them a little bit amusing.", Hawks crossed his arms and turned his head a bit, winking at the cameras. That's when a villain attack happened down the streets and Hawks broke his stance to go deal with it, Jeanist not too far behind him.
The villian was fairly easy to apprehend, so Hawks decided to joke and tell the truth when he was asked by Jeanist what the person was stealing by saying, "Just some T-shirts.", Hawks smirked at Jeanist's offended face as he gaped at Hawks. That loosened Jeanist's control over the villain which gave them chance grab Hawks' arm, but was immediately ripped off when Jeanist came back to his senses. The villain and turned into the police, but the damage was already done... Hawks... was a kid.
Jeanist didn't panic, he's dealt with children before but Hawks looked so scared when he addresses by his hero name. He turned to look up at Jeanist asking "Where am I and why am I here?".
"You're at It's Fashion! in the mall by UA.". Jeanist stated as he crouched to be on his level; wondering if he had the adult's memories or the memories of whatever age he was at, "What do you remember?".
"I remember my last trainer getting upset at me and quitting, but that yesterday. I think it's around 9:23 am for me?", Hawks shrinked as if he could've said the wrong answer. Jeanist pulled out his phone, "Well you're not wrong, it's current 9:23- no 24 am.". 'What to do is the question I could take him to the Hero Commission, but adult Hawks isn't the biggest fan of them. He probably has his reasons for that and I don't want to throw him into a situation he can't get himself out of... wait doesn't UA have a kid in their care? Plus it's secure with gates and free from the press which the commission is most certainly not. Dailing in the number of the hero commission he got answered by a woman asking how could she helped him. "Hi, I'm Best Jeanist and I was wondering since number two pro hero Hawks got turned into a kid, if I could drop him off at UA high."
There was some silence at the other end.
"Why would you want to drop him at UA high?"
Jeanist was kinda taken aback by the bite in the woman's voice, "Because UA has top-notch security so Hawks won't be undergoing the press or other villain attacks while he's in a weakened state. To add on UA already has a child in their care so they're more equipped to take care of another for how long this quirk lasts. On top of that doesn't UA have his intern Tokoyami, a person that he knows well?". Jeanist was proud of his argument as the woman let out a sigh and a fine as long they got UA's permission to. Quickly dialing in the number of Earaserhead -because that's the only one he's got, plus their in the dorms so everyone is in close vicinity to each other. He heard a tired "Hello?" through the phone.
"Hello Earaserhead, I'm Best Jeanist and would like to request to speak to Nedzu. I apologize for calling through your phone, it was the only contact I have for UA staff due to internships.".
Best Jeanist could feel Earaserhead's tired sigh in his soul, it was the sigh he would have after doing paperwork for the fifth hour straight or when he would look at some very terrible fashion choices, 'I'm looking at you, Bakugo's friend'. Nedzu answered the phone "Good Morning, Best Jeanist. What has you calling us today?".
Jeanist looked at the confused, scared kid whose jacket swallowed him whole, "How would you like to take care of a child version of Hawks? He got hit by a some kind reverse quirk and now is a kid and I don't have the specifics on how long.". Jeanist could hear Nedzu's demonic laugh, not comforting, "I also already got permission from the commission.". Nedzu's laugh just got worse. At the end he said "Sure, I'll have some passes ready for you once you've arrived.". And with that he hung up.
Jeanist crouched to Hawks level who stumbled back a little to put some space between them. Hawks looked at him with a hawk's gaze as Jeanist explained, "I called the commission and UA, I got them to both agree to let me take you to UA so you would be in a safe place as a kid. So are you ready to walk to UA?". Hawks slowly nodded, and Jeanist stood up and started walking. "You coming?", Jeanist outstretched a hand for Hawks to hold. Hawks hopped... like a bird, both feet together and fucking hopped. He grabbed Jeanist's hand and continued to hop like his life was just for hopping. As if he was taking note of th questioning looks he was getting from outsiders, Hawks' frown deepened as he changed from hopping with both feet together to hopping from foot to foot. He was putting all his focus into his hoping from foot to foot that he didn't notice his jacket falling off. Jeanist used his quirk to bring it to his free hand as Hawks continued his focussed hopping. They got adoring looks as they walked the streets, but no one approached them.
It was around 10:00am when they had finally made it to UA, it took 30 min. to do a 10 min. walk due Hawks' hopping, but Jeanist wasn't going to hold it against him. Nedzu was at the gate waiting for them with passes in hand. "Here you go!" Nedzu practically sang as he extended his arms with two passes one extended to Hawks, the other extended to Jeanist. Jeanist took his and Hawks took his... with some hesitation. Nedzu led them through the property telling both of them not to worry about cameras because they had already told them if they saw any pro heroes walking through the property not to take pictures when they had started the dorms. Hawks continued his focussed hops all the way to the UA teacher dorms. To see a cluster of three heroes, Present Mic, Earaserhead, and Midnight on the couch with a small girl drawing with them proudly showing the three adults her drawing.
