Wang Yibo is snuggled on Xiao Zhan's side, limbs tangled together and arms crossed over their bodies. He's sleepy, and he knows he should be sleeping now but Xiao Zhan still hasn't moved to turn off the lamp meaning, he doesn't want to sleep yet.
However, contrary to his thoughts, Xiao Zhan presses a kiss on his hair and whispers. "Sleep, Bo-di. You had a long day."
Wang Yibo huddles closer— if that's even possible, only satisfied when he's almost laying atop Xiao Zhan, can hear the steady beats of his heart, drowning in the unnecessary background noise at the distance. A lot of things feel different today—weird even, and that starts with Xiao Zhan coming in and leaving the door slightly ajar.
"I can't sleep, ge." Wang Yibo murmurs. The hand on his waist moves, and begins to rub comforting circles on his back. He hums in satisfaction, but it's still not enough. "Turn the lights off."
Surprisingly, Xiao Zhan stills his movements. Before Wang Yibo can think that he said anything wrong, he's given an explanation. "You don't sleep with the lights off."
Wang Yibo huffs, finding it absurd, mind a little muddled to pick up the worried tone that laced his voice. "With you, I do." He answers simply. He adjusts his position, and groans when the previous sounds penetrate the peace he's ensconced in. He immediately recognizes what it is, now that he isn't intent on blocking it. "Zhan-ge, why did you leave the television on?"
"So you can sleep better."
That doesn't make sense. But Xiao Zhan resumes with his soothing ministrations so he lets it slide. He's teetering on the edges of sleep, lulled slowly, when Xiao Zhan speaks again.
Wang Yibo loves him enough that he can restrain himself from snapping at him. The dark circles under his eyes are going to be prominent later, if Xiao Zhan will keep this up.
"How come you never told me about your sleeping routines?" Xiao Zhan asks. He doesn't understand— he's not functioning well right now, and he will appreciate it if Xiao Zhan will shut his gorgeous mouth. "Tell me, have you had troubles sleeping when you're with me?"
"No troubles. The best." Wang Yibo deadpans, words a bit muffled. Xiao Zhan makes a disapproving sound, makes a move to get away and Wang Yibo will have none of that. "Really, no troubles at all." He cajoles, and this effectively calms Xiao Zhan, though he's still a little tense under his touches for reasons he doesn't know.
He reluctantly pulls his face away from where it's burrowed on Xiao Zhan's chest. Xiao Zhan is worried about something—that something clearly involves him, and the faster he settles this with him, the faster he'll be allowed to sleep. "What's with these sudden questions?"
"At that interview that we did before," Xiao Zhan starts, sounding strangely cautious. "You told us that you can't sleep with lights completely off, and you always have your television on." Wang Yibo tries to focus on his words, and not on the gentle rumble of Xiao Zhan's voice that reverberates against their pressed chests. "Why did I just hear about it? You're not adjusting for me, are you?"
So that's what it is. Wang Yibo can remember the interview that he's talking about, but it was already weeks ago since then. Granted, tonight is also the first time when the gap in their schedules finally matches, so Xiao Zhan must have waited to ask him about this personally. However, this still doesn't explain his urgency in speaking about this matter.
"Not important." He says eventually, because it really isn't. "Not adjusting to you too."
"But—"
Wang Yibo sighs, before he's hitching himself up— shooting Xiao Zhan an apologetic smile for accidentally digging his elbow on his ribs, and then he's slotting their lips together— Xiao Zhan immediately grips on his waist to steady him. Wang Yibo can still hear him thinking so he swipes his tongue on his lower lip, asking for an entrance in which he's granted instantly with a soft groan.
Time is just a concept when he's kissing Xiao Zhan— all his senses focusing on the sweet drag of their lips against each other and nothing else, unhurried and so so warm. They eventually part when breathing becomes a necessity they can't ignore anymore— Wang Yibo taking a moment to drink the image in front of him, before landing a solid smack on Xiao Zhan's smiling mouth just because he can. He collapses on top of the older man again, sated and lethargic more than he was earlier— the kiss makes him feel lighter, leaving a relaxing thrum that settles deep in his bones.
Wang Yibo swears that it was solely for Xiao Zhan at first because nothing could distract him better than being kissed thoroughly, but he fails to account that Xiao Zhan is a fantastic kisser too and now he really really needs to sleep.
"Feels safe." He hears himself mumble moments later, with him now rearranged comfortably on Xiao Zhan's arms. "With you, I feel safe enough— don't need 'em."
Xiao Zhan may have replied to that, but he doesn't hear it anymore, as he finally allows himself to fall at the throes of sleep— with the image of Xiao Zhan's blushing face imprinted behind his lids.

Wang Yibo isn't lying when he says that his best nights are with Xiao Zhan.
