Work Text:

"I will never be with a man who thinks money can buy over people's lives."
With that said, Haru Kato ran into the rain, sobbing. Daisuke would be the first to say; he had no
idea how this happened. One minute he was showering his mate in jets, private islands, and a
Lamborghini Sian* and the next, a painful slap to his cheek, and an upset mate. Now, Daisuke
Kanbe is many things, a rich detective millionaire, an investor in companies all over the globe,
heir to one of the richest, and prominent families in the world, but an expert in love isn't his forte.
Where did he go wrong?
It all started a couple of weeks ago when Haru was pulling an all-nighter, he noticed his fridge
empty.
"It looks like I need to make a quick late-night run to the corner store," he sighed as he slammed
the fridge shut. Rubbing his sore and bloodshot eyes, Haru toed on his shoes, grabbed his coat,
and walked out of his house.
Haru watched his breath fog up as he walked down the dark road. Winter was approaching,
make sure to stock up on firewood, he reminded himself. In the distance, he could see the faint
glow of the neighborhood corner store, so he sped up to get there quicker.
He was passing a dark alley when the yelling of thugs caught his attention. Knowing full well of
the trouble it would cause him to get involved, Haru decided to ignore the possible fight and
mind his own business.
At least, that was his plan until an overwhelming shiver sent him to his knees.
Haru Kato was not an idiot; everyone and their mamas knew what a full-body shiver meant for
an individual. He just accidentally stumbled upon his only soulmate.
"Oh, you have got to be kidding me!" Haru yelled as he got to his feet and dashed down the
alley.
Sure enough, being pinned against an alley wall was his soulmate.
Haru's breath hitched as his eyes landed upon the man before him.
Short but well built, glossy black hair, and piercing blue eyes, his mate was something to
behold.
"Are you just going to stand there staring?" a smooth voice asked, breaking from his thoughts.
Haru gawked at his mate as the thug's noticed him standing there.
"Is that your way of asking for help!?" he squawked.
"Why else would you be here?" the man questioned back.
Haru trembled in anger at this man's confident tone as the thugs stepped towards him.
"Oi! Are you a friend of this bastard?" a man hollered as he circled Haru.
"Please refrain from entering my personal space. I won't be held responsible for what is about to
happen if you refuse," Haru sighed as he eyed the men.
"Ohohoho!? So we got a wise guy on our hands! And what are you going to do about it?" The
man that was circling him asked as he got in Haru's face.
Without warning, Haru slammed his head into the man's face relishing the audible crack of the
man's nose breaking before swooping down and taking out the man's feet.
"I guarantee you nothing good," Haru murmured into his ear as he pinned the man's arm behind
his back.
"Get off of him!" Someone roared before the last three men charged his way.
Haru quickly twisted out of the way as a man threw a kick at his head, before grabbing the foot
and cracked it with an audible snap.
As the man screamed and withered on the ground, Haru charged at another man and slammed
his face into an alley wall, effectively knocking him out.
With the rest of his buddies either unconscious or injured, the last remaining guy cowered away
from Haru.
"P...Please don't hurt me," he pleaded.
"Oi, oi, oi, don't make me out to be the bad guy here!" Haru said in exasperation.
"I...I'm sorry," he sobbed.
"Just take your buddies and leave," Haru sighed as he stepped away from the bloody men and
walked towards his mate, who was watching the scene with calm, blue eyes.
"Come on, let's go, I need to get to the corner store before it closes," Haru nagged as he
dragged the shorter man out of the alley.
"it appears it already has," the man observes as they watch the store owner lock up for the
night.
"Oh, come on! I just wanted ramen! This is all your fault!" Haru groaned as he sunk to the
ground.
"Oh? Do tell how this was my fault," the man challenged back.
"HUH!? If you weren't stupid enough to get trapped in an alley with some thugs than this
wouldn't have happened in the first place!" Haru roared.
"Hmm...then allow me to repay you," the man said after a pause.
Haru looked up from his puddle of tears to see his mate slide on a pair of sunglasses.
