Work Text:

Saigiku did not in fact like the rain. Well, he did to an extent. But he did not like thunderstorms. The thunder was always too loud and the lighting hurt his eyes, even if he kept them closed. And at some point, even the constant tap-tap of the rain against everything became too much. He shook his head, hiding under a blanket and trying to drown out the sound with any thought that would distract him enough.

The door opened with a click and Saigiku breathed out. “Took you long enough,” he said, bringing the blanket closer as the sky rumbled again. Steps neared him before the blanket was pulled back.

“Sorry,” Tecchou whispered, pressing a kiss to Saigiku’s temple. “What do you want to do?”

“Go get changed and then continue reading the book,” Saigiku whispered, reaching up and gently cupping Tecchou’s cheek. He smiled faintly, trailing his fingers to Tecchou’s lips. He sighed out as Tecchou kissed his fingers then his knuckles and stepped back. Saigiku focused his hearing on Tecchou as he walked to their room to get changed and then grab the book from the bedside table.

Saigiku shifted, giving Tecchou enough space to sit beside him. He snuggled close to Tecchou once the seat dipped, resting his head on Tecchou’s chest. “The storm still has a while,” he whispered, nuzzling against his chest as Tecchou placed an arm around him and propped up the book.

“I’ll read for as long as you want,” Tecchou said, holding him just a bit closer as he started reading. Saigiku sighed softly, listen to Tecchou’s heart, the faint rasp in his voice, and how he changed pitch for different characters. He shifted slightly, finally feeling himself stay grounded even when the thunder rumbled and the lightning struck.

He tilted his head up, pressing a soft kiss to Tecchou’s jaw and smiling against his skin when Tecchou paused in reading. He let out a soft laugh when Tecchou tilted his head to kiss him, slow and gentle. Saigiku slowly broke the kiss, giving Tecchou another peck before he rested his forehead against Tecchou’s. He hummed softly, noses brushing together and feeling the other’s breath against their lips.

Saigiku slowly traced along Tecchou’s cheek, tucking a few strands behind Tecchou’s ear and keeping his touch there. Tecchou cupped his hand, pressing a kiss to Saigiku’s wrist, letting it linger before moving his hand.

Saigiku smiled as Tecchou kissed the pads of his fingers before kissing the silver band around his ring finger. He laughed softly, kissing Tecchou again, feeling his smile and laugh against his lips. “Husband,” Saigiku whispered.

“Your husband.”

And as the rain fell, they held each other close, book forgotten as they whispered “I love you”s and stole kisses. The rumble of the thunder no longer an obnoxious sound that caused Saigiku to shake and grip tighter to center himself.