Their attention turned to the two once the entered through the doorway, the small girl smiled and ran over to where Hawks was. She reached out to grab Hawks' hand and led him away from Jeanist. Well less lead and more dragged but Hawks didn't seem to mind just happy enough to around a kid his age. She placed him down on the couch that didn't have adults on it and gave him a red crayon saying "It's like your wings!", and a piece of paper telling him to draw something that he liked.

Chapter Text
Midoriya didn't know how to feel. He was sitting on the couch in the common room; wearing shorts and a white t-shirt with the word 'shirt' printed in blank ink on it. Staring down at his phone he just got a text from his teacher telling him to come to the teacher dorms ASAP. Usually he's only called to the teacher dorms if 1) he was in trouble, 2) Eri wanted to play, or 3) Eri had a nightmare and the teachers' comforts weren't working.
Given that it was the middle of the day, the last one didn't seem likely, and if Eri wanted to play it would be come as soon as you can. Not you better be here in the next 5 min. or face certain death. To add on, Midoriya hasn't done anything to call a teacher-student meeting... Midoriya was stumped and his nerves were only rising by the min. as he slipped on his shoes and walked towards the teacher dorms. Going over the past week, trying to recall something; anything that would call for him to be in trouble. It had to something he did, right?
Reaching the door to the teacher dorms he did three soft knocks. He heard Aizawa-sensei's tired grumble of "I'm coming!". He observed a couple murmurs; two of them belonging to Mic-sensei and Recovery Girl aka a living breathing gremlin. The last murmur he heard sounded familiar, but he couldn't pinpoint whose voice it belonged to. Aizawa-sensei opened the door greeting him "Hello, Midoriya; come in, I have a job for you.". A job. Huh, so he wasn't in trouble; Midoriya let out a small sigh of relief and then his anxiety suddenly darted in 'What job?'.
Midoriya started going over ever single thing Aizawa-sensei could want him to do, but Eri's voice shouting "DEKU!" with a bright smile as she ran up to him from her spot of the couch. Grabbing his hand she started to drag Midoriya towards the couch; looking around the room he observed the fact that Present Mic, Recovery Girl, and Best Jeanist -this is not the time to fanboy Midoriya; you can do that later- were all standing in the kitchen talking amongst themselves.
Eri pushed him to sit on the couch; bringing his attention to the small dirty-blonde child with an oversize coat that looked a lot like Hawks' hero costume coat, but he wasn't going to press. Midoriya sat criss-crossed on the couch; he noticed the boy slowly mimicking him by sitting criss-crossed too. He seemed to be coloring a tree with a red crayon. Eri was showing Midoriya pictures that she drew, mostly of him and Lemillion... some of Aizawa-sensei and Mic-sensei. Midoriya complimented each drawing pointing out small little details as Eri grin just grew bigger.
The small blonde boy seemed to be overly aware of his presence though; glancing at him and the pro heroes around the room, while he drew a tree with a red crayon. Midoriya could read the nervous energy radiating off of him; it much like his own, scared and alone. Whatever reason the child was here; it didn't matter because he looks so lost, doesn't matter who he is; just that he's scared even though he's safe. Midoriya felt the need to comfort and make this boy feel safe; but how?
The drawing. Children draw their feelings to feel hope, to display them. So that tree must have some importance for the child to draw it. Midoriya mustered up a very soft quiet voice... barely audible, "That's a nice tree you're drawing there. I like how you shaped the leaves.". Eri drew her attention to the boy's drawing too singing praise of it too. He looked a little shocked at the compliment but then mutter a very soft 'Thank you' in return. His voice was so full of pain; Midoriya offered him a soft smile to hide his worry as Eri spoke "Deku, you can draw really good too!", Eri grabbed some paper shoving it into his hands.
"Thanks Eri-chan!", Midoriya offered a smile to Eri; who seemed to just grin even bigger. The blonde boy seemed to be a little less tense then he was before Midoriya complimented his drawing. 'That's good; made him feel a little bit safer.' Midoriya thought to himself, but he questioned out loud "Now, what should I draw?", in glee offering both of the children to answer the question. Eri seemed dead-set on letting the blonde choose by just humming to herself "I don't know!" as she started a new drawing of the scene that seemed to be happening.
The boy seemed to pause, realising that this decision was his to make. He looked at he was in deep thought before quietly saying "Endeavor.". Midoriya wasn't really shocked by the choice of the current number one; so Midoriya decided to see how well this kid liked Endevour by inquiring "Which costume?".