"what are you doing? It's night time," Haru blinked.
"HEUSC, find me the nearest restaurant," he mumbled, completely ignoring Haru.
"Ah...Who are you talking to?" Haru asked, more than a little creeped out.
"My butler," he replied as he took off the glasses and eyed him on the ground.
Haru did not like the way this man was looking down upon him, so he stood up and smirked as
he towered over the man.
"Follow me," he ordered humorlessly, more than a little aggravated at the height of the other.
"Oi! No way am I going to follow after a person I don't even know the name of!" Haru scoffed.
The man blinked up at him, surprised, "You do not know who I am?"
Haru refused to feel like the dumb one here, so instead of answering, he decided to walk away.
"Daisuke Kanbe," the man said.
Haru turned around to face Daisuke with a small smile.
"Well, Daisuke Kanbe, My name is Haru Kato. It's semi-nice to meet you," he said.
"Haru, allow me to treat you to dinner. We have much to discuss as newfound mates," Daisuke
offered.
In truth, Haru was hungry, and he wanted to know more about his mate, so with a hesitant nod,
he followed after the man.
Haru has seen many things, but he has never seen a Bugatti La Voiture Noire* in real life.
Gapping at this shiny car that costs more than his life, Haru finally took in his mate's full
appearance. How could he overlook the 50,000 dollar Kiton tailored suit and the 38,000 dollar
Testoni men's dress shoes?
Haru immediately felt a deep dislike for this man's flashy lifestyle.
With a heavy sigh, he stepped into the most expensive car of his life with the most extravagant
man on the planet. Talk about being out of place. Haru should be at home right now eating cup
ramen, and stressing over his paperwork.
Haru should have guessed that this man would never step foot in a regular fast-food
establishment, and instead ate his meals at the best 5-star restaurants in Tokyo. And so, that is
how he found himself standing in front of リッチ 人 食物* with an elegant waiter stripping him of
his coat.
"Y...You!? Are you trying to show off your money or something? This is entirely unnecessary!"
Haru screeched, which got him numerous nasty looks.
Daisuke had the gull to look confused, and Haru understood now more than ever why this man
was cornered in an alley.
"right this way sirs," a waiter said.
Before Haru could run away, Daisuke grabbed his hand and pulled him into the restaurant.
At the table with a menu in his hands, Haru's eyes spun at the price tags on the food items.
"May I take your order?" a waiter asked.
"We'll have the Haute vegetarian cuisine," Daisuke said.
Haru sighed in relief at not having to order.
"So tell me about yourself, my soulmate," Daisuke said as the waiter walked away.
Haru blushed and looked around to make sure nobody heard that when he noticed no one else
was there but them.
"Where did everyone go? I know I saw people at the entrance," Haru hummed.
"Worry not, this is my first dinner with my mate, so I bought the place to make sure would be
alone*," Daisuke said.
"Oh. That explai- WAIT WHAT!?" Haru jerked up and slammed his hands down on the table.
Daisuke nonchalantly caught his wine before it tipped over and eyed Haru, and even though
Haru towered over the man, he immediately felt small.
"I bought the restaurant, but if that is not to your liking, then I could just buy a different one," he
sighed.
"NO! Seriously stop with the money crap!" Haru growled.
Daisuke tilted his head in confusion as he slowly sipped his wine.
"I seriously hate anybody who goes around slapping people in the face with their money! You do
know that there are perfectly good things you can do and get without money, right!?" Haru
hissed.
Daisuke hummed as he finished off his drink and held it up for a waiter to refill.
Haru sighed and slumped down in his chair when he realized how useless his words were.
With his drink filled back up, Daisuke watched him with expecting eyes.
"You're impossible," Haru sighed, "As you know my name is Haru Kato, I work for a small law
firm downtown, I eat out way too much, and a sleep schedule doesn't exist, my mom and dad,
both passed away when I was a kid, and I have no siblings. I work way too much overtime, and
my favorite dish is pork. Is that good enough for you?" he sighed.
Seriously, the gap between their lives hit Haru tenfold, how are they even mates?
