Summary:

DISCLAIMER: The writing prompt is not by me. I have put the name of the original writing prompt writer after it, but I have elected to use the same title as the writing prompt.
The story is mine, the writing prompt is not. Thank you.

Writing Prompt:
‘The ship had no name.
The crew did not speak.
If you saw it on the water,
It’s already too late.
Write this story. “Pirate in the storm” -By Peter Lee’

Summary:
The ship went down.
Now Izuku and his other crewmates are held as prisoners on the ghost pirate ship known as “The Silent”.
And there’s a particular pirate who won’t leave Izuku locked in his cabin-cell alone.
Infact, Izuku finds it quite annoying how this soft spoken capture of his keeps coming back..
But,
He’s not mean, so, that has to count for something.
Doesn’t it?

(If anyone comes up with a better summary, please let me know!)

Notes:

Another writing prompt story! Yay! I won't make this one very long because they are supposed to be short stories, but I hope you enjoy anyways!

Chapter 1: Part I

Chapter Text

Izuku should have known she’d be right. His mother- a kind hearted woman, talented witch, and their town’s fortune teller- warned him. Izuku knew she’d always be right.

So why, why did he still take the job to join the crew as they prepared to set sail; when his smart, always worried mother told him the ship was destined to be raided and lost to the sea.

He knew she was right.

And now he's gone and made her believe he’s dead. but--Isn’t he….?

Everyone’s heard stories about the ghost ship known as “The Silent”. The crew were said to be made up of sad souls who were killed at sea. The ship itself was given its name for the extremely stereotypical ghost-like behavior:

It glided through any waters and any waves, yet made no sound as it moved, nor when the waved would slap at its sides.

The outline of the ship was best seen in fog early in the morning, or late at night; when it attacked and took other ships’ crew as prisoners. Though it’s said that the crew on The Silent, never spoke either.

~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>

“I’m tellin’ ya! No ship haz e’ver escape’t The Silent. The demon ship’s fazt and th’e crew ar’ ded. N’ones e’ver comes bac’k; n’ if the’y do, the’y ain’t livin’ to tell what the’y saw.”

“Makes you wonder where the stories come from then.” Replied Izuku with a small, shit eating grin

The older man only stared at him, clutching his beer and wobbling slightly forwards on his stool.

He leaned forward quite unbalanced and pointed a lopsided finger in Izuku’s face.

“Ye’re young, Rat. Know ye’r place. Befor’e somune very on’kind teachess it to ya.” Spat the old man

“I’d like to think you’d show your server a little more respect.” Came a very sober, very graceful voice

A middle aged man stepped out from the cellar's door and came to stand beside Izuku, placing a gently callused hand on the boy’s shoulder.

The man was well groomed with a small black stubble that matched his long black hair, which was tied in a tight braid. His dark clothes weren’t anything rich or expensive, but he carried and presented as someone who was clearly respected. He had a small scar under his right eye, and his shining black eyes were cast down at the drunken man on the other side of the bar counter. His features showed rationality and stone cold annoyance.

“I’d also like to think you’d show my nephew a little more respect as well.” He said calmly

The man stared up at him.

“And ho’ do ye’ thin’k ye’ ar’..?” Spat the man

“The owner.” Replied the man harshly, “You’ve had enough, now. I’m in no mood to clean up any drunken messes right now; so get out.”

The older man grumbled, and stumbled off his stool; another young man with purple hair helped him to the door and out of the bar, before shutting the door with a tired sigh.

“--Was waiting for him to leave.” The boy grumbled, making Izuku giggle a little

Izuku turned and smiled up at the black haired man.

“Thanks, Uncle--ow!”

The man smacked Izuku over the head.

“Just because they piss you off doesn’t mean you should aggravate rude, drunken customers, with smartass remarks and snide smirks. Don’t think I’ve forgotten about the last three times I’ve had to kick an entire party’s worth of people out of the bar because someone’s pulled out over the counter and tried to knock you around a little.” Said the man in an annoyed tone

The purple haired boy snorted and leaned against the wall, crossing his arms.