Which seemed to catch the boy on surprise with him looking up excitedly whisper asking, "Endeavor has multiple costumes?" there some stars coming into his eyes when they were talking about Endeavor. So Midoriya pulled out his phone to pull up pictures of Endevour. Midoriya ordered them from earliest to the most recent. Once the photos were in proper order he extends his arm with his phone in hand. The small boy seemed to latch onto his arm as soon he saw what was on it. Taking note that the boy didn't want to let go as Midoriya named the hero costume, the years Endeavor wore it, and explaining the support items along with Endeavor's quirk and other basic hero trivia; Midoriya shift the blonde into his lap. He did flinch a bit when he was being moved, but he relaxed even more when he realised where he was.
"This is his more recent costume! Midoriya swiped to the last photo; to Endeavor's most recent costume "This is the one he teamed up with Pro Hero: Hawks with.". A sudden confusion filled the young boy's face as heard the name Hawks. His face filled with fear as he turned his head up to ask "Hey Deku-kun. What year is it?", his hands were still clunged onto Midoriya's arm and hand. Midoriya responded and the younger boy's eye went wide saying, "I-i I think I've been blasted into the future or older me has been sent to the past.".
"What makes you think that?" Midoriya inquiried the small blonde; looking at Hawks in the photo, he starting notice similarities between the two. "Because..." the boy shift so he could lose the over-sized coat without leave Midoriya's lap, "I'm Hawks.".

Chapter Text
Deku made an 'oh' face. Looking at the small boy and signature wings; who had still not stopped clutching his arm. The miniaturized Hawks turned to Best Jeanist who seemed to be finishing the story with the other three. All of them looked upset at something; Hawks shrunk away when the adults glanced at him; caving himself into Deku. Hawks wanted to ask a question, but for some reason couldn't muster the courage to ask. Eri noticed how he caved into Deku and looked questionably at Hawks, "Hawks-kun. Hey, what's wrong?".
Hawks eyes softened a bit when they saw Eri, "I want to ask a question... but I don't know if I'm allowed to.". Hawks looked down at his feet and thought 'my feet hurt, a lot; I wish I could remove these shoes. But Deku-kun and Eri-chan might see my ugly scary feet and not talk to me anymore.'.
Deku started rubbing Hawks' shoulders as he reassured them that the Pros would readily answer any of his questions without judging or hating him. And even if he didn't want to ask the question himself; Midoriya could ask it for him and act as the middleman. Hawks agreed to the middleman idea, thinking that if Deku-kun was the one to ask it then he would be in less trouble. Hawks made his question barely audible, "What happened? Plus, How and why am I here?".
Hawks already knew the second question's answer though; Hawks was finally doing good enough to be around good people; they were giving him good handlers because he was being good. Hawks was determined to stay good so he could stay with the good people. Deku who was kind enough to let him grasp his arm and hold it as long as he wished; Eri who invited him to draw with her. Hawks wanted to stay with the nice people and be treated nicely. So asking questions was a no... right?
But Deku had offered to ask the questions for him, because he didn't want to do it himself. Hawks didn't want to get his new friends in trouble, but Deku was insistent that he got answers to his questions. But... why? Why did Deku want Hawks to know more? What did Hawks do to deserve such kindness? Was he finally meeting expectations that he could know things? Or is he going to screw this up so terribly that he'll never be able to ask a single question again?
Hawks just squeezed Deku's arm; with a tighter grip. Deku's grip on his phone loosened and his phone fell to the ground making a sound when it collide into the ground. "Sorry." Hawks cringed as he stared at the phone; still his grip was steadfast as ever, 'oh god, I messed it up. They're going to send me back to the mean handlers'.
Deku twisted around Hawks to pick up his phone and place it on the table; stating "It's fine Hawks; see nothing is broken."
'Oh.'
Deku even flipped his phone over a couple times to reassure Hawks that it was fine, "So do you wanna come with me to ask the questions or am I going alone?".
Hawks mumbled a come with and he managed to let go of Deku's arm to only to turn around cling onto his shoulders. Hawks kept profusely apologizing even though Deku was very insistent that it was fine; he carried Hawks over to the Pro Heros, 'danger'.
"Hey Aizawa-sensei," Deku grabbed hold of the attention of the tired man wearing the loose t-shirt, "Me and Hawks were wondering, how did he end up here?". 'Don't include yourself you'll get into trouble too.' .
Hawks pressed his tiny self even further against Deku's body, in fear of the tired man's reaction. 'He's going to be mad that we questioned. I'm in trouble and I got Deku into trouble too.'
"Oh, apparently Hawks got hit by some age-quirk because he teased Jeanist and Jeanist lost hold on the villian giving them a chance to attack Hawks." 'He answered?? What? Why?'
Hawks was a bit shocked but remained where he was; but the tired man known as Aizawa continued "He'll be like this for four days to a week.". 'So being here is only temporary. I knew they wouldn't let me stay with nice people for a long time. I knew that my quirk isn't good enough; that I'M not good enough.'