"Hmm...I see," Daisuke hummed just as the food arrived.
"Oi! This is the part where you tell me who you are!" Haru growled as he took a bite of probably
the most delicious food he will ever eat.
"Ah, I come from the Kanbe family, I own businesses and shops and...well pretty much
everything, I work as a detective in my free time, I live with my sister, and I enjoy technology,"
Daisuke said.
Haru was left fuming by the end of it.
"That didn't tell me anything about who you are! All I learned out of that is that you're rich, and I
already got the message! I'm not interested in that!" Haru growled as he gestured at the
restaurant his mate now owned.
Daisuke leaned back in his chair and slowly loosened his tie, "Then what are you interested in?"
he slowly asked as his beautiful blue eyes grew darker.
Haru gulped at this man's sex appeal. He already found himself drawn to this man's gorgeous
black hair and playful smile.
"I don't care about your money, I...I'm not a mate to your money, I'm a mate to you. Just
Daisuke. I want to hear about your favorite food and book and what you like to do when you're
not spending money," Haru blushed as he stared at his mate.
"Hmm...no one has ever asked me any of that before. Fine then, my favorite food is Iberian
ham? I guess my favorite book would be Finnegans Wake by James Joyce. And when I'm not
spending money, I'm sleeping?" Daisuke said with visible strain.
Haru watched his mate struggle and immediately felt himself soften up.
"It seems you know as much about yourself as I do," he said softly.
Daisuke's eyes widened as he looked up to meet Haru's gaze, "Interesting, no one has ever
dared to speak to me as you do," he said with a smile.
Haru's heart thumped at the small but very much real smile. It was probably the most beautiful
thing he has ever seen. More beautiful than any sports car, tuxedo, or restaurant this man
owned.
"I think if you laid off on the money part, I could come to like you, Daisuke," Haru said without
thinking.
Daisuke blinked and then chuckled, "I've never met anyone as honest as you, Haru."
Haru felt his heart skip all over again at this man's laugh. Oh god, Haru couldn't handle a smiling
and laughing Daisuke.
Haru quickly stuffed his mouth with the food before it blurted out anything cringy again.
When the two finished their food, Daisuke gave Haru a ride home, and Haru immediately
realized his mistake.
"You live in this dump?" Daisuke sneered as he eyes the small apartment.
"Oi! Don't insult my home!" Haru yelled as he reached to open his door before an audible click
made him pause,
"Daisuke...Did you lock the doors?" he asked slowly.
"I can not have my mate living in such an unacceptable household. You will come live with me, I
shall send someone tomorrow to pick up your belongings," Daisuke announced as he slammed
on the gas.
Haru complained the entire way, but when the car pulled up, he was left speechless.
"Why did you take us to a hotel?" he asked.
"Hotel? this is my mansion," Daisuke said as he held open Haru's door.
Haru had no words to describe the mansion that towered before him.
As Daisuke handed his keys off to his driver, Haru stood frozen in place. No way was he ever
going to live here. The curtains alone must cost more than what he makes in 10 years!
"Come on, Haru," Daisuke urged, "It's cold."
"You...have got to be kidding me," Haru whispered as he dazedly followed after his mate.
"Welcome home master," a chorus of voices greeted.
"prepare the room next to mine for my soulmate," Daisuke ordered as a butler came to take their
coats.
"right away," the butler said with a bow before walking off.
"Did I just hear that right!?" A girly voice shouted from the top of the staircase.
Haru looked up to see a female version of Daisuke run and trip down the steps. This must be
Daisuke's sister.
"I told you not to run down the stairs," Daisuke muttered with a warm tone as he helped the
women up.
"Not important! Did I hear you say SOULMATE!?" she squealed.
"Suzue, this is my soulmate Haru, Haru this is my sister," Daisuke announced.
Suzue squealed louder and pushed her brother aside to embrace Haru.
"I am so, so, so happy to meet you! Do you know how long mother and grandmother have been
on Daisuke's case about having children!? Oh, they are going to be overjoyed!" Suzue yelled
and pulled out her phone.
