Work Text:

It’s around one in the morning when Sero is woken up by frantic knocking at his door.

He gets up and unlocks it groggily, and all of a sudden Kirishima busts into his room, looking sweaty and messed up and like he just got out of bed, too, despite his energy implying he just drank eight shots of espresso and snorted coke.

“Sero! I need tape!”

Sero rubs his eyes. “It’s one in the morning. Why the hell do you need tape?”

Eijiro is moving his hands as he talks, almost as if he’s acting out whatever’s happened with his fingers. “Okay, so, basically- if a wound is, like, a wound, you know? Like, if it’s bleeding, you need to cover it with something, but like, holding a cloth or a t-shirt or something on it isn’t gonna stop the bleeding, so if the wound was taped shut-”

His friend cuts him off. “Kirishima, what are you trying to say? Is someone hurt?”

Kirishima flushes red. “Nope, this is a theoretical situation, dude!”

“You need tape in real life for a theoretical situation?”

The redhead’s mouth snaps shut.

“Anyways,” Sero continues, “Kirishima, I love you, man, but that’s... that’s really stupid.”

“Hey!”

“No, like- if you put tape on a wound it’s just gonna reopen when you take the tape off, right?” he explains.

This seems to make Kirishima pause in thought. He has his head resting on his fingers, as if he’s thinking harder than he ever has in his life. Eventually, he lets out a sigh, his head drooping to the side like he’s accepted some defeat. “Yeah, I guess so. Man, what was I thinking?”

“I dunno,” Sero shrugged. “But, for real, if someone’s hurt, you might want to see Recovery Girl? It’s late, but I’m sure she’d be understanding! She’s super nice like that.”

Kirishima shakes his head, hands waving in front of him. “Ohh, no, I’m pretty sure this is an issue she won’t want to deal with, actually, bro, but thanks for the advice! Goodnight!”

And Eijiro steps out of Sero’s room, shutting the door himself and slamming it much too loudly.

He makes his way back to his own room, and then, after looking both ways almost comically and tentatively kicking the air around him in case Hagakure was there (she was not),  walks past it, knocking gently on Bakugou’s door.

He opens it slightly, before walking into his room and closing the door behind him.

“Did anyone have any gauze?”

Bakugou sounds about as annoyed as he was earlier, and Kirishima absolutely swoons. He’s sitting up in bed, shirtless, head tilted to one side, holding a t-shirt to the spot where his neck meets his collarbone. The room is fairly dark, as is the shirt he’s holding to his neck, but there’s still a noticeably darker patch on it, and Kirishima feels another tinge of guilt.

“Uh, no, sorry, dude. I figured Sero might have some, since he’s like, the tape guy, but I sort of forgot they weren’t the same thing for a second- it was stupid, I know,” he says as Bakugou opens his mouth to interrupt him. “But anyways, I think we might have to, uh, visit Recovery Girl?”

Bakugou’s face heats up as he slaps a hand on his face and groans. “You’re fucking kidding me. Just my luck. Is she even in her office right now?”

Kirishima just shrugs, eliciting another groan from the boy in the bed.

“Bakugou, man, it’s pretty late, I doubt anyone’ll see! Plus, it’s not like they’d ask, anyways.”

That was an outright lie and they both knew it. Class 1-A was nosy as fuck, and if Bakugou was going to Recovery Girl at one in the morning and someone caught him, everyone would be interested and rumours would spread like wildfire.

“We could just wait for the bleeding to stop.” Bakugou said with a huff.

“It’s been bleeding for like half an hour, which is a pretty long time,” Eijiro points out.

Bakugou just growls and throws a pillow at Kirishima, almost hitting him directly in the face, if he didn’t catch it, which he did. “ Fine, ” he hisses, swinging his legs off the bed and preparing to get up.

Even though Kirishima had been in the same bed not too long ago, kissing the boy in front of him sloppily and heated, he still looked away as Bakugou stood only in his boxers as he pulled on a pair of pyjama pants. Something about it still felt so intimate in a way he wasn’t used to. Holding Bakugou in his arms felt so right, but at the same time, there was always that panic in his chest like he was doing something wrong. He doubted that would ever go away, but it was nice to think it could.

Bakugou pulled a shirt over his head, and resumed holding the bloodied one to his neck. Kirishima offered a hand to Bakugou. The other boy simply huffed.

As they walked, however, the blond’s hand slipped into Eijiro’s, although neither of them dared mention it.

A few minutes later and they were waiting outside of Recovery Girl’s office, which was thankfully still up and running, so to speak. In the bright light, Kirishima could see how disheveled Bakugou looked, and a small part of him felt all giddy inside. I did that. I made him look like that and he liked it.

He didn’t really have much place to point that out, though, since he also looked like a wreck, courtesy of the boy sitting to his right.

“What’re you looking at?”

“Nothing! Nothing.” Kirishima looked away quickly, covering the small smile on his face with his hand.

The two sat in silence until Recovery Girl walked out to greet them and treat Bakugou. Kirishima didn’t make eye contact with her at all, staring directly at the floor like if he blinked he’d die- as soon as she saw them there was no way she didn’t know they’d gotten up to something.

“Oh, dear, how did you get this,” she asked with a yawn, moving the DIY-bandage-shirt off of Bakugou’s shoulder and revealing very deep bite marks. “It’s like a shark mauled you, dearie!”

“Motorbike accident,” Bakugou lied through his teeth, and if Recovery Girl wasn’t there Kirishima would have called him out on the world’s worst lie- no one in class 1-A had a motorbike, obviously, including Bakugou, and the wounds were clearly bite marks. Despite his absolute wreck of an excuse, the school nurse simply hummed, doing her job and covering the wound with gauze.

“Thanks, Recovery Girl!” Kirishima says as he and Bakugou head out, elbowing the shorter man slightly as a hint. Bakugou grumbles out his appreciation to her, albeit mumbled.

“Oh, before you go! Can’t have any students being too risky,” she says, and hands him some... condoms. This elderly woman just handed Kirishima some condoms. “I’m the school nurse, you know! Have to make sure the students are safe in more ways than one!”

With a smile, she closes the door behind her. Kirishima stammers and Bakugou’s face is red.

... Kirishima pockets the condoms as they head back to the dorms.

The walk back is quiet, sort of awkward, if Kirishima is being honest, but Bakugou breaks the silence.

“We have to get you a mouthguard or something so this doesn’t happen again."

A goofy grin lights up Kirishima’s face. Man, he’s sure something, huh?
