Work Text:
I'm upstairs in my room
You're downstairs dancin'
I'll just wait here for you
I'll just keep campin' in my bed
Build a tent, hold some pillows, and pretend
We're upstairs in my room
While they're downstairs dancin'
You slammed another one of the shots Polnareff had ordered you, grimacing at the burn of the alcohol sliding down your throat.
"Bahaha!! How can you down those so fast, chérie?" The man in question laughed heartily, both of you already a bit tipsy from the shots you had both taken.
"I'm just not a baby like you!" You retorted, sticking your tongue out at him and downing another shot. Joseph and Avdol, who were seated at the bar next to the two of you, both laughed.
"Hey! I'm not a baby! See?" He says downing a shot of his own. He attempted to give you a smug look, but ended up choking a bit on the alcohol and mostly just looked like a fool.
"Yare yare daze…. I'm going up to my room." Jotaro was less than amused by the tomfoolery of the rest of you.
"Ok party pooper~" You said playfully, sticking your tongue out at him and giggling. Yeah… you were definitely feeling the effects of the alcohol at this point. You made a mental note to slow down a bit.
He gave you a harsh glare, before stalking off wordlessly.
"Sheesh, what's his problem?" Polnareff asked, elbowing you in the side playfully.
"What isn't his problem?" You snorted.
Joseph stretched his arms behind his head and let out a classic dad groan.
"I think I'm gonna head to bed, too. We're gonna have a long day ahead of us tomorrow." He stood up from his chair and grabbed his hat from the counter, placing it on his head.
"Try not to get into too much trouble while I'm gone. Avdol, if you wouldn't mind, I have some things I'd like to discuss with you before we all go to bed."
"Of course, Mr. Joestar." Avdol stood to follow him before turning to wave to you and Polnareff. When the two of them had finally left, Polnareff turned to you with a cheesy smirk on his face.
"I guess it's just you and me now, eh, chérie?" He rested his head on one of his hands and looked at you expectantly. You snorted at him and shook your head, downing one last shot.
"Calm down, Romeo. I think I'm gonna go to bed too."
"Awww, you can't stay just a little longer? I think they're gonna start up some karaoke soon!" He pouted his lips and gave you the saddest puppy dog eyes he could muster.
"Fine… I will sing ONE song with you." You relented with a sigh. His eyes lit up and he clapped excitedly.
"Magnifique!! Come on, y/n!" He excitedly pulled you from your chair and over to the stage. You stumbled a bit, but grabbed onto his arm for balance, letting him lead you.
As the two of you climbed onto the stage, Polnareff leaned down to the man operating the karaoke equipment and whispered something, which you assumed was a song request.
You fumbled a bit with the microphone stand, your drunken state making it a bit difficult to extract the microphone. Polnareff took his place next to you, clapping you on the shoulder a bit too roughly as he grabbed his own microphone. He smiled at you and winked as the music queued up, the opening tune of "Walk Like an Egyptian" blasting from the speakers. You sputtered out a laugh at his song choice, but belted out the lyrics with just as much enthusiasm as him. Which was to say, a lot of enthusiasm.
The two of you danced around each other as you sang, struggling a bit to get the words out as you both laughed at each other, the alcohol in your systems definitely not doing you any favors in your performance.
Kakyoin had been madly in love with you from the moment you had joined them on their quest to defeat DIO. You were breathtakingly beautiful and your personality was just as perfect. You were always so kind and you always kept the group in high spirits with your wit and humor. As much as he longed to spend time with you, he could never seem to catch your attention for long enough. You tended to hang around with Polnareff the most, and though he hated to admit it, he would feel cold jealousy worming it's way through his veins everytime you would laugh with Polnareff, or sit next to him at places they stopped.
He wanted you to sit with him , and laugh with him . He wanted so desperately to call you his, but he knew he probably never would. He sighed and rolled over in bed, kicking the blankets off of himself restlessly. He sat up and rubbed his hand down his face before flipping on the TV, some black and white movie playing. He didn't really care what was on, he just wanted a distraction.
When you had all gotten to the hotel, you had mentioned you were tired and he had hoped this meant you would be heading to bed soon. He offered to share a room with you, and you graciously accepted. He had felt his heart swell at that, but when he mentioned he would be going to bed, you didn't follow. He wasn't even really tired, he had just hoped to have some time alone with you, so his heart dropped when you said you were going to have some drinks with the others first.