Haru was left breathless and flustered as he watched the girl rush away, already talking
animatedly on her phone.
"C...children!?" Haru half whispered, half screamed.
"Nothing to worry about, I have no plans of having children with you for now," Daisuke
reassured.
"F...FOR NOW!?" he screeched.
"Yes...that is what mates do, you know," Daisuke said slowly like he was talking to a toddler.
Haru felt all his energy leave him, "I would like to go to sleep," he sniffed.
"Are you crying?" Daisuke questioned as he lifted Haru's face.
"Shut up! I'm not crying!" Haru yelled and jerked his chin out of his mate's hold.
Haru saw his mate shiver and smelled Daisuke's pheromones in the air.
"Y...YOU WEIRDO!! YOU FEEL EXCITED WHEN YOU SEE ME CRY DON'T YOU!?" Haru
screamed as he pushed his mate away from him.
"Let's go to our rooms," Daisuke said as he briskly walked up the steps.
Haru easily kept up with the other male with his longer legs but made sure to keep a distance
between them.
"Your rooms there goodnight," Daisuke pointed at the room next to his before hurrying into his
own and slamming the door.
"You perv," Haru muttered as he walked into his lavish room. It was bigger than his entire
apartment! The room had a soft bed covered in Muga silk* bedding. There were dressers made
from African Blackwood* and a Stuart Hughes Prestige HD Supreme Edition* flatscreen T.V.
standing in the center of the room with a Poltrona Frau Kennedee Curved Sofa* curled around
it. Another door led to a sparkling bathroom with Pietra Firma Luxtouch Tiles*, a BLIDÖ sink*,
and a crystal bathtub*. Haru was almost blinded by the wealth that seemed to surprise him
every time he was with Daisuke. Slowly, and a little scared, Haru opened the walk-in closet and
gawked at the Kiton*, Desmond Merrion*, Ermenegildo Zegna*, and Loro Piana* suits that hung
in plastic bags in rows.
The room was undoubtedly beautiful, but it somehow felt empty and cold. Quickly, Haru
slammed the door and promptly dropped on the most comfortable bed in the world.
The next morning, a cheerful maid woke Haru up and announced breakfast was ready. In the
dining room, Haru spotted Daisuke and Suzue eating pancakes and talking at a long dinner
table.
"Good morning," Haru yawned as he flopped down in a seat and was served food of his own.
"Good morning, how was your night?" Suzue asked as she chugged her coffee.
"I loved the bed, everything else was past my comprehension," Haru sighed, as he ate a piece
of pancake.
"Yeah, Daisuke has always had an...extreme taste," Suzue giggled.
"More like extra," Haru chuckled back.
Haru noticed Daisuke watching their small banter, and Haru's heart trembled at the affectionate
gleam in his blue eyes.
Daisuke noticed him staring and quickly turned back to his computer.
"Eat quickly, today we must drop by your rat hole you call home and pick up your stuff," Daisuke
said as he typed away on the screen.
"Hey! I feel a lot more comfortable in my 'rat hole I call home' then the diamond-encrusted cage
of a room I just slept in!" Haru squawked as he sipped his tea.
"Was the room not to your liking? I can have anything you would like installed in it," Daisuke
said as he finally looked up from his work.
"Hah...nevermind. You can't just paint over the chill in that room with more money, you idiot,"
Haru sighed as he finished off his pancakes.
"Then shall I build in a heater?" Daisuke asked in confusion.
"No! I'm saying that this place lacks warmth! Everything is dipped in gold, nothing here says that
this is a place you come home to everyday! It lacks a human's touch! Isn't that lonely?" Haru
asked as he rested his head on his palm.
Daisuke looked away considerately before finally turning back to him. "Then why don't you give
it more warmth, you will be living here now as well. Perhaps you could teach me a few things,"
he said with a chuckle.
Haru felt both bashful and annoyed at the obvious challenge in the man's tone.
"By the time I'm done with you, you won't be spending a single dime on unnecessary things!"
Haru declared.
