Bakugou Katsuki didn’t look like much of an angel. Of course, he had an ethereal glow to him and was undeniably as attractive as a light bearer should be, but his eyes were a piercing garnet and often glowered down at people. His scowl was a thing of nightmares, and his glare was a force to be reckoned with. Thankfully, that meant he got sent on a lot of more difficult missions- no spiritual healing retreats or volunteering in the streets. He pitied the angel that had to go around and “renew the peoples faith” by spreading word of whatever ‘god’ or ‘gods’ they believed in.
Not that it wasn’t important.
Bakugou just hated it with a passion brighter than hellfire. He’d take investigating the demonic energy coming from a human library any day. It was more than likely just another demon’s feeding ground, but, if there was any chance for action, he’d take it.
Demons were creatures born of negative energy, and, as a result, they fed on it. Normally, the heavens didn’t interfere with demon work too much, since their job was to maintain balance together in harmony, but this demon was interfering with the balance by spreading so much energy. It was either a group of low level demons or one high level demon looking for easy prey, and Bakugou was ready to take the fucker out.
Scarlet gems scanned the library as he walked into the facility, giving a half-hearted wave to the librarian shooting him an odd look. Ignoring her laser vision, the angel sent off to scour the halls of books. Not all demons looked the same, but, after being in the hunting business for as many centuries as he had, Bakugou knew a few telltale signs that most all of the vile fell victim to.
Seeing as the negativity was very concentrated- rather than being made up of several smaller energies combining, he had a high level demon on his hands. For the most part, higher level demons typically took after one of the seven deadly sins. With the exception of Sloth, high ranks often held their heads up high- Pride was especially bad with that. Wrath usually hunched their shoulders, as did Greed, for the most part. Gluttony and Envy could usually be told by their gazes bouncing around everywhere. Lust, well, Lust was usually obvious- but all of them had an aura of confidence, and an, ironic, holier-than-thou attitude. They rarely stuttered or apologized like normal humans. It was difficult to describe, but demons usually had inhuman ticks that gave them away-
Lost in thought, Bakugou almost didn’t notice the SLAM and THUMP of someone falling to the floor, too busy thinking about demons who looked, well, like everything exactly opposite of the boy in front of him.
Dark, fluffy curls fell on top of a tiny, freckled face of a lithe boy. No demon would willingly put themselves in such a frail looking body. His clothes were far too baggy to be Lust, falling off of his shoulder ungraciously- any Lust demon would have more tact than that… no matter how enticing it looked to Bakugou for a second there. His gentle, pale skin flashed from behind the soft fabric, a myriad of small, brown spots covered the flesh- another knock on the demon theory. Of course, there was no way the boy in front of him could be Wrath, or Gluttony for that matter, he didn’t look like he could eat a full meal, let alone throw a punch. Envy demons, much like Lust, typically preferred unmarred skin. There was no way the person in front of him was Pride- not with the way he was flustered, mumbling in an attempt to collect himself, and he couldn’t be Greed seeing as he was focused on picking up books rather than defining the so called “worth” of the male in front of him- the angel had gotten quite a few Greed demons by going to bars looking like a big deal.
“S-s-sorry, my bad,” the boy fixed his glasses, looking up at Bakugou with sparkling emerald orbs. The blond leaned down with a gruff, “My bad,” before reaching down to help the poor boy with his books. ‘Physics 101’ ruled out Sloth as an option. They did often look like college kids, but a majority of the Sloth demons he had encountered feeding on students had coding and game design books- not that those were easy fields to get into, but it was an easy gateway into a conversation about, “Yeah, I do game design! Do you maybe want to beta my latest piece/help me with the story/find what mechanics I want to use?” Next thing the poor sap knew, they had spent five hours gaming and got nothing done. Usually Sloths hung out in coffee shops where they could get better food by serving calming teas that really turned humans to mush, but the lack of filling meals would explain the frequency of the attacks.
“So, Physics?” Bakugou tried, offering the potential- but highly unlikely- demon in front of him a gateway into a tempting conversation.
