He scoffs, stuffing his phone in his pocket and walking over to you, akin to a predator slowly slinking after its prey. Thumb pressing against your chin, the rest of his long fingers curl under it, lifting your head. His free hand remains stuffed in his pocket, eyes focused on yours. “Then don’t complain,” he murmurs, thick voice even lower, smile almost goading, “when I fucking break you later.” With a playful pat against your cheek, he lets go, brushing past you with a swish of his coat. “Let’s go. Target’s over here.”
In a daze, you stumble after him, clutching your shirt just a little bit tighter. Maybe you were in over your head.