"Sure, sure, let's go get this over with, I have a meeting today," Daisuke said as he stood up
from the table.
"Yeah, I need to get back to my lab anyway!" Suzue announced as she strode away.
Immediately, servants cleared the table and seemed to disappear into thin air again.
"Woah," Haru whistled as he followed Daisuke to the elevator.
"Wait, why are we going up?" Haru asked as Daisuke pressed the top floor button.
"A present," Daisuke said as the elevator went up.
"A present? On the roof?" Haru asked, confused.
Daisuke hummed as the elevator finally came to a stop and opened.
"I...Is that a freaking jet!?" Haru screeched.
"Let's go," Daisuke said as the pilot held open the doors allowing them entry.
"You did not just give me a jet as a present," Haru said in disbelief.
"I did," he replied.
"Take it back," Haru argued.
"I won't," he replied.
"Daisuke!"
"You're not even allowed to park this on the apartment building!" Haru argued as the jet came to
a rest on the roof of the apartment.
"I'm allowed to park my property on my property," Daisuke said.
"You didn't," Haru whispered.
"I did," he answered.
"YOU BOUGHT THE APARTMENT BUILDING!?" Haru screamed.
"Yes," Daisuke affirmed as he stepped out of the jet.
"Return it!" Haru growled.
"No," he replied.
"You said it was a rat hole!" Haru yelled.
"And it is. Honestly, it tarnishes my reputation just owning it, that's why demolition begins as
soon as your stuff is out," Daisuke answered as he opened the roof door.
"You can't! people still live here!" Haru yelped.
Suddenly, a small woman stuck her head out of a door as they passed.
"Mr. Daisuke! Thank you so much for buying me a new home!" She called.
"I bought all the tenants here new homes," Daisuke said as they reached Haru's door.
"Daisuke!!"
"Y...You tore it down..." Haru whispered.
"Yes," Daisuke replied.
"Drop me off at work, I have a headache," Haru sighed.
"You have the day off," he said.
"What? No, I don't, it's Monday? I've never had a day off o...oh god you didn't. Please tell me
you didn't," Haru cried.
"As your new boss, I give you today off," Daisuke answered.
"DAISUKE!!"
"I need a vacation away from this madness," Haru sobbed.
"I just bought you an Island in the Bahamas," Daisuke announced.
"WAIT, NO!" Haru gasped as he jumped up.
"Pilot turn the jet around," Daisuke instructed.
"B...but your meeting!" Haru said desperately, trying to grasp at straws.
"I'm the boss. I don't need to be there," he replied.
"Daisuke...no,"
Haru lifelessly flopped down in the sand. Earlier, he promised he would make Daisuke, spend
less money, and now he was lying on his private island questioning fate.
Any man or woman would be ecstatic to have a mate like Daisuke, but Haru wasn't. Daisuke's
ability to buy anything his heart desires has made Haru feel extremely out of place. His mate
was clever, beautiful, wealthy, and kind, unlike any other. Haru wished he could have even half
of what his mate has, maybe then he could be more worthy of him. Even just a little.
He wished that his mate would realize that Haru didn't care about nice homes or expensive
suits. Haru never needed any of that to be happy.
When Haru's parents were still alive, they would always tell him stories about, how when he met
his mate, they would stay with him forever, and how they were the better half of you. After their
death, Haru blamed the soulmate bond for taking them, because soulmates can't live without
one another.
As he grew up, Haru began looking forward to meeting the soulmate who can cure him of his
loneliness. He wanted someone who would stay by his side, and then he met Daisuke. Perfect
in every way possible. Kind enough to put up with Haru's constant yelling, funny enough to joke
along with him when he was angry, affectionate with his loved ones, and he was so gorgeous.
Haru felt weak in the knees when Daisuke would smile his way. He loved the way his blue eyes
would light up when he ate pancakes or when he would joke around with Suzue. He loved the
way his mate would laugh, it was like music. He loved it when he called him his soulmate.
In the end, Haru found himself in love with Daisuke.