Izuku hung his head.

“Right. Sorry.” He said

His uncle ruffled his hair.

“You’re a good kid, Izuku. And you’re a wonderful nephew; but you’re a pain in the ass, and my sister will have my head if I send you home with any more broken bones.” He replied

Izuku smiled. Imagining his mother beating her younger brother over the head with one of her thicker scrolls, because he let Izuku ‘get out of hand’. Again.

Izuku Midoriya was a seventeen year old boy with a mess of fluffy green curls for hair, and two emerald eyes that constantly held stars. He wasn’t very tall for his age, but he wouldn’t say he’s short either. His uncle, Shota Aizawa, ran the best bar in their small seaside town, and  employed both Izuku and Izuku’s eldest cousin, Hitoshi Aizawa.

Hitoshi had purple hair, and violet eyes that seemed to glow and darken at the same time by his dark eye bags. He had the same dry humor as Shota, and he wasn’t any less sarcastic. Though as seventeen year olds, Hitoshi and Izuku were much more reckless than the adults in their lives.

“Hitoshi, will you clean up the counter; I have to have a word with Izuku.” Said Shota

His son nodded, and Shota led Izuku out the back entrance near the docking port.

“You’re seventeen now Izuku, and your mother and I have been talking.” Started Shota

‘Oh shit.’ Thought Izuku, his heart dropping into his stomach

“M-mom didn’t start asking you a-about a-a marriage arrangement. Did she? Because if she did I already told her that I’m too young,--”

“Izuku.”

“--And I don’t have anyone in mind, and I’d prefer to find love under my own circumstances.”

“Izuku.”

“And really no one’s caught my attention yet! I think I’d be better off living my life and seeing what happens, an--”

“Gods be damned boy will you shut your brain off for five minutes and listen to what I have to say!” Barked Shota

Izuku shut his mouth with an audible ‘click’ .

His uncle sighed.

“Thank you.”

Izuku simply stayed quiet.

He knew he rambled; and muttered, and stuttered, and talked way too quickly for anyone to keep up. But who could blame him?

Even in school the teachers would harp on him about keeping his lips tight and his thoughts in his head unless they mattered.

But that’s just how he was. He learnt fast, and thought faster. That wasn’t his fault.

“Listen. I’ve got a friend who’s ship is dew to set sail in a few days. It’ll be at sea for about a month or two to do some trading, and your mother and I think it’s a good idea if you went. Just as a deckhand, but it would get you out of this damn town for a while.” He said

Izuku’s eyes widened.

He loved sailing. He loved the water, and the idea of pirates and thieves and other such things.

“Really? You mean it, Uncle?!” He asked, starting to shift from foot to foot

Shota nodded.

Izuku cheered.

“Of course I’ll do it! I love to!” He answered

His uncle smiled and ruffled his nephew’s green hair.

“I knew you’d take it.”

Izuku smiled up at him.

“You’re a smart kid, Izuku. And a kind one too. Don’t let anyone tell you any different; you got me.?” Shota told him

Izuku smiled wider.

It meant everything to him to make his family proud.

“Yes sir. Thank you.” He replied

“Alright. You’ve done enough slacking, get in there and I’ll set you free when I see fit later today.”

Shota pushed the teen back towards the door of the bar with an amused expression.

Izuku laughed and nodded.

“Yes sir!” He said, and walked back through the door, closing it behind him

Shota stood there for a moment more; staring at the door his nephew had disappeared behind.

HIs smile faded ever so slightly, because he knew. He knew that once that boy got a taste of living out on his own, he’d pack his things the first chance he got, and probably never look back.

The older man shook his head, trying not to think of that future just yet; and went off to find the captain of the ship Izuku would be on.

~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>

The boat rocked and swayed and tried it’s best to lull Izuku to sleep, but the green eyed boy continued to shift and struggle against the chains that bound his wrists and ankles. Refusing to shut his eyes until he knew he could sleep without fear.

