Chapter Text

Kusuo shifted ever so slightly, careful not to wake the sleeping girl on his arm. Looking down at her admittedly angelic face with a mere hint of a smile on his face, he let his mind wander for a little.

His relationship with Kokomi hadn’t gotten off to the best start. Her beauty had no effect on him, and the amount of attention she drew to herself unintentionally was always so troublesome, especially for someone like him, a psychic so desperate to blend in and live a completely average life. So for a while, he avoided her as much as possible. But she was after all, God’s favourite angel and somehow one night, it had hit him. Sitting across from her as they worked on a project together and admiring her intelligence and commitment to her perfect grades, as well as her rather witty sense of humour, he realised that he’d fallen for her. After a few awkward events and attempting to deal with this new feeling, they’d finally confessed and started dating. It had been almost a year now and to his surprise he’d found that he’d come to be happier than he expected with her.

Before Kokomi came along, Kusuo could never see the point in romance or relationships. In all honesty, he was rather arrogant, and considered himself to be above the human race in general. And maybe he was in some aspects, but he was still human, and over time, Kokomi and also his childish friends had softened him up quite a bit.

Kusuo had often wondered why, when Kokomi, the most beautiful girl in all of Japan, had chosen him. But the more he learnt about her and himself, the more it made sense.

Kokomi focused all of her energy into portraying herself as the perfect pretty girl, to live up to peoples expectations of her, to live as someone with no flaws or insecurities. Kusuo had always respected how hard she worked at school and anywhere else, to be kind to everyone and to make others happy. While she could be slightly arrogant at times, it was within good reason, due to the fact that she’d lived her whole life being worshipped and couldn’t be so naïve as to not understand why. But underneath the persona she showed to the world, she still was a girl who just wanted to be at peace sometimes. So when she crossed paths with a boy who wanted nothing to do with her, she finally felt... real. And despite how much Kusuo had tried to avoid her or sway her feelings, she never stopped caring about him and loving him.

She bakes him sweets whenever she notices that he’s a little more tired looking than usual, which was often due to losing sleep after preventing a major natural disaster. She stands up for him, especially against her older brother. She respects his wishes of wanting to prevent from drawing attention to himself and instead plans quieter dates for them instead. She works hard, to keep everyone around her happy, often sacrificing her own happiness to do it.

He looks down at her now and runs his fingers through her silky blue hair, pressing a light kiss on her forehead.

“Thank you Kokomi. For loving someone like me.”