Haru loved his mate, he knew that, but he wasn't sure his mate knew that. Haru didn't want jets
or private islands. He just wanted to know his mate's feelings, know the real Daisuke Kanbe
without the price tag on his name.
He wanted to know if Daisuke loved him back, even just a little.
Haru sighed as he sat up off the sand. It was getting dark, and they needed to be getting back.
"Are you ready to go?" Daisuke asked as he sat down his martini.
"Yeah," Haru answered.
The ride home was quiet as Haru slept, and Daisuke worked on a tablet. When the moon was
high in the sky, and the jet finally landed in a private airport, Daisuke woke his mate up, and
slowly, they exited the vehicle.
Sleepy, the two got into a car and drove off*.
"I've never seen this car, when did you get it?" Haru asked as light raindrops began hitting the
windshield.
"On our ride home, it's yours," Daisuke murmured as he switched lanes.
Haru froze and felt the final string snap inside of him.
"Stop the car," he whispered.
"Excuse me?" Daisuke asked.
"STOP THE CAR!" Haru screamed.
Puzzled and concerned, Daisuke pulled over at a curb and turned to face him.
Refusing to meet his eyes, Haru threw open the car door and stormed out.
"Haru? Where are you going? Get back in the car; it's starting to rain," Daisuke called out the
window.
Haru ignored the call and continued to stride away.
"Haru!" Daisuke finally yelled as he caught his mate's arm.
"Let me go," Haru choked out.
"No. Tell me what's wrong! Is it the car? Was it not to you liki..."
The echoing crack of a cheek getting smacked seemed to quiet the world around them,
seemingly watching with bated breath.
Daisuke cupped his red cheek and watched as his mate grabbed his collar.
"I never wanted any of this! I never asked you for this! I don't want new cars or private island
Daisuke! I want you! B...but I don't even know if you want me back! You keep on showering
things on me like I'm someone who only wants you for your money! Do you want to know the
first thing I noticed when I first saw you? It wasn't expensive, clothes or cars it was you! I love
your eyes and smile and every little human thing about you that you didn't buy!" Haru screamed
as tears poured out of his eyes and mixed with the rain.
"This money is part of who I am!" Daisuke yelled back as he shrugged off Haru's hold.
"Your money has nothing to do with who you are when you don't even know who you are!
Remember when we went to dinner, and you had to think so hard about something as simple as
a favorite food!? It seems like no one around you can think of you without thinking of your
money, not even yourself! I don't want to be one of those people, not when I'm your soulmate! I
want to be with you even if you lost every single cent you own because I love Daisuke Kanbe!
Not Daisuke Kanbe, the millionaire!" Haru sobbed as he pushed Daisuke's chest.
"GIVE ME A BREAK!" Daisuke roared, grabbing onto Haru's shoulders and jerking him until
they were face to face.
"I've never met a single person without a price tag! Everyone wants something from Daisuke
Kanbe, don't act like you're different!"
"I ONLY WANT YOU TO LOVE ME BACK!" Haru screamed as he pushed off Daisuke.
"I don't care how much money you have! I'm different from everyone else because you can't buy
me Daisuke! I'm your mate you didn't buy that; I fell in love with you, you didn't buy that! Don't
treat me like everyone else, that's not why fate brought us together! I...I'm supposed to be yourbetter half...we're supposed to be together, forever because we are different from everyone else
and that's what makes us perfect, you idiot! I will never be with a man who thinks money can
buy over people's lives!" With that, Haru turned around and ran into the downpour.
Daisuke had no idea what he did wrong. He thought that if he bought everything his mate
wished for that he would be happy. He has never had such a deep relationship before, and
everything was new to him. He hasn't ever felt his heart flutter like it did when he was with Haru,
he never knew he could be as happy as he was when he watched his mate. Daisuke knew Haru
was different, but that dark corner of his mind always makes him doubt.
He has spent his whole life surrounded by people who were only there for his money. He
learned to please people and get what he wanted by buying them whatever they wished. He
grew so used to people like that, that he expected everyone to be the same, but Haru...he
surprised him the moment their eyes met.