The door of the cabin creaked open, and Izuku went dead still; turning his head and glaring at the taller man in the doorway.

Neither said anything, but eventually the man stepped inside the cabin and closed the door to the room. Enclosing the two in privacy.

~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>

“Mom!” He called out as he entered the house

“In the kitchen Izuku!” He heard his mother call faintly from that direction

He smiled as he headed towards her. He stepped into their kitchen, and sure enough, there she was.

Inko Midoriya was a short, rounder woman with soft features, and a kind voice that reflected her kind heart. Her green hair reached just to her waist, and it was always slightly pulled back from her face, which held a faded version of Izuku’s more noticeable freckles. She turned from her mixing bowl, her mossy green eyes shone up at Izuku, and a happy smile graced her lips.

“Welcome home sweetie.” She greeted, and dusted off her hands before hugging her son

Izuku smiled and hugged back.

“Hey Mom.” He said gently

“How was your day?” She asked turning back to her baking

Izuku shrugged as he washed his hands.

“It was alright.” He replied, “There were the usuals, some knew faces, and Uncle offered me a new job!” He smiled, getting the honey and milk from the fridge

Inko slowed for a moment, before clearing her throat softly.

“What kind of job?” She asked, as Izuku poured tea spoons of honey into the chocolate mix

“He’s got a friend who’s captain of a ship, that’s set to sail in a few days. He offered me a deckhand job. It’ll only be for a month or two, but then I’d be back! He said you two talked about it.” He smiled, starting to measure milk

Inko paused completely, she turned to her son, and Izuku noticed how she started wringing her hands together; she only did that when she was anxious or stressed.

“I remember talking to him about you getting another job.But nothing specific….What did you tell him?” She asked, brows knitting with concern

Izuku slowly put the milk down and leaned back on the counter.

“I... told him I’d do it…” He answered carefully

Inko’s face paled and Izuku jumped to catch her as she looked like she was about to faint. He guided her to the kitchen’s small table and sat her in one of the chairs.

“Mom what’s wrong?” He asked worriedly

“I-I-- During work. I saw something.” She replied

Inko was their town’s fortune teller, and a natural witch by blood. Part of her business was taking customers aside when they asked for their fortune. She enjoyed what she did, and the little shop she ran too. But there were days when Izuku would come home to find his mother devastated at what she’d seen for a small child, or unsuspecting young man in love.

It seemed today was no different.

“What happened?” Izuku asked

“A man came in today. He said he was looking for his fortune to be told. I did it gladly and  saw a ship setting sail in his future, so I asked if this was correct. He happily told me yes, and that he was quiet looking forward to the journey. He said he came to ask how it was going to go. I told him for the first while it was smooth sailing, waters were calm and skies were clear, the air was fresh and warm, and a good breeze would carry them for many days….But later- it was unclear when- a ship would appear in the fog. A crew like mice will attack the ship and take what they can. They’ll take hostages, and those who are the loudest; they kill. They’ll set fire to the ship  afterwards, and the crew that survive will be lost forever. Though it will be unclear who survived, and who died.” Inko’s hands shook as she finished, and Izuku could see why she was upset, but one thing wasn’t clear

“….Crew like mice?” He asked

She looked at him.

“They make no sound, and don’t speak when they attack. Come and go like they weren’t there.” She answered

Izuku thought for a moment.

“Sounds like The Silent.” He said

Inko let out a little sound of distress. She too, knew a lot about that ship. Many stories had been told throughout the town, and you’d have to be new to not know about the ghost ship.

Izuku felt himself start to worry, but he shook his head and smiled.

“But Mom, how do you know it’ll be the ship I’m on? There are many ships set to sail in a few days, some even at the same time! It’s highly unlikely that it’ll be my ship that goes down.” He smiled wobbly

Inko looked at him and tried to smile back, but it looked more like a grimace.