Deku hummed inquisitively; Hawks felt the vibrations from his chest comforting because he felt like crying. He wanted to stay with Eri-chan and Deku-kun they've been so kind for the past what?.. hour?
Hawks stomach grumbled; 'don't be hungry... hungry is for only for the people who aren't good enough. Plus you don't want to be inconvenient to them; they've been so nice and THIS is how you repay them with your ingratitude.'.
But Deku only chuckled "Huh, I guess it is getting close to lunch time, isn't it? What do you want for lunch; little bird? I'll make almost anything you request if we have the ingredients to make it!". Hawks stared at his new favorite person in the whole wide world, well besides Endeavor, BUT Endeavor was the coolest hero, so you can't really beat him.
(Author's Note: Yes I'm aware of irony of calling the flame hero 'cool')
Hawks had almost forgotten the question, "So are you gonna tell me what you want to eat..." Deku carried Hawks towards the kitchen as Eri was ecstatic to have Deku cook for her and Hawks. Hawks blinked a couple of times, and in a small polite voice, "Fried chicken please..." looking down; knowing that was on the no-no food list on his diet but he REALLY likes it. Deku sang "Fried chicken it is! Do you want fries with that?".
Hawks nodded with a small smile coming to his face. Eri chimed in, "Can we have the apple autumn salad too!", Hawks was having fun as he watched Eri dance around Deku as they worked their way to the bar stools right outside of the kitchen. Deku asked the Pros across the room "Do you guys want fried chicken too? Since I'm making it in the teacher dorm kitchen; I wanted to make sure that I can offer some to anyone who wants some. Oh and that goes to you too Best Jeanist since we're pulling you away from you're regular schedule.".
Best Jeanist, Aizawa, and the loud weird blonde agreed and told Deku about two others wanting fried chicken too -the two others were named Nemuri and Maijima and a person named Nedzu wanting the salad only. The small old lady declined saying it was too unhealthy for her and she'll just have the salad. "Alright little bird, you gotta let go so I can make you some food." Deku requested in a soft voice. 'Ah that's right, Deku can't cook if I'm clinging to him. I really am Bird Brained.'.
Hawks let go to be set gently on a bar stool next to Eri's; as Deku renters the living room; Hawks here the picking up of papers and crayons. Deku reappears setting the papers and crayons in front of the two small children saying "You can color while I make lunch.".
Instead of coloring Hawks decided to watch Deku cook instead of color; mainly because he felt kinda awkward using things that weren't his. The crayons were clearly Eri's, even if she said she was fine with sharing; Hawks still felt guilty for using something that based on the amount of usage. Deku took note of it, asking Hawks if he wanted to help wash potatoes. Hawks nodded, jumping off his stool and scurried around to the kitchen so he could do something helpful. 'Took you long enough.'.
Only to find Hawks wasn't tall enough to reach the sink. Drooping his shoulders, Hawks sighed in defeat. Deku just offered a kind smile as he opened the cabinets under the sink to reveal a small stepping stool. Hawks climbed the stool and quickly started washing and scrubbing the potatoes as Deku place some carrots out to be washed as well. He poured strawberries and blueberries into colanders and a bag of apples to be rinsed. All with the reach of the tiny bird. Deku picked the clean potatoes out of the sink and eyed and sliced them into sticks. He grated the carrots, sliced the strawberries and the apples into bite-sized pieces.
He handed a hand towel to Hawks once Hawks had finished washing the fruits and vegetables and gave instructions on how to make a vinaigrette to him as he made the breading for the fried chicken. Everything was prepared, measured out and placed with arms distance. So all Hawks had to do was mix it all together! There's no way he could screw it up! 'You'll find a way~'
Hawks had eagerly poured the vinegar into the bowl grabbing the whisk, knocking down the oil. 'Told ya.' . Okay, okay... don't panic, don't panic. It's fine right? 'Oh god, I can't even make a vinaigrette; he's going to be so mad that I made a mess.'.
Deku just smiled at Hawks as he grabbed a towel to soak up the spilled oil. "Y-you ar-aren't mad?" Hawks shut his eyes tight bracing himself for what's to come. Deku's hand softly rubbed the top of his head as he chuckled, " Why would I be mad? You made an easily fixable mistake, and nothing got broken, you're fine. It's just some oil.".
"Here's some more oil; let me know if have anymore problems." Deku went back to work on the breading of the fried chicken as Hawks finished the vinaigrette.

Chapter 4: Midoriya's Suspicions
Summary:
Midoriya didn't like it. He didn't like how Hawks behavior reminded him of early recovery Eri. He didn't like how Hawks had been clinging him to as if he was the first kind trustable person he had met in a while; like Todoroki. He didn't like what it implied; his mistrust in heroes, his clingy-ness to him, his over-apologetic behavior over very small unimportant, the way he didn't voice his problems and when did; he fully expected to be hit and ridiculed... they were all signs of abuse.