He never had someone yell at him or call him stupid or even treat him human. Haru seemed to
surprise him every day by complaining about everything no one else would. Daisuke knew his
mate was different; he has no idea why he blurted out what he did. He had no idea why he lost
his calm; only his mate could make him feel emotions he never experienced with anybody else.
Daisuke knew he loved his stubborn mate. He loved it when he smiled and cried, and laughed;
he loved it when Haru threw insults at him or argued with him because no one else had. He
loved it when he made Daisuke think about who he really was because he hasn't thought of it
before. His mate is the only person he has ever met that hasn't asked him for anything.
Daisuke broke from his thoughts when a cold chill went through his spine. His heart went cold
because he knew what this meant.
His mate was in danger.
Haru ran blindly as long as his legs could carry him. His mate never saw him differently from
anyone else. He believed Haru was only with him because he wanted his money despite Haru
continually telling him otherwise. Exhausted and soaked, the man crouched down and sobbed
himself breathless when drunken laughter met his ears.
Haru looked up and squinted threw the rain only to see the men he beat up before walking
towards him. Feeling numb and empty, he didn't bother getting up as the men began circling
him.
"Well, well, well, look who it is! The bastard who broke my nose!" A man with gauze over his
nose snickered.
"did you think you could avoid us forever?" A man with a cast on his leg growled.
"I gotta repay you for what you did to my face!" A man with scratches and missing teeth slurred.
"Where is your other buddy? The one who was too afraid to fight back when he was alone?"
Haru asked.
"Oh, we dealt with that wuss just fine. No need to worry about him," Broken nose dude
chuckled.
"You made a member of our crew turn against us! we're going to beat you to a pulp!" Broken leg
guy roared as he leaped at him and knocked him over.
Haru could have dealt with them last time because they were sober, and predictable, with drunk
people you never know what they might do next.
One man slammed his fist into Haru's face while another kicked him in the stomach, and all
Haru could do was knock them back and try to escape.
Getting barely even a foot away, someone grabbed his leg and slammed him back down.
Haru was about to kick him away when another guy took out a knife from his pocket. Before the
blade could stab him in his gut, a leg kicked the man in the face and sent him back.
"Haru, are you ok?" The voice asked as he crouched over him.
"Daisuke?" Haru asked.
"Yeah, just wait a minute while I deal with these guys," Daisuke said as he punched a guy in the
face.
Within minutes, Daisuke had them all bloody and unconscious.
"I didn't know you could fight. Why didn't you fight them off the first time?" Haru asked as he
wiped the blood off his mouth.
"A hot dude showed up out of nowhere and beat them up for me," Daisuke winked.
Haru blushed and looked down. The pair was silent as they thought of what to say.
"I'm sorry," Daisuke finally said.
Haru looked up in shock as his mate sat down beside him.
"I'm sorry I said you were like everybody else and that you just wanted me for my money. I'm
sorry for continuing to buy you stuff and making you feel more like a stranger than my mate. I've
never had such a deep relationship before, and it honestly scares me. I love you Haru," Daisuke
said.
Haru choked on his tears as he threw himself into Daisuke's arms.
"I love you to Daisuke. I'm sorry I smacked you, it must have hurt. I'm so sorry I said I would
never be with you, I'm sorry I yell at you so much, it must be so annoying," he cried.
"I love that annoyingly stubborn side of you," Daisuke chuckled.
"You are much more stubborn than me," Haru sniffled back.
"We should get back to the car and out of the rain before we catch a cold," Daisuke suggested
as he led his lover to their car.
The next day the two loveable idiots did catch a cold, and neither of them was happy.
"Daisuke...I blame you," Haru sniffed miserably, as he pushed Daisuke's warm body away.
"Your...the idiot that ran out of the car during a rainstorm," Daisuke argued back as he fought
against Haru's shove to panda hug the man again.
"You're a clingy sick patient, joy," Haru groaned.
"And you're grumpy," Daisuke countered.
"Stupid Daisuke,"
"Stubborn Haru."
