Chapter Text
“Hey,” Kaminari whispered, sliding into the empty lunch bench in front of the other blonde, who shot him a disappointed look.
The lunchroom was bustling with people, various tables filled with laughing students Kaminari could have sat with, but no, that electric idiot decided to choose the one person who was always alone at his table, Bakugou. The explosive blonde looked at the shorter boy across him, watching Kaminari rip open a packet of soy sauce, pouring it over his rice.
“Really?” Bakugou asked, Kaminari glancing up at him.
“What? It—it’s good!” he countered.
“Why the fuck are you bothering me?” Bakugou cut off, rubbing a hand at his temple, his brows furrowed in annoyance.
“Wow, now I can’t even sit with you?” Kaminar gasped. “See, I thought that I would be able to sit with you after not being able to, all day,” he said, stabbing his chopsticks into the rice, watching the neat pile collapse onto itself, the yellow-blonde stirring it around sporadically.
“You’re gonna fuckin’ ruin it,” Bakugou muttered.
“It’s rice, I can’t ruin it,” Kaminari countered.
The pair fell into silence, surrounded by nothing but the loud, overlapping chatter of the students around them, and the noisy clatter of Kaminari’s chopsticks on his plate. This had actually been a usual for them for some time, now, Kaminari’s random showings, their silent chatter, their grazing looks--and it was all for a reason. Sure, a reason they hadn’t told anyone yet, maybe because it was too soon, or they were too scared, but for whatever reason, they had kept it to themselves for the time being. Kaminari often glanced at the blonde across him, taking in the explosion of albino hair, framing across his fiery, sapphire eyes, long, blonde lashes streaking shadows across his irises like a beautiful cage of some sorts. It made Kaminari smile dumbly, a piece of rice stuck to his chin, that no one but Bakugou seemed to notice. Bakugou stared at that piece of rice, even as Kaminari shoveled more into his mouth, his brows furrowed in mock disgust. Really? Him?
Kaminari was stupid to say the least, but only stupid in a practical sense. He wasn’t that dumb, he just managed to make the wrong choices constantly, and Bakugou couldn’t figure out if he just liked getting hurt, or he really couldn’t figure out why some of the crap he tried didn’t actually work. Even if he was a huge dumbass, Bakugou still managed to end up like this, constantly accompanied by Kaminari, his bright, sunny eyes, rivaling that of an early sunset on a desert of sunflowers, distant stars sparkling in the distant outreaches. It was like staring at a real, moving sunset--or it would be, if Kaminari didn’t move around so much. He was always shifting, side to side, his bright, frizzy hair moving with him, brushing across his chin, and barely grazing his shoulders. How could an idiot like that look so good?
“Hey, hey, hey,” Kaminari spoke up, leaning against the table, waving a singular chopstick in Bakugou’s direction.
“What.”
“So?”
“Excuse me?”
“When do you wanna, y’know?” Kaminari asked, cocking his head to the side.
Bakugou paused for a moment, his typically annoyed look replaced by that of quiet shock, melting slowly into annoyed embarrassment. It was a quick change, but of course, noticed. “Never.”
“Come on, dude!” Kaminari groaned, tossing his chopstick in the air, watching it do two flips, and come back down, catching it securely. “We can’t keep it a secret forever,” he offered.
“Yeah, I’m pretty fucking sure we can,” Bakugou scoffed.
Kaminari smiled, moving slightly in his seat, Bakugou’s personal space ruptured by the nudge of Kaminari’s foot against his leg.
“You’re gonna mess up my damn pants, you fuckin—”
“Stop! I can’t hold your hand, so this is the next best thing!”
“What, holding my feet?” Bakugou snapped, Kaminari stifling a laugh.
“Maybe!” he smiled, but he still didn’t stop, kicking his foot against Bakugou’s, following him even as he moved his legs away, shooting the electric blonde a scowl.
“Fuck off!”
Kaminari only laughed, their game of ‘foot holding’ seeming to continue until Bakugou swiftly kicked Kaminari in the shin, the blonde shooting his leg up, slamming into the underside of the table.
“Ooo-ow!” Kaminari groaned, sinking to the side, lying down against the table.
“You fucking dumbass,” Bakugou scoffed, covering his mouth to quiet down his rude laughter, watching Kaminari beat a fist against the table in pain.
“You’re such a huge pee-pee,” Kaminari complained, closing his eyes, an obvious pout on his face. His hair fell across his cheek with the way he rested his head against the table, falling gently over one of his eyes, tickling the tip of his nose, blonde strands grazing across his lips. He was such an idiot, but damn, was he beautiful, and it was something Bakugou couldn’t help but agree with every time the thought popped to his head.
“Hey, dunce,” Bakugou spoke up, his voice deep, but laced with sweetness, a tone he only used with Kaminari.
“Haaaah?” Kaminari drug on, opening his eyes, only one of those sunset-beauty eyes visible to Bakugou.
“We can tell them.”
“What?” Kaminari gasped, sitting up a bit too fast, his eyes fluttering. “Head rou--rush,” he corrected.
“The fuck were you gonna say?”
“Doesn’t matter. We can?”
“Sometime. Just… not now,” Bakugou shrugged, ignoring the glowing smile that grew on Kaminari’s face.
“Seriously!?” Kaminari asked, nearly crawling over the table to lean closer.
“Fuck off! Stop crawling your ass over here like you’re a damn bug or something!” Bakugou groaned, rolling his eyes, his hands smoking with warning, but that didn’t phase him.
“Seriously! Dude, answer me, answer me!”
“What, you think I’m gonna say shit I don’t mean!” the albino blonde snapped back, Kaminari only leaning himself even closer, Bakugou watching the boy practically plank over the table just to get their faces close.
“What,” Bakugou whispered.
“I love you,” Kaminari whispered back, his voice gentle, quite, laced with a giggle, and overall ethereal, the sweet words sending a roll of euphoria through Bakugou;s body, his face warming a slow red, like it fuckin’ belonged there.
“Fuck off,” Bakugou groaned, lowering his head to avoid the look from Kaminari’s eyes.
“Come on, dude,” Kaminari laughed, leaning on his elbows to lower himself to Bakugou’s sight, trying to take another peek at his face. “What, I can’t even look at my bo--”
“Shut the fuck up!” Bakugou hissed, slapping a hand over Kaminari’s mouth.
“I th’ght w’h w’h, t’hln m’hm,” Kaminari said behind his hand, Bakugou glaring at the idiot.
“You’re fucking annoying,” Bakugou snapped, letting Kminari lift a hand to push Bakugou’s away.
“We’re not telling people anymore?” Kaminari asked.
“We are, just not like how you’re trying to.”
“Okay, then, how?” Kaminari sighed.
“How should I fuckin’ know? It was your damn idea to bring up telling anyone in the first place!”
“Yeahhh, cuz I want people to know what a snatch I got,” Kaminari drawled.
“Shut the fuck up, you living moron,” Bakugou scoffed.
“So? What’s the plan. We just hold hands and kiss till people get a clue?”
“Fuck no.”
“Say it outright…?”
“Fuck off.”
“Make out in the hallway?”
“Shut the hell up.”
Kaminari smiled. “Well, whatever you want man, I’ll go along with it. The things I do for you, huh?” he chuckled.
“Fuck off. How did I end up with you?” Bakugou grumbled.
“Dunno!” Kaminari smiled. “But I’m glad you did.”
“Shut the hell up,” Bakugou sighed, and for what he couldn’t do now, he would make up for later, promising himself he would kiss the hell out of this idiot once school ended.
It was fine for them, anyways, since of course, they were boyfriends.
Not that they’d tell anyone, though.