Chapter Text
Midoriya didn't like it. He didn't like how Hawks behavior reminded him of early recovery Eri. He didn't like how Hawks had been clinging him to as if he was the first kind trustable person he had met in a while; like Todoroki. His over-apologetic behavior and the way he jumped at unexpected movement; like him. He didn't like what it implied; his mistrust in heroes, his clingy-ness to him, his over-apologetic behavior over very small unimportant little things, the way he didn't voice his problems and when did; he fully expected to be hit and ridiculed, the way he would jump if it wasn't Midoriya or Eri approaching him, and many other red flags... they were all signs of abuse.
But how was Midoriya going explain to his teachers the signs without outing him or Todoroki. This was already a fragile situation for Hawks alone, he didn't want to pull unexpecting Todoroki in with him or harm Bakugou's chances in becoming a hero. He didn't want to overstep his lines with Hawks, but he didn't want to ignore the signs. He wanted to ask for advice without fucking over another situation that was just as fragile. Midoriya wanted to burn whoever or whatever abused the poor child infront of him to the fucking ground. Hawks was 8, and there was very little information about him and his childhood. Midoriya didn't want to press for his real name because he knew that it would lead to complications with Adult Hawks, but he wanted to help Kid Hawks so much. Midoriya was at an inpasse, kinda like with Todoroki's problem, but at least they had a plan for that. Over throw his number one status and drag his name through the mud. But with Hawks... Midoriya didn't know who he was against and what exactly was going on. There too many questions that NEEDED answers before Midoriya could make any moves to stop the bitch or bitches that had come to abuse a kid. Or Midoriya could be wrong, that Hawks was just a nervous kid, but that just didn't line up with what Midoriya knew about Hawks and especially with what parts that Midoriya didn't know about Hawks.
Though, the best Midoriya could do right now was to act a good mother/brother-ly figure to Kid Hawks; hoping that the connection that he builds with Kid Hawks will carry onto the Adult Hawks and use that as a way to weasel more information out of Hawks and find a solution to his problem. This situation is probably better played by playing the long-game instead of the short-game like he did with Eri. Hawks wasn't in immediate danger anymore, but it didn't justify whatever happened to him and catching whomever did it to him would put a stop of them from moving on to the next child. It wasn't like it was with Eri; he had known the situation, Overhaul was a wanted criminal, Eri was in immediate danger, and Eri was willing to come with him in the end. This time he doesn't know the situation, he doesn't know if said person is wanted or not, he's not in immediate danger, and he hasn't came to him on the topic. Quite different indeed. The angery splash and sizzle of the chicken hitting the oil reflected how Midoriya felt very well, a new situation has struck him and he was slowly sizzling his way through. Though there was no way this wasn't ending up in his hero notes; they would be encoded too just like Todoroki's and All Mights and the books he writes them in will be kept under special watch. No one knew of the notebooks outside of Bakugou and All Might even when they have moved to the dorms; Midoriya had managed to keep tight lips on his notebooks, but did use them at signature collectors if he didn't have anything else, but he wasn't too worried about those because he was just another face in a crowd when it cakes to fans. His Hero, Vigillente, and Villian analysis books were also kept in small space where no one but him could access easily and even after that he had placed them into a locked box. Midoriya needed to think this one out; take time to research and plan for the best course of action, before ruining it horribly for everyone involved except the people who were profitting off the abuse. Currently Midoriya needed to stay as a person Kid Hawks could trust for anything to work.
Midoriya had removed the cooked chicken out and added another round. He placed plates in front of Eri and Hawks since they were the tiny children who needed to eat first... seriously they were both so small and their clothes just didn't fit right due to lack of eating. Eri was getting better at eating; when she had first came into the dorms she had refused to eat if Midoriya or Mirio wasn't present in the room and even then it took a lot of encouraging to get her to eat a healthy amount. Hawks didn't seem to have that problem as he gobbled down the food. Midoriya's shoulder released a small bit of tension as he turned back and set up another two plates with only salads. He informed Aizawa-sensei to inform Recovery Girl and Nedzu about their salads being done. Mabye they would know what to do... they both knew that One for All was passed to him and that he was quirkless before... they didn't know the bullying and abuse that went behind it, but Midoriya wouldn't focus on his past; that didn't matter, wasn't a topic of concern. He deserved the pain; but Hawks doesn't, he didn't do anything wrong as far as Midoriya knew. So how was Midoriya going to approach this situation; Nedzu would probably be too blunt, Recovery Girl would probably be too forceful. Present Mic-sensei was too loud and abrasive for Hawks comfort. Hawks was confused by and scared of Best Jeanist and didn't know what to think of Aizawa-sensei... Aizawa-sensei seemed like the most logical option because he was the first person that Eri had decided was okay after Mirio and Midoriya. Due to his quiet and indifferent nature, Aizawa-sensei had made it clear that he wouldn't move to hurt Eri, but he wouldn't force her talk if she didn't want to. Sitting in silence was fine by him... perhaps he could get Aizawa-sensei to stick around, let his presence be known, but do nothing but ignore Hawks until Hawks himself approached him. No. Not enough time to do it like that; the quirk was supposed to wear off in 4 to 7 days and as soon he was an Adult again he would probably fly off and pretend that nothing happened. That he doesn't have a past or childhood, back to pretending that there was no problem in the first place. Like Midoriya.