When he had gotten to the room, he had hoped that you wouldn't spend too long with them before joining him in your shared room. But as he laid there waiting for you, 30 minutes turned into an hour, which then turned into two. When Jotaro had popped by to say goodnight and you still weren’t coming up, his heart sank. Shortly after, Mr. Joestar and Avdol followed to do the same, and his heart continued to sink lower and lower. It was not lost on him that you were now alone, and most likely drunk, with Polnareff. This wasn't to say Kakyoin had any problems with Polnareff. He didn't, but he knew how flirty the Frenchman was, and he knew how close the two of you were. The thought of you being alone with him settled like a cold weight in his stomach. He imagined the two of you flirting and cozying up together as you drank. Him leading you to the dance floor, the two of you laughing together as you danced. Polnareff wrapping his arms around you, and you leaning up towards him, your lips nearly meeting his, and… Kakyoin shut his eyes tightly, willing his imagination to stop, but try as he might, the thoughts kept ringing in his mind.
He stared at the TV, not really comprehending what was happening on it, his lip slightly quivering as he cuddled a pillow to his chest. He could feel his throat getting tighter and his eyes slightly tearing up. He didn't want to cry over something so stupid, but he wasn't sure how much longer he could hold it back. He let out a shaky sigh and pulled out his stand. Green Hierophant rubbed his back comfortingly, while he leaned against the stand's chest.
After a few moments, he came up with an idea to distract himself and he and his stand went to work on it.
You stumbled to the door of the room you were sharing with Kakyoin, leaning on Polnareff for support as the two of you giggled like drunken idiots. You fumbled a bit with the key before throwing your hands up in frustration. Polnareff laughed at your struggle before knocking on the door so Kakyoin could let you in. You leaned your head against the door, and when it finally opened you fell forward with a yelp. Kakyoin lifted his arms to catch you, but before he could, you were pulled backwards into Polnareff's chest.
"Careful, chérie!" Polnareff said, helping you steady yourself before letting you go.
You missed the slight grimace that passed over Kakyoin's face as you thanked Polnareff for saving you.
"Keep an eye on her," Polnareff shot Kakyoin a slightly concerned look. "We drank a bit more after karaoke and I think she might be a bit of a lightweight." He adds laughing at the indignant look on your face.
"I'm not a lightweight! I'm just not a giant man like the rest of you! I'm normal!" You attempt to give him an intimidating glare, but you somehow manage to stumble a bit just trying to stand, so it doesn’t really have the intended effect.
He shakes his head at you, giving you a fond smile.
"I'll leave you with Kakyoin then, chérie. Goodnight." He gives you a hug and you plant a kiss on his cheek. He lets go of you with a smile and turns to head down the hall to his own room.
When you turn back to Kakyoin, you see he has his head turned away from you. You stumble into the room and he shuts the door behind you. The sight before you leaves you awestruck.
In your absence, Kakyoin had built an elaborate blanket fort. Hierophant's tentacles were laced through the fort, glowing softly, and providing a cozy ambiance.
You squeaked and clapped your hands together like an excited child.
"You built a fort?? Oh my gosh, can I hang out in it too? It looks so cozy!" You rambled on excitedly. He smiled at your excitement, a soft warmth spreading in his chest.
"Of course, after you." He said holding the blanket back so you could enter. You quickly scrambled inside and gasped again as you entered. He had laid out blankets and pillows in the fort, making a perfectly cozy little nest. He had even gone so far as to move the TV inside the fort so you could watch it as you rested inside.
You looked at him excitedly as he climbed in behind you and he smiled at you.
"Do you like it? I just felt like I could use a break from all the seriousness for a bit."
"I love it!" You snuggled into a pile of pillows and marveled at the green glowing patterns that swirled around the walls. Kakyoin remained at the entrance looking a bit uncertain. You cocked your head at him in confusion and patted the spot next to you. "Come on! What? Are you scared I have cooties?" You giggled.
He chuckled quietly before taking the spot next to you, remaining a respectful distance away from you. Being this close to you had his heart pounding and he looked at the TV, pointedly avoiding looking at you. You pouted a bit before snuggling yourself against him and pulling a blanket over the two of you. His breath caught in his throat, and he swallowed thickly, trying his best to ignore the anxiety of having you so close to him creeping down his spine.