The two Midoriya’s sat there for a while in silence, until Izuku shook his head again and stood up.

“Let’s finish the cake. We don't want anything to set or we’ll have to start all over.” He said, offering his mother his hand

She nodded and took it, standing and moving back to the mixing bowl with Izuku.

~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>

Izuku stared up at him; unmoving.

The other man bent down to his eye level, and Izuku could clearly see the mismatched eyes. A steel grey for the right and an illuminating turquoise for the left.

“Heterochromia. Very rare. Not many are born with it, and very few have it as pronounced as this. They’re beautiful.” Thought Izuku, remembering what he read about the rare eye colouration when he picked out a spell for colour changing in his mom’s library.

“I’ve yet to hear the word ‘beautiful’ directed towards me. You’re the first to regard my eyes as such.”

Izuku jumped, and gasped.

The man had spoken in nothing but a whisper, but it was the first voice Izuku had heard in a long while.

Izuku didn’t trust him though. So he wasn’t about to let some deep voiced and pretty eyed pirate- who was holding his captive- sway him into thinking he was safe.

So Izuku tried to press himself into the wall further, and continued to glare at the hetero eyes.

“I won’t hurt you.” The pirate murmured

Izuku scoffed and rolled his eyes. The other male leaned forward, closer to Izuku, and Izuku felt his breath against his skin.

It was warm and gentle. Izuku stared at him in confusion.

“I thought they were all ghosts. Dead people.” He thought

“I don’t think I’m dead.” The other responded

Izuku had been muttering again. Just like before, he gasped. The pirate's hand came up and his fingertips grazed down the column of Izuku’s neck. A feather light touch that if you weren’t paying attention, you wouldn’t have felt. But Izuku was hyper aware of his surroundings, and he felt it.

“Get off me.” He snapped at the pirate

He didn’t move.

“I’m not on you. I’m just  leaning in close. There’s a difference you know.” He replied blankly

Izuku tried to shove him with his body, but with his limbs bound he only fell into the pirate, causing them both to stumble backwards.

The pirate landed on his butt, with Izuku pressed firmly against his body. Both let out huffs as they impacted.

They sat there for a second, before Izuku struggled against him, to push himself off, and back against the wall.

Though the pirate wasn’t much of a help.

He just sat there as Izuku struggled against his chest, but eventually he moved and placed Izuku back up right.

“.....Thanks.” Izuku said after a while

The pirate hummed and nodded. He sat back and he and Izuku  just stared at each other again.

“What was your goal in doing that?” Asked the pirate after more silence

He spoke so softly, that if they’d met in a market square, Izuku might have asked him to repeat himself.

But they weren’t in a market square.

They were on a ship. A ghost ship, and Izuku was a prisoner. And one of his captures sat in front of him.

The silence was everywhere and it was so overwhelming that when he spoke, Izuku was tempted to ask him to whisper even more.

“You were too close. And I don’t know about you, but I’m not in the mood to be close to someone who has me chained to their wall, and isolated.” Spat Izuku

“You don’t sound pleased with my presence.” The pirate simply said

Izuku rolled his eyes.

“I wouldn’t exactly choose to be in close proximity with my capture; No! I’d much rather be on my ship that you shits sank. Or I’d much rather be home with my family, but that’ll never happen again, because you fuckers attacked the ship I was on. So please forgive my saour attitude towards someone that has just robbed me of my entire life.” Izuku said harshly

The pirate just sat there with a blank look on his face. He blinked a few times at Izuku but said nothing.

“Do you want me to talk slower for you? Or are you just so used to having men cry and beg for their lives. Well I’m sorry, but that’s not going to happen.” He continued, though it was a half lie

Izuku had been crying and his heart was currently pounding in his chest.

He was making the stupid mistake of talking back to this man.

He could get killed because of it.

He was starting to breath heavily, but he trained his eyes to one thing, and took in the sight of the man before him.