Midoriya has noticed the signs and didn't like them. Didn't like the fact that he currently could do nothing, because 1) he doesn't know a lot about the situations except that it's probably really fragile and 2) he doesn't even know who the offender is; how the fuck was he going to fight nothing. All Midoriya knew that something was wrong and he wanted to make it better; simple, but with how fragile the balance is and the fact that Hawks has been hiding this for at least fourteen fucking years, this was going to be a pain in the ass to fix. But he had to fix it; if not for Adult Hawks -which Midoriya would totally help too -, but for Kid Hawks whose scared of the shadow of a person he thinks is a hero or an executive. Midoriya finished making food for everyone else and sat down with his own sitting next to Hawks.
"You did really good on the vinaigrette." Midoriya smiled at the young child. Who absorbed the comment with immense pride and happiness. Midoriya liked Hawks. Midoriya didn't like whatever and whoever damaged the bird hero.

Chapter 6: Bedtime
Notes:
Sooooo I try to do work, but it's kinda making me brain dead with how slow everything is and how hard it's to understand the speaker. So I'm using this as a brain reviving thing to add on the fact my siblings decide that it's the perfect time to bother me when I'm trying to do work so I'm now working on the fics after dinner till 10:00pm and I'll work on homework 6:00am till my siblings wake up and turn on the TV. That's what I got down for now.... plus I beg for forgiveness for any and all bird puns I have made on accident or on purpose. I'm at 33 percent!!
Chapter Text
Midoriya couldn't blame Hawks for wanting to go with him to the 1-A dorms... he was attached to Midoriya's hip the entire day. Only leaving it to play with Eri or go to the bathroom, he was at slight panic when Midoriya wasn't in a certain range -which varied on how many pro heroes and if Eri was in the room; he would find the problem and absolutely slaughter it, 'murder isn't a herioc duty' be damned. This won't be only child abuse case Midoriya was onboard for; Eri was a prime example along with his, a friendly detective's, and the Todoroki children + mother's "side project". He may not know know what he was doing, but he wasn't totally inexperienced and seemed to be a calming factor for the people stuck in the situation so Midoriya did what was requested of him from the people who knew what to do and did some of the requests of the small children like provide them hugs and reassurance that they aren't in the wrong and it's not their fault.
Kid Hawks still had his arms clutched around Midoriya's torso, begging Midoriya not to go and leave him here without him... though it wasn't doing anything to stop or slow him. Midoriya stopped before the door and Hawks loosened his grip so Midoriya could turn around and kneal down; meeting his eyes. Midoriya reached out to touch both of the young hero's shoulders; Hawks didn't pull away from him so that good. Hawk opened his mouth, thought about what he was going to say then closed it staring into Midoriya's steady emerald eyes.
"I have a compromise." Midoriya started with. Hawks kinda looked shocked, why the fuck is he in shock about a compromise... oh yeah. "I'm going to read both you and Eri a bedtime story, if you have any problems at all; all you have to do is approach anyone in this building and they'll call me over straight away or if you don't want me here, they'll try to help you to their best extent.".
Midoriya offered a reassuring smile. Hawks nodded and wrapped his arms around his neck as Midoriya carried him up to Eri's room, where they had set up a small futon for Hawks for the night. It was undecided if they wanted to move Hawks to the 1-A dorms; they were going to see how he reacts to Tokoyami tomorrow and ask Hawks which group he wanted to stay with.
Hawks was kinda shocked that his begging had worked, partially. Deku was still leaving to wherever the class 1-A dorms were; but at least Hawks got a bedtime story out of it. Usually begging would only end in no breakfast and scolding; telling him to 'grow up', that 'heroes didn't beg or complain.' So Hawks usually kept his mouth shut; only talking when he absolutely had to, working himself far past the limit.
Now, since Hawks was thinking about it, the last time Hawks had a bedtime story was from his mother... back when he was Keigo. Back when he was poor, but loved; not the other way around... but he had Deku now! All he had to do was not screw this up, not to upset Deku, Eri, or any of the handlers. Hawks doesn't know what Deku is, but he definitely isn't a pro hero even though he does hero work, but he wasn't a vigellente because of how the Pros reacted to his presence. Therefore, Hawks concluded that Deku was like him and Eri; a student learning to become a hero, he's just further down the road and Eri was a little bit behind Hawks. The scars on his arms were enough to prove it! Though that kinda made Hawks sad, from what he gathered this round of handlers are really nice -Hawks didn't trust that at all-; which mean Deku probably had different handlers before ending up here. Like him!
