Work Text:
Izuku inches sideways, watching Kacchan as subtly as he can. The movie they're watching is droning in the background. The two of them have been dating for around two months now, and Kacchan had wanted to keep things private, just between the two of them. That of course was a perfectly fine suggestion, especially since Izuku knew how much privacy meant to the other.
However, as boyfriends...they weren't exactly low-key.
He wasn't sure how the majority of the class found out about them, but he couldn't miss the knowing looks and off-hand remarks they gave out. Kacchan, on the other hand, apparently was in some sort of denial, refusing to acknowledge any of it.
At this moment seems like the perfect time for just a little affection, just some...hand-holding or something! He hasn't actually paid the movie any attention this entire time, entirely focused on the possibility of getting close to his boyfriend. Izuku misses the closeness they share in private.
The lights were low, the movie a perfect distraction. Todoroki sat at the far end couch, head tipped back and borderline snoring while he slept. The only other two in the room, Uraraka and Ashido, were whispering back and forth on the floor in front of Izuku. The others that had been in the room had left, trickling out here and there to do other things.
He inches even further sideways, the movement catching Uraraka's attention and he freezes. She catches his eye and then winks, giving a small smirk before turning back to Ashido. Izuku relaxes, focusing again on Kacchan. The other is watching the movie, although he looks bored, not noticing the exchange between the two friends.
Izuku crosses that final gap, his pinkie brushing against the side of Kacchan's hand. He keeps his gaze forward, as if the movie had captured his attention. Kacchan's gaze bores into the side of his head, but he forces himself to ignore it and stay calm.
Kacchan eventually does the same. He turns back and ignores the hand pressed against his. Izuku relaxes even more, falling sideways just the slightest amount. His left side is pressed against the warm line of Kacchan's right.
"Deku," he hisses.
"What?" Izuku tries to shoot back innocently. It doesn't work, Kacchan's eyes narrow at Izuku before glancing around, noting the sleeping form of Todoroki and the two chatting girls. Izuku frowns at the response.
"Am I making you uncomfortable?" He says, as quiet as he can. He means the words honestly, just because Kacchan is open to putting the occasional hand on his back or shoulder out in public doesn't mean that he's okay with cuddling out in the open.
Not that Kacchan would ever actually call it cuddling...
But, of course, Kacchan takes his words ever so slightly the wrong way. Instead of the honest concern Izuku was trying to project, he takes them as a challenge. Izuku finds himself tugged halfway into the other's lap, Kacchan's arm slung around his neck, a heavy comforting presence. From this position, it's easy to tuck his head under Kacchan's chin.
"I'm not uncomfortable, idiot. I thought you would be."
Izuku turns, as much as he can, to look upwards, "Oh Kacchan that's-"
"Plus," he interrupts, "I didn't want those extras in our business."
Izuku snorts, "I think it's a little late for that."
The other grumbles under his breath, "Was hoping they'd shut the hell up about it if we weren't doing anything in front of them."
He giggles a little at Kacchan's statement. Class 2-A is many things, but overall...subtle is not one of them. Izuku relaxes in the hold he's in, content to finally watch the movie. Though, when he starts to pay attention he starts to realize just why nobody seemed interested. It's painfully slow and boring. A few minutes in and Izuku is no better than Todoroki, his eyes start to flutter close and he sinks into the warmth beside him. Fingers run through his hair, petting the top of his head gently. Izuku smiles a soft, warm smile, drifting into the comfortable embrace of sleep.
Izuku jolts awake at a sharp poke on his knee, glancing around frantically before gaining his bearings. Uraraka is bent over him, a sharp smile in place, poking his knee with her nail. Ashido stands behind her, laughing behind her palm.
"You guys look cute together," she says, standing from her crouched position. Izuku furrows his brows before Kacchan's weight registers, and with that the memories of right before he fell asleep. He blushes fiercely, one hand coming up to cover his face. This jostles Kacchan and that's, of course, when he starts to wake up. Even more embarrassingly, Kacchan's apparent first reaction upon waking up is to squeeze whatever he's holding.
Which.
Is Izuku.
He yelps as he's pulled all the way into Kacchan's lap at the motion. The girls both laugh harder. This awakens Kacchan fully, who looks....well adorable when he’s confused, not that Izuku would ever say that out loud. Kacchan realizes where he's at a moment later though, glaring at the laughing girls. But. Well. He isn't trying to pull away or push Izuku off.
"Why don't fuck off and mind your own business?" His arm remains around Izuku.
Izuku reclines as best he can. The position he's in is only slightly awkward, though he'll probably have to move or get up soon to avoid a side stitch.
“Okay, okay!” Ashido laughs, grabbing Uraraka by the elbow, “We’ll leave you snuggle bugs alone.”
She sticks out her tongue and Uraraka giggles with a wave, “You might want to wake Todoroki before you go to bed!”
The two of them glance at the sleeping form.
“Nah, half-and-half looks just fine.”
“Kacchan!” Izuku lightly bats at his boyfriend’s face. Kacchan just snorts at him.
“Fine, but he can wait.” He wants to ask what Kacchan means by that, but he’s being re-positioned to a more comfortable spot on Kacchan’s lap. His face burns bright and he yelps just a little.
“Hey!"
“Oh,” Kacchan smirks, “Thought you wanted to get up close and personal.”
Izuku sputters, “Well, yeah, but you could warn me!” Kacchan buries his face in Izuku’s curls.
“Tch, sure.” He sounds grumpy, but his arms are warm and heavy around Izuku’s chest. He’s still tired, honestly, and Kacchan is breathing slow and soft. He lets his head fall back, listening to the beat of his boyfriend’s heart and slips once more into slumber, safe knowing Kacchan was right there with him.