He sat casually, but Izuku could tell he was tall. He figured the pirate carried himself like a nobleman or a soldier.

His hair was split evenly between fire red hair on his left, and snow white hair on his right. He was clean shaven and there was what looked to be a scar over his left eye.

Izuku found it odd how he couldn’t find it in him to be disgusted with how the pirate looked. He felt quite the opposite actually.

The pirate looked like he belonged in a rich home with a nice wife and a few kids, rather than on a ghost ship that was doomed to sail forever.

He was extremely handsome, and Izuku wouldn’t deny that. As much as he wanted to.

“You’re scared.” He said

Izuku jumped again and his eyes hardened.

“And what makes you think that?” He questioned with a sneer

The pirate leaned in close to Izuku again.

“You’ve got dried tear tracks running down your cheeks, your breathing is labored, your green eyes are wide, and your heart is pounding in your chest.” He answered simply

Izuku’s mouth felt dry.

“Y-you can hear my heart?” He asked softly

The pirate blinked again.

“No, but you just confirmed that my theory was correct.” He answered

The teen felt speechless.

‘How….?”

His thoughts trailed off as the pirate brought the pad of his thumb up against Izuku’s cheek and swiped away the dried tears.

“You don’t have to be scared. I won’t hurt you.” He whispered

Izuku forgot how to breathe, but that didn’t stop him.

He started to wiggle again, and moved his face away from the other male.

“Don’t touch me. You have no right to, and I don’t want you anywhere near me.” He spoke

The pirate hummed.

“Shame. Because if I‘m not near you: the capitan will deem you useless and kill you.” He said bluntly

Izuku stilled.

“Wh-What?” He asked

“I know you’re not deaf.” Replied the pirate, “But I’ll repeat myself if you’d like. If I’m not around you, or routinely tell the captain that you and I are getting along, and that  you’re good. Then he’ll toss you overboard for the sharks.”

“Well that’s not exactly a repeat, but ok.” Mumbled Izuku

“So what are you gonna do with me then, hm? What does ‘Getting along’ entail?” He asked suspiciously and narrowed his eyes

The pirate shrugged.

“I haven’t decided yet.” He replied

Izuku huffed and stared the other in the eye.

“So I’m at your mercy.

Fantastic.” He deadpanned

The pirate nodded.

“It is.” He replied and got up, “I’ll be back with food. Sit tight for me.” He said and left

“Oh where am I gonna go?! Huh? The desert?!” Izuku called out with frustration

The door opened again and the duel haired pirate looked back in.

“I wouldn’t make too much noise either. The capitan doesn’t like loud noises. That could also get you killed.” He said, then left again

Izuku glared at the door before grumbling in frustration.

==========================================================

Izuku glared at the plate.

“I don’t want it.” He said stubbornly

The pirate hung his head, and sighed with annoyance. Izuku felt a little proud of the way he was behaving. Giving his capture the frustration he deserved.

This was the third time Izuku had denied the food the pirate had pushed his way.

But the only flaw in this plan was that he was starving.

“Do you think this childish behavior is funny?” Snapped the pirate

Izuku glared at him, his lips pressed in a tight line.

“Fine! You don’t want it, I’ll eat it.” He huffed

Izuku watched him pick up the plate and fork and push the food around, but he paused and looked at Izuku.

“If you’re hungry. Why won’t you eat.?” He asked

“Because I don’t like you, and I don’t want your food. I’ll eat when I want to.” Izuku answered, sticking his tongue out at the other male

The pirate sighed again and put down the plate.

“This is stupid. Do you think it’s fun to behave like a child?” He snapped

“I am a child.” Izuku shot back

The pirate moved and grabbed Izuku’s face with his one hand. Squishing his cheeks.

“No you’re not.” He spat

Izuku struggled against him.

“Yes I am, I’m younger than you are, you pompous ass. Now let go!” She struggled

“You’re not a child. Stop acting like one.” the pirate retorted

“I am a child! I’m seventeen now let go, asshole!” Izuku bit back

The pirate stiffened, and let go.