You hummed contentedly before nuzzling into his neck and murmuring something about being cozy. He reminded himself that you were just drunk. You probably weren't really fully aware of what you were doing. There was no way you would really want to snuggle up with him like this.
You whined and looked up at him and he was snapped out of his thoughts. You tugged on his arm gently, indicating that you wanted him to put it around you. He blinked at you in surprise, before obliging. You squeaked in happiness before wrapping your arm around his torso and laying your head on his chest. He was almost positive you would be able to hear his heart racing, but you were too focused on the TV to be paying attention to that.
"Hey, aren't these supposed to be color TVs?" You said pointing at the TV with a frown.
"Huh?" He was startled out of his thoughts by your question. He glanced at the TV before responding, "Oh, the movie is just some old black and white one."
"Oh." You said plainly. The two of you laid there for a few moments before you started giggling.
"What?" He asked, looking down at you quizzically.
"I dunno!" You said looking up at him with a sweet smile. "You're really cute, you know that?" You said giggling again. He blinked in surprise, his mouth dropping open slightly.
"I-I'm what?" He asked, not really believing he heard you right the first time.
"Cute!" You exclaimed. "You're really cute! You built this cute little blanket fort, and you're being all sweet and cuddly. It's cute!"
He can feel heat rushing to his cheeks and his heart once again starts racing.
"Y-you don't mean that. You're just drunk…" he says, his voice laced with sadness. You frown at him.
"Yes I do! I always think you're cute, with your little hair noodle." You giggle, playfully swatting at said hair noodle.
"H-hair noodle?" He says with a gulp. He wants to believe you. He wants to believe you more than he's ever wanted to believe anything, but how can he? You've barely given him any attention most of the journey, what's different now?
"Yeah! Your little bang thing. I like it."
He opens his mouth to respond but you interrupt him, rolling onto your stomach and placing your head in your hands and looking up at him. "And your eyes are so pretty. I've never seen anyone with purple eyes. They're so cool, they're like little amethysts." You gaze into his eyes adoringly and God he feels like he's going to combust with the amount of heat rushing to his face.
"Do you really mean that?" He asks softly, scared of you telling him that you didn't mean it. That this was all some elaborate prank.
"Of course I mean it! I woulda told you before but I was too nervous…" you say, rolling back onto your back and fiddling with your nails. "It's ok if you don't feel the same, though." You add, avoiding eye contact.
He sits up and leans forward, his mind racing much too fast for him to formulate a reply.
You sit up too, placing a hand gently on his back. He looks back at you, a soft but unreadable look on his face. You fear that you've made him uncomfortable and you open your mouth to apologize, but are cut off as his hand gently caresses your cheek. You pause and look at him. His eyes meet yours and your eyes drop to his lips. You lean toward him slightly, and suddenly his lips are on yours.
You are too shocked to properly kiss him back for a moment, and he starts to pull back, fearing that he misread you. You whine and tug on his shirt pulling his lips back onto yours and kissing him desperately. You thread your fingers into his hair and he gasps. You take the opportunity to slide your tongue into his mouth and you can feel him shiver. You tug gently on his hair and he groans, pulling you onto his lap so you're straddling him. He wraps his arms around you tightly and kisses you with a passion you didn't know he had.
He eventually pulls back and you rest your foreheads together.
"I love you." He whispers, his voice husky.
You press your lips to his again, biting gently on his lower lip. A shaky gasp escapes him and you pull back slightly.
"I love you too." You whisper softly against his lips.
Kakyoin pulls you down so the two of you are laying side by side again, nestled comfortably in the pile of pillows and blankets. He places a soft kiss to your temple, wrapping his arms around you. You snuggle into his chest, wrapping an arm around him and leaning up to place another soft kiss to his lips. You smile softly at each other before settling into each other’s embrace and watching the movie, though neither of you are really paying much attention to it. You’re both far too giddy from finally admitting your feelings to be able to focus on anything else.
You eventually fall asleep in his embrace, gently snoring. He chuckles quietly and smoothes your hair back from your face. You make a small content noise in your sleep and snuggle closer to him. He watches your sleeping form, his amethyst eyes filled with nothing but admiration and his heart swelling with affection.
“I love you so much…” He whispers quietly, placing a soft kiss to your forehead and laying his head on top of yours, dozing off with a small smile on his lips.