Hawks also noticed the amount of nervousness from the boy; like he was expecting this to all be a dream and to wake up one day and everything to go back to whatever it was. Hawks fears that this might be a dream too, since Eri and Midoriya were very nice from the start. But Hawks had pinched himself and confirmed that this is real... maybe Deku needed to pinch himself! Hawks will bring that up to him tomorrow! Midoriya opened a door to room which Hawks assumed was Eri's because Eri was in it ready for bed; holding a book.
"I chose one!" Eri grinned presenting the book to Hawks and Deku. 'All Might's big adventure.' The book had a cartoony version of All Might and in the background there was a villain and Endeavor!
"All Might's Big Adventure?" Deku hummed placing Hawks on the ground and grabbing the book. Hawks hopped from one foot to the other as quickly as he could so he could sit on the bed where Eri had already claimed Deku's left side. Neither of the two had made a comment on his walking 'Was I doing bad??'. Hawks climbed onto the bed and quickly clunged onto Deku's right arm and Deku opened the book and proclaimed the story. Fading out of consciousness around the time the villain had been caught; Hawks had missed the last of the story, but his brain seemed to finish it and make up its own story.
Midoriya closed the book and sighed as he picked up a sleeping Hawks with one arm and repositions a sleeping Eri in her bed and tucked her in. Midoriya placed Hawks on the futon set up on the opposite side of the room; tucking him in too. "Goodnight.", he whispered as he turned off the lights and closed the door softly.
Midoriya had wished the teachers in the livingroom -Midnight, Recovery Girl, Present Mic, and Earaserhead- a goodnight as well as he left the teacher dorms and head to his own; it was around 8:30 pm, his classmates were sure to be wondering where he disappeared to when he left the dorms around 10 am that day. Walking across the campus towards his dorm building; Midoriya enjoyed the serenity of it, the quietness of the night compared to the usually busy and energetic days found at the dorms and UA in general. It was a very nice breathe air. Midoriya was sure that he was going to spend a good portion of his day at the teacher dorms tomorrow and that he would probably be flocked by Hawks and Eri. He's hoping that bringing Tokoyami with him would help with that problem a bit because maybe Hawks would be able to relate to Tokoyami because he's a bird too. The light of the dorms and the lights illuminate the path as the crickets' chirps and cool wind filled the air. When he finally walked into the dorms it was 9:00 pm and he was immediately noticed by Uraraka, Hagakure, and Ashido who were painting nails on the couch.
"Deku! Where have you been? You left in a hurry while you were talking to Todoroki and disappeared." Uraraka smiled as Ashido complained at her to stay still because she way painting her toes pink.
"Oh!", Midoriya started to fumble with fingers "You see I got called out to the teacher dorms...".
Hagakure gasped "The teacher dorms? What did you do this time?".
"Actually this time wasn't for something I did.", Midoriya rubbed the back of his head, "Hawks got hit by some kind of reverse quirk and got turned into a kid. So he's gonna be a child for a little bit and they wanted me to watch over him. He might be staying over here... if he gets along with Tokoyami tomorrow of course. Thinking about that I have to inform Tokoyami that he needs to come to the teacher dorms with me tomorrow morning at 7.".
All three girls seemed to adore the idea of a child Hawks; turning their attention to gossiping about how fun it's going to be or how little people know about Hawks' childhood. Midoriya snuck off to the said bird child's intern. Midoriya sucked in a bit of air and knocked three times against the door. A muffled, "Who's there?" came through the door and some shuffling could be heard.
"Midoriya." answered Midoriya. Tokoyami opened the door and proceeded with the questions, "What is needed of me at such an hour?".
"Oh well Hawks got turned into a kid and the teachers wanted to see if your presence would make him more comfortable 'cause you're a bird too and all.", Midoriya rambled. Tokoyami seemed a little taken aback that he would be asked to hang out with children, but nevertheless responded, "I'll come with you to visit tomorrow, what time?".
"7 am." Midoriya responded quickly. Tokoyami just sighed, "See you in the common room I guess."
"Yep" and with that Tokoyami closed his door and Midoriya went to his room to acquire his PJs and get ready for bed and the hectic day that tomorrow will ensue.
Chapter 7: A Nice Jog.
Summary:
Midoriya goes out on a jog.
Notes:
AAAAAAAA HI!!!! It's currently 3am but that's chill. Music is my soul and my life and there's that and I was very glad to find 'Hero Too' on Spotify.