Izuku moved his jaw around.

“Ow.” He whispered, he hadn’t realized he was being held that hard

It would definitely leave bruises. Izuku glanced up at the pirate, and they stared at each other.

His capture looked shocked.

“What was a seventeen year old doing on a war ship.?” He breathed

Izuku foze.

“A What? That wasn’t a war ship. That was a trading ship. I was just a deckhand. The ship was going to be out at sea for one-to-two months then dock back at my town and I’d be home. But that’s not going to happen now, no thanks to your crew.” Explained Izuku

The pirate stared at him.

“I’ve been here for a long time, and even before, I was a sailor. I know a war ship when I see one.” The pirate told him

Izuku looked at him wide-eyed.

“Is that why you attacked it..? To keep it from doing anything…?” Izuku asked quietly

“Yes.” He answered, “You mean to tell me, you really  didn’t know what kind of ship you were on?” He asked

Izuku shook his head.

The pirate got closer to Izuku again, but this time, Izuku didn’t fight when he felt the other’s hand on his cheek.

“How’d you get on there?” He asked gently

Izuku stared up at him.

“Well…”

~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>

The ship was set to depart early after lunch, and Izuku had the things he needed already packed away and ready to go.

“--And you’ll do as your capitan says.?” Said Inko, holding her son by his face

“Yes Mom. of course.” He answered

“And you won’t get into any fights.?” She continued

Izuku chuckled.

“Inko. He’s going to be fine. Izuku won’t be gone for very long, and he’ll be back before you know it, with a whole mouthful of stories coming out at a million miles an hour.” Smiled Shota

Inko hit her brother on the arm and smiled.

Izuku felt small arms wrap around his waist, and he looked down.

“Be careful. I’ll miss you, Izuku.” Said a small girl

The green haired teen smiled and hugged his youngest cousin back.

“Don’t worry, Eri. I’ll be home soon enough.” He answered her

The little girl with long white hair nodded. Eri was Izuku’s youngest cousin at nine years old, and she was Hitoshi’s half sister.

Her round red eyes looked up at Izuku with tears.

“Shh, don’t cry. It’ll be ok.” Said her brother

She looked up at him and nodded, before going over to their father; lettingHitoshi say his goodbyes.

“Good luck out  there.” He said, and Izuku pulled him into a hug

“I will. Don’t forget to fill my spot of smartass remarks at the bar!” He smiled

Hitoshi chuckled.

“Are you kidding? I’ve been waiting for you to leave so I could have that spotlight.” He joked

They both laughed.

“No but seriously, Izuku. I’ll miss you. It won’t be the same until you come back.” Said his cousin

Izuku nodded, and smiled.

He had a few words and a hug with Shota, and Inko and Eri were practically begging for Izuku not to go.

But sadly, he had to.

So he hugged his family one last time, before stepping onto the ship and waving them goodbye.

“IZUKU SWEETHEART DON’T FORGET I LOVE YOU!!” He heard his mother’s voice yell from the dock

“I LOVE YOU TOO MOM!!” He shouted back, before turning and being set to work

Little did he know that was the last he’d see of the four of them.

~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>

Izuku sniffled, as he tried not to cry.

“I would have hugged them longer if I--If I only knew.” He burst into tears at this point

The pirate got closer and pulled Izuku into a hug.

“No,no!” Izuku still struggled against him, “I don’t want your pity! I don’t want your fake! Get off me!” He said through tears

“But you want comfort.” Whispered the other male

“I don’t want to hurt you. I promise; it’s not fake.”

“Lies! Get off, get off! I don’t want you, I don’t want you!” Izuku whaled

“...Ok, I understand. But please, just don’t raise your voice. Please--it’s ok.” He said softly as he let Izuku go

Izuku fell back against the hard wall, and suddenly felt colder. He sat there and stared at the man across from him through half-lidded eyes; fat tears rolling down his freckled cheeks. They sat in silence with Izuku’s sniffles and hiccups being the only noise.