“Yeah! It’s a passion of mine… weird, I know,” the boy beamed brightly, but it immediately died when he went off on a tangent. Honestly, this boy looked more angelic than Bakugou did, a soft smile returning to his plush, pink lips when he began to mumble again, “I just find the mechanics so fascinating! The fact that you can calculate exactly what an object is going to do without even conducting an experiment is just,” he let out a soft sigh, “Wow.”
If Bakugou didn’t know for sure that he was talking about Physics, he would have sworn this forest haired mop was going on about a crush.
“Oh!” he seemed to realize that he was the only one talking, “Sorry, I’m just going on aren’t I?” Stopping for a moment, the boy fixed his shirt before leaning down to pick up whatever books Bakugou hadn’t grabbed yet, “I know I can be a bit annoying… especially when a lot of people find Physics difficult, and say I’m just trying to flex on them- oh! Sorry!” he waved again, brushing a lock of almost seaweed looking hair behind the rim of his dark glasses. Yeah, there was no way this dude was a demon.
Or at least that was exactly what Midoriya Izuku wanted him to think.
A demon so high class he was above relying on just one of the Sins. A demon so high class he wasn’t “above” residing in a seemingly weak and pathetic human vessel. Emerald gems saw the hunger in the garnet eyes in front of him whenever they flicked over to his exposed shoulder. Everyone was prepared for obvious Sins, but he preferred to be more subtle- to be more, as one would say, “human;” it was how he had already bested three angels before.
Nonetheless, Bakugou strode forward, “Nah. If anyone says shit, just tell ‘em to fuck off.” The blond held a majority of the books in his own hands, visibly relaxing as he knocked the male in front of him off of the suspicion list-
Point for Midoriya-
“Name’s Bakugou. I can help carry this shit. You have a table?” the certainly more buff male easily held out his free arm as an awkward mix between a leverage point and an introductory handshake. He couldn’t put a label on this feeling in his gut that told him to stay with the boy- “Midoriya! I, um, I’m Midoriya…” shy eyes flickered up to his; and, although a small part of Bakugou yelled at him to run, it was outpaced by the fluttering of his heart at the boy, Midoriya- at Midoriya’s smile. There were very few creatures that made Bakugou, of all people, feel at ease despite his constant fight or flight gut instinct, but the scrawny and otherwise pathetic human in front of him seemed to be one of the few. Plus, he logically reasoned with himself, he was helping someone and getting a better layout of the library he was supposed to be surveying.
“And, well, thank you,” the timid boy flushed, freckles popping out as he tilted his head, “My table is over here, if, well, if you maybe want to study with me?” Midoriya shot a purposefully hopeful look up at Bakugou, before immediately diverting his eyes shyly, “I mean, of course, you can always say no, but, well, I figured-” He paused to bite his lip, shooting another hesitant look into dreamy scarlet gems.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever, nerd. I’ll study with you- if only to convince you that not everyone is intimidated by some dumb fucking Physics-” Bakgou adverted his gaze, ignoring the vague pink dusting his cheeks.
“Thanks!” Midoriya immediately chirped, not even bothering to hide the pep in his step after the other’s agreement. It was adorable, really, and Bakugou couldn’t help but smirk. Demons were cunning, but this? This was just some nerd excited to hang out with someone so above his level. Humans were always cute like that.
In no time, they settled into a booth where Bakugou leafed through one of the books Midoriya picked out, nearly forgetting why he was at the library to begin with when the smaller male scooted closer to him, pulling out a book of his own and pointing to a page. “See, with this formula, you can…” rosey lips moved so fast, they were almost difficult to keep up with, but Bakugou- thankfully- knew a thing or two about Physics and kept up quite nicely with the nerd going on.
Suddenly, they were both closing the gap between them, moving until their thighs were touching even if it was just barely. The angel couldn’t help but look over as Midoriya brushed a lock of hair away from his eyes, his cheerful smile visible below those rounded, rose cheeks. His fingers, now that garnet eyes had seen them closer, were slightly crooked, and, once again, the boy’s baggy shirt had fallen, exposing his collarbone.
