Work Text:
It was chaotic, like a scene from hell itself. Up front, Khun could see the flaring flames of the battlefield and shattered buildings, remains that barely seem like they used to be glorious skyscrapers. The aftermath of this battle is terrible indeed, but that is not what’s on Khun’s mind right now.
Right now, his eyes are glued to the diabolical scene indeed, but not to these mere stick and stones laying scattered on the ground, nor at the thick black fog that anyone can see from a considerable distance. It was at neither of those, but at this horrible vision, this utterly horrifying vision.
There it is, high above the dark sky, Bam. His Bam. Aguero’s Bam. Taking a direct hit to his chest, and falling down to the ground with high speed. NO. He thought. I WON'T MAKE IT IN TIME. “BAM!!!!” Khun screamed with all his might.
And with that he had awoken. With seemingly cold sweat. Ah, another nightmare. And so Khun took a deep breath.
But his nostrills was quickly greeted by a certain pleasant aroma. It smells a little familiar to him, but he couldn't put a finger on what it actually is. Thus, doing what his instincts tell him to do, he followed it. Rubbing his half-lidded, sleepy eyes, Khun stopped in front of the kitchen.
Mildly shocked, he found Bam already in front of the stove, his back facing Khun’s direction. His brown hair tied up in a neat tiny ponytail, flipping delicious looking pancakes with such ease. Khun's brain cannot fully register this sight, for the image before him seems a little too divine to be real. And the fact that he was practically half awake doesn’t seem to be helping him much. Coming closer to reach for his loved one's back, Khun muttered under his breath.
“Pleasee tell me I’m not dreaming...” In a groggy voice, a little raspy. However strange it might be for other people, to Bam, Khun’s voice at that moment sounds strangely pleasant in his ears. To Bam, Khun’s morning voice sounded oddly compelling.
Khun looped his idle arms around his loved one’s body, settling in a comfortable spot by his torso. Bam surprisingly doesn’t sound flustered at Khun’s surprise attack from behind, or maybe he is, but he’s just good too at hiding it. Whichever that is though, Khun Aguero Agnis would never know.
“Good morning to you too, Khun-ssi.” Bam said with a light chuckle. As he tilted his head a bit to the side, Bam found the top of Khun’s head greeting him. And with little to no effort, he left a small peck there.
“Good morning, Bam.” Khun replied with a slight slur to his voice, muffled by Bam’s back, it sounds almost incoherrent. To many people, Khun looking this vulnerable would be a rare sight. But to Bam, this kind of Khun is something he witness on the daily and never grows tired of.
“Khun-ssi, if you keep hugging me like that I won’t be able to finish preparing our breakfast you know.” Bam said, awfully glee. But Khun seemed somehow hesitant to let go in that moment. “In a minute.” He retorted. Softly snuggling into the warmth of Bam’s back.
“You’ve already made enough for made two portions anyways.” Khun mentioned, eyes darting to the stack of pancakes that Bam had put aside on top of the counter. Bam followed his gaze, and indeed, there was already quite a few stacked on top of the two aforementioned white plates.
“But I still have some leftover batter.” Bam countered. “Plus, what makes you think I won’t be able to finish them all?” he added rather cheekily. At this Khun simply huffed.
“Come on, please?? Aguero-“ And at that Khun flinched slightly. Bam, apparently, has used the all time most effective trap card. He knew that Khun gets absolutely weak whenever his given name rolls out of Bam’s tounge.
“Ughh, fine. I’ll get the coffee ready then.” And with that, Khun gave in to Bam’s demands, as always. After all, it’s no news that Khun is particularly weak for Bam, especially to that pleading eyes of his.
More precisely, Khun is weak to seemingly everything Bam does and has. Every aspect of him seems to be perfect in Khun’s eyes. From the gaze of his ridiculously beautiful golden eyes, his soft brown locks, his perfectly shaped lips that curved up almost all the time, which produces a bright smile that would even put the sun to shame, up to the very shape of his hands that seems to fit perfectly in Khun’s hold.