Eventually Izuku calmed down and stopped crying, and the pirate didn’t move from his spot across from Izuku.

“What’s your name..?” Izuku said in a soft, hoarse voice

The pirate jumped slightly and yawned.

‘Had he--had he fallen asleep?’ Wondered Izuku

The other man cleared his throat.

“My name is Shoto Todoroki..” He answered softly
“Am I allowed to know your name, or will you bite my head off.” He smirked

Izuku swallowed, but rolled his eyes with a scoff.

He knew that name somewhere.

“Izuku Midoriya.” He replied softly

Shoto smiled and stuck out a hand.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Izuku.” He said

The teen hesitated for a moment, before taking Shoto’s hand. But instead of shaking it, Shoto lifted his hand and kissed it lightly.

Shocked, Izuku snapped his hand back quickly.

“wait...Todoroki……. Todoroki…...Todoroki! I know you! You’re in one of my history books. I’ve read all about you! The Todoroki’s were an elite family of nobles with Three sons and a daughter. It later came to light that Enji was an abusive parent and husband, so  with those allegations, a lawsuit was set up against him after his…...youngest…..went…...missing……..” Izuku trailed off as he stared at Shoto

“And what does the book say about after I went missing.?” Asked Shoto his voice holding something firm in it

“......Enji was tried and found guilty…..So he was sentenced to imprisonment for ten years before they executed him.” The boy answered

A small smirk formed on Shoto’s face.

“So the bastard got what he deserved….Good.” He said darkly

Izuku shivered at that, before something else came to mind and he paled. He staggered backwards farther against the wall in horror.

“That was hundred-seventy-five years ago….You disappeared at twenty-five--that makes you--” He paled further, “Shoto that makes you just over two-hundred years old.”

The pirate blinked at him.

“That long ago, huh? Well shit, I still feel like I got here last month.” He answered

Izuku felt his heart beat louder in his chest.

“How is this possible..?” He breathed, “I thought you said you were alive.”

“They took me prisoner. But I’m naturally quiet, so they took me on as a crew member… I don’t know who this ship works, or how the crew lives. But I don’t think we’re dead. I think time will wear our souls thin, but I don’t think we’ll ever physically age. Which is probably why I don’t look or feel older than twenty-five.” Shoto shrugged

“So…..I’ll never age.

Is what you’re saying…” Izuku questioned

Shoto nodded.

“If you’re telling me I’m two-hundred, then yes, you’ll never age.” He answered

Izuku looked down, as he silently thought.

He’d never age.

He’d never die.

Part of him smiled.

He’d never have to grow old and die!

But the other part was saddened.

He’d never really live again either.

Would he?

He wouldn’t work with his uncle, or bake with his mom, or laugh with his cousins, or fall in love, or have a family of his own.

Well-

There was another part that sighed with relief.

He didn’t think he’d ever want a wife, but he’d always dreamt of falling in love.

Izuku blushed.

He remembered reading fiction, and history books.

And he’d always wanted to be in the damsel’s shoes. With the handsome protagonist desiring nothing more than his goal, and Izuku.

To want to sweep him off his feet and kiss him passionately.

But his mother had told him that, while she didn’t care who he loved-

Others would.

And that there were laws in play that could have him killed.

So he never said anything about it again, and kept those dreams and fantasies to himself.

His stomach rumbled, and Izuku groaned; being painfully brought out of his thoughts by his need to eat.

“It’ll be cold: But do you want the food now?” Asked Shoto

Izuku looked up at him sheepishly, with sad eyes.

“Yes please.” He whispered

He watched Shoto give a tiny smile as he pushed the plate towards Izuku.

“There’s more where that came from too. I don’t want you starving yourself.” He said

Needless to say, Izuku wasn’t having the greatest time on the ship.

