    He watches fat, round tears fall from Obanai’s lashes. Half of them drip onto his yukata, the other half seeps into the bandages covering his mouth. But Obanai doesn’t move.
    Helpless Kyoujurou puts the sweet potato onto the tatami before Obanai’s feet. “Please,” he begs, retreating backwards. “Don’t die.”