Brushing those thoughts aside, Khun moved to the opposite side of the kitchen, getting ready to prepare coffee. “Ah, right.” Bam muttered quite abruptly. “I like my coffee--“ “With two spoonfuls of sugar and milk.” Khun finished his sentence.
Both of them exchanged knowing glances, and Khun gave him a small smile before quickly turning away to finish up on their beverage. A cup of black coffee, and well, a seemingly over-sweetened brown liquid.
Khun moved to their dining table, which is in the next room, with their warm drinks. And Bam followed after him with two plates, both heavily stacked with mouthwatering pancakes, both stacks topped with a small cube of butter. After neatly placing their breakfast on the table, they both sat on their own designated seats. Bam immediately reached
for his overly-sweetened coffee, and soon Khun started a conversation, asking a question that has been bugging his mind.
“You know Bam,” Khun spoke, mildly chewing on a slice bit of pancake that he had doused with maple syrup before. At the mention of his own name, Bam moved his gaze toward the bluenette’s direction, putting down his coffee mug.
“I always wondered why you enjoy your coffee with that much sugar in it. I would never be able to stand that, especially in the mornings.” He continued. At this question Bam perked up. “Well I just can’t stand bitter things--”
“But isn’t that exactly what’s so good about coffee??”
“Well, I beg to differ.” Bam retorted. “Besides, doesn’t sugar give you more energy??” he pouts.
“Maybe, but it is also a well known fact that too much sugar can actually ruin your metabolism.” Khun stated, while sipping his pitch black coffee.
And there was no denying Khun’s statement. Bam may be quite stubborn at times, we know. But when it comes to debates that is linked to general knowledge, you know Khun is definitely winning.
“Yeah, you’re right about that one though. Maybe I’ll just settle for tea next time.” And it was Bam’s turn to give in.
“As you should, and all this talk does remind me of something though.” Khun stated, while mumbling the last part more to himself. However this caught Bam’s attention, and he stopped his chewing momentarily.
“Reminded you of what now--??” Bam asked, genuinely curious.
“Of the day when we first met.”
“On Sweet And Sour Café??” Bam guessed. “How so??”
“Don’t you remember that Frappuccino you suggested for me when I first came in?” Khun said, reminiscing “I really didn’t know what to get at that time, so I said that I’ll take whatever you--the cute waiter, recommended.”
“Whoa, Khun-ssi.” Bam said, looking a little astounded. “I’m actually surprised you remembered unbelievably small details such as those.” He gave a little smile, completely brushing off the fact that Khun basically made an attempt to fluster him.
“Yep, and I ended up gagging at how sweet it is. Ordered simple black coffee the next day.” Khun said. “Best decision yet”
“I even forgot that happened.” Bam stated. “How could you possibly remember something that happened 6 years ago?”
“Of course I remember, Bam.” Khun said in a rather matter-of-factly way. “And it shows how much I pay attention to everything you do, I love you-- after all.”
And at that Bam lets out a small laugh. “Now, now Khun-ssi, you know flattery would get you nowhere with me.” He said, putting both of his hands on his hip. “And come on, finish your meal. You got a busy day of work ahead of you.”
“Work can wait, I am the boss after all. I can go whenever I want.” Khun stated. And that wasn’t a lie, he does run his own successful company. And that’s how he’s able to buy this expensive condo uptown, which is exactly where they’re staying at the moment.
“But that won’t be a good example for your employees, Khun-ssi.” Bam said, giving him another pout of the day.
At that Khun lets out a chuckle. “You’re right, but I’m serious about what I said before though Bam.” Khun said, pausing mid sentence and giving Bam a slightly unreadable expression. “I could never imagine going into a random nearby coffee shop one day, coming in simply for coffee, but then actually finding the love of my life after doing so.”
Hearing Khun’s soft and seemingly longing tone, Bam reaches for his hand.
“You know I do love you, right—Aguero?” Bam looks up, directly at Khun’s sapphire hued orbs, and kissed the back of Khun’s pale, slender hand.
“And I love you too bam.” Khun smiled. “I love you, and I will love you until I die, and if there’s a life after that, I’ll love you then.”