All the men were older than him, and weren’t the nicest to him either. But he’d made friends with a blond boy, a raven haired boy, and a brunette girl. They were all his age, and also worked in the kitchen and out on deck.

The blond boy was lively and quick with a joke or sassy come back. But he was friendly as all get out, and for some reason, really enjoyed it when one of the other teens asked to cuddle at night. He had introduced himself to Izuku as Denki Kaminari on the first night when they’d all sat around, up late with chores.

The only girl was short and bubbly, but feisty as all get out. She and Izuku spent a lot of time in the kitchen together as the older crew members thought it was back luck to have a female on board. That is, unless she was in the kitchen. So Izuku and the two other boys felt the need to help her below deck as much as they could; so she didn’t feel ostracized. Her name was Ochaco Uraraka, and she was easily Izuku’s best friend on the ship.

The raven haired boy was much different. He wasn’t lively or bubbly; but instead he was quiet and thoughtful. He looked mean and scary, but he was actually a very kind boy. Aways reading aloud to the other teenagers when asked because they thought he had the best voice; and constantly watching out for the other three. Stepping in to take their side if there was ever a problem.

His name was Fumikage Tokoyami.

They were amazing, and Izuku, who’d never really had friends growing up, felt right at ease with this little group of deckhands.

But then one night, the group was awoken by the shouting of the other crew members. Izuku and Ochaco bolted right up from their bed.

It wasn’t uncommon for Izuku and Ochaco to end up cuddling at night, but that would usually result in Denki wanting the warmth and affection of the cuddle too so he’d join, and Fumikage always took on this sense of needing to protect the other three in a ‘big brother’ role, so he had join too. They’d always look like a pile of sleeping bunnies by the morning.

But tonight the four were josled awake.

“What the--ah! Guys we should get up!” Said Denki, shaking his messy blond hair, and filling with energy immediately

Fumikage shifted and sat up too.

“Denki’s right. It sounds like something’s gone awry.”

Ochaco and Izuku shook their heads and got up with the other two. They took a second to wake up a little more before looking at each other and heading up in a group.

But when they got to the top, everything was chaos. But the shouts and cries of their own crew. Their attackers didn’t make a sound.

Izuku’s heart sped up.

Their ship had been boarded.

Why in gods name, did he not listen to his mother?!

They were boarded and being attacked by a pirate crew who said nothing.

“What the hell?! What are we supposed to do?!” Cried Denki

Izuku jumped and covered the blond’s mouth; remembering his mother’s words.

‘They’ll take hostages, and those who are the loudest; they kill.’

“No one say a word, and if you have to, keep it as quiet as you can. If you’re too loud they’ll kill you. Do you understand.?” Said Izuku in a low voice

His friends nodded.

“Good. The only problem is-- whoever they don’t kill, they’ll take hostage.” He continued

“Izuku...This sounds like…” Ochaco trailed off, growing pale

“Bro you can’t be serious.!” Whisper yelled Denki

Izuku nodded.

“We’ve been boarded by the crew of the ghost ship ‘The Silent’ then.” Confirmed Fumikage

Just then, Izuku felt a hand clamp down over his mouth and take his hands behind his back.

“Izuku-!” cried Ochaco but she cut herself off before she could get too loud

The green eyed teen struggled against whoever had him, but they were much stronger, and managed to catch his wrists in chains. He heard small yelps and gasps, and looked as he watched his friends become trapped and bound just like him.

‘No!’ He thought, but some part of him knew, it was better than watching them die

.

.

.

.

.

.

He just hoped he’d see them again.

See them again.

Izuku’s eyes filled with tears and he started to cry.

His family.

He’d never see them again.

He knew he’d never make it out alive if he tried to fight.

So he let his body fall limp as he was picked up and brought back to the other ship.

Watching as they set fire to his ship and the dead bodies that littered its deck.

Izuku should have known she’d be right. His mother-a kind hearted woman, talented witch, and town’s fortune teller-warned him.

Everyone had heard stories about the ghost ship known as “The Silent”.