Chapter Text
Midoriya woke up at 4am due to.... a reason. Midoriya has never slept well and was honestly surprised to have gotten four hours of sleep that night. Fucking middle school is all Midoriya had to say to that. He laid in his bed, brewing on the hell it was; the blood, bruises, burns, and fracture bones... the insults and isolation, the amount of white lilies he had gotten were enough for around 4 bucays of fifteen flowers every month. Everything ached from lying on his bed for an hour when Midoriya had finally mustered the ability to remove his heavy body from his bed. Grumbling about 'how he had to stay stronge' cause 'it's better now' as he head to the bathroom attached to his room, rubbing off the concealer from yesterday revealed eyebags ten times worse than his teacher's.
'Huh, wondering what's haunting him sometimes... maybe it's a dead friend or bullying. Given that's he's a workaholic and doesn't get a lot of sleep. He works with teenagers that want to be heroes... maybe a friend dying on line during an internship sent him down this path. He seems to know Mic-sensei real closely too so maybe they were both friends with the guy and both became teachers to honor or prevent what happened to him happening to us. That would explain his 'be prepared or don't interfere' and beridding people with no potential. I'll add that to my Earaserhead notes in notebook 8. Encripted of course, don't want sensitive topics to be in there for the world to see without it being encripted in someway or another. That's just rude; though is pondering about your teacher's past kind of rude too... are the notebooks' existence rude?.. Kinda like mine. Wait. Deku, means Useless. No. Yes.' The inner turmoil continued as he applied the hero-grade concealer that he uses; it can withstand water, heat, sweat, or whatever a hero goes throughout a day so perfect if you want to conceal your unholy eyebags from the world. Luckily his eyebags don't touch any freckles so he doesn't have to worry about making fake freckles ontop of the concealer. He brushed his teeth and walked back into his main room, walking towards his dresser. The turmoil came to an end deciding that he was currently useless, but one day he shall be useful since he hasn't been expelled...

Deku changed into his workout clothes - some blue shorts, white socks, and a t-shirt that said 'Gym Clothes'. -, grabbed his phone, notebook, and earbuds, and ventured quietly downstairs -to put his shoes on- and outside. Once outside he observed his surroundings, no one was out yet, not even the sun who lingured over the horizon like it was debating today was good day to get up or just lay in bed for 5 more minutes. Deku could relate to that. He set his notebook labeled 'Exercise Log' and opened his phone to play his work-out playlists that now started with 'Hero Too' by Earphone Jack released by Present Records since the digitized version was made. Deku started his training regimen, recording his progress after each exercise. Smiling at his improvement and his friend's achievement, Midoriya got ready for his jog the one thing that he didn't record, but enjoyed the most. Midoriya passed some UA students and staff who had the same idea of exercising in the mornings, waving and smiling at them and same returned. It was nice, how people treated him nowadays. He doesn't have to worry about people attacking him, except villains, but villains attacked everyone even themselves. Like Kacchan and him antagonizing his goonies -a name he made when he was a kid for his 'followers'- when Midoriya had escaped them due to their failure. But Kacchan wasn't a villian and he was going to the best hero he can be. So comparing him to them wasn't fair or herioc so Deku should stop before he starts thinking more on the topic. Deku was damned good at hide-and-seek, he's even beaten Hagakure so he's gotten some attention for his ability to hide. He just say thanks when he's complimented over it, but he would never tell them why. You just can't say 'Thanks, I appreciate the compliment, but I developed that skill from years of hiding from bullies.', not when one of your bullies is in your class and getting better. He hasn't attacked anyone outside of training in UA so there's that.
Deku continued running circling the entirity of UA five or six times... he lost count due to losing himself in thought. Deku returned back to the dorms a bit sweaty, but not drenched. To see an impressed Kaminari sitting on the porch in his PJs. "Dude, you must've at least ran 20 laps around whatever you running around.", Kaminari smiled at him... oh he was that lost in his head that he didn't realise that he ran around the school that much. Deku smiled back at his electric haired friend, picked up his notebook and walk inside. 6:30 am. Deku rushed upstairs, silently of course because today is a Sunday and his friends deserved their rest. Thanks to Kacchan and friends once again, Deku is able to move quickly and silently so... yeah to that. Deku took a hot shower and put on clean clothes for the day. Midoriya cleared his head and walked down the stairs to meet Tokoyami, skipping breakfast fine... nothing he hasn't done before.
Chapter 8: Hey y'all
Chapter Text
I will come back to this but right now I'm kinda more or less hyper focussed on Music Man and a couple of others right now. I will be back to writing this but my brain is kinda weird were I jump from one idea to another circling back around sooooo yeah. Sorry it might take me a bit for a chapter to come out on this. (There is a chapter in progress right now for when I get writers block in my other fics or I feel the instinctual need to write Hawks and Midoriya around each other.) Sorry for not really informing you guys that this one's updates are going to be really spaced out since its on a back burner.