Emeralds shifted slightly, realizing that Bakugou had been quiet for a bit longer than usual, and looked up at him. For a split second, their gazes locked onto each other, and, suddenly, Midoriya found his eyes fluttering shut as he leaned in. Rationally, the angel should have leaned back or did anything to disrupt the boy’s flow, but he didn’t. Instead, Bakugou leaned in a little himself, finding that those plush lips felt as soft as they looked. While kissing wasn’t the blond’s typical passtime, he found himself leaning into the action, enamored when Midoriya hesitantly ran his tongue over his partner’s bottom lip.
Of course, Bakugou parted his lips for the careful exploration, and he even retaliated, using tricks of his own to infatuate the freckled male. That was, until Midoriya pulled back woefully, “I-I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to-” his voice was barely above a whisper, and his cheeks were almost darker than the angel’s eyes.
“You’re right, we shouldn’t…” Bakugou looked over to see that was the wrong reaction. Midoriya scooted farther away from the blond, curling his hands to his chest, “I didn’t mean-” for a second there, the angel panicked. He knew how clearly fragile human emotions were, “I mean, shit, we shouldn’t do this here- not that there’s anything wrong with you…” The blond fumbled for his words- this was why he never picked up the “empowering the peoples” missions… he sucked ass at them.
“Is it…” emerald eyes looked away, but Midoriya’s hand, or moreso his pinky, moved to overlap with Bakugou’s hand, “Is it so bad?” Another flutter of those long, dark eyelashes rustled the dust in the air as he tentatively looked over at the angel.
“Yeah, we shouldn’t…” scarlet gems found themselves looking away… How could he, of all people, get trapped by temptation? They were in the middle of a public library- not that the heavens were as strict as humans made them out to be, but Bakugou knew that he was in the middle of a job, looking for a dangerous demon-
“You’re right, I’m sorry, I just,” Midoriya quickly snapped his hand back, rushing to get out of the booth with embarrassment clear on his face.
Bakugou was about to go after him when it suddenly sunk in. He was looking for a very dangerous demon who was feeding on the humans in this library… He was looking for a high level demon who was clearly skilled in their craft… A demon who had tricked several angels before…
Fuck. The angel had been bested at his own damn game
“Wait!” he whispered as loudly as he could manage. There was only one for-sure way to know if Midoriya was a demon or not, and that was to force the glamour to fall. It was only natural, at this point, for Bakugou to chase after the mop of shadowy curls as they bounced away. He knew he should have been more attentive, but, thankfully, he caught sight of the demon turning the corner to one of the many rows of books. Speeding up slightly, Bakugou lunged forward, hand darting suspiciously to Midoriya’s backside. If his fingers hadn’t wrapped around something a few inches from the boy’s actual body, that would have been extremely difficult to explain.
“A~h~” the demon immediately fell to his knees, a thorny tail revealing itself in Bakugou’s grasp while branch-like horns twisted from below the forest locks. The look on Midoriya’s face as he turned around was sheer madness; it was somewhere between pleasure and pain. His eyes glowed neon and the rest of his features contorted awkwardly to meet Bakugou’s dumbstruck face. Immediately letting go and stepping back, the blond could feel the ice running through his veins, just like he could see the sweat beading over freckles.
The demon whipped his entire body around, tail thwaping like a whip against the air as he moved to drape both arms over Bakugou’s shoulders- trapping him in place. “You know what it means to grab a demon by the tail, don’t you, Katsuki~?” Midoriya’s sing-song voice was dangerous- that much was obvious. A demon’s tail was their weak point- but for all of the wrong reasons.
The way said tail flicked behind the demon impatiently, on top of how his previously needle thin pupils were blown wide, told Bakugou that he had yet another mistake to add to his growing list.
“Are you prepared to face the consequences, Katsuki?” Midoriya whispered, inches from the blond’s face full of regret, but something told the angel he would enjoy the “consequences” a lot more than he really should...
