Staying Over

Summary:

INSPIRED BY EPISODE 4

Daisuke visited Haru once, and now he's been coming over and over and over. Haru doesn't know what to do with the sudden attention except to keep feeding the billionaire.

Along the way, lots of domestic fluff happens and the two fall in love.

Notes:

THIS WAS ENTIRELY INSPIRED BY EPISODE 4!!!!

I watched episode 4 at around 10 PM and after I finished it I was in love and immediately started writing a short fanfic because I got heavily inspired.

This story will characterize them differently than my other stories because I'm trying to get their personalities and such as accurately as possible. :D

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Storming off

Chapter Text

After Daisuke stormed off from his mansion and wound up on a series of events that lead to him bonding with Haru- Daisuke seems to storm off more often.

It was about a week later when Daisuke knocked on Haru’s apartment doors, on the day they’re both off.

Haru opened the door with a confused expression on his face, then his eyes widened when he realized who was at his doors. “Kambe?”

Daisuke nodded stoically.

“What are you doing here?” Haru asked, trying to maintain politeness, but he can’t help but let some exasperation seep through his words. Whenever he’s with Daisuke, exhausting things are bound to happen.

“I’m…” Daisuke paused, unsure of how to word what he wanted. “I’m staying over.”

Haru immediately understood and opened the door. “Another fight?”

“Yes.” Daisuke lied and walked in. He eyed Haru’s clustered space and the mess on the ground.

“Aye, don’t judge,” Haru flushed, “I was busy and didn’t expect you here.”

“I wasn’t judging.” Daisuke said. He awkwardly stood there, not knowing where to sit or if he could even sit.

Luckily, neither Daisuke nor Haru had to say anything. Daisuke’s stomach growled rather loudly, loud enough for both men to hear.

“...I was about to make dinner.” Haru finally broke the silence. “Help me chop some carrots and potatoes.”

Daisuke nodded. He still remembered the steps and procedures from last week. He headed over to Haru’s kitchen and began working on the vegetables (not to brag or anything, but he’s basically an expert).

Haru, although a bit surprised at Daisuke’s willingness, smiled to himself. Daisuke- the cool-headed billionaire who seems to be emotionally cold- being obedient and listening to Haru’s orders made him feel nice.

Haru resumed cooking. After several minutes of total concentration, Haru suddenly realized how hard he'd been concentrating. Is he really that eager to please Daisuke?

The idea seems absurd and silly, so Haru didn’t dwell on it for long.

In the end, the food was ready to be served. Haru made Daisuke set their table, which the billionaire obediently followed.

“Thanks for the food.” They both blessed, and began eating.

Haru’s not a serious chef, nor is he very professional. However, his heart feels big and proud when he sees Kambe Daisuke enjoying his food to the point of eating quicker and quicker, just to get more food.

Being aware of Daisuke’s rich-people-food habits, it made Haru swell with pride seeing his creation so well-received.

Throughout the dinner, Haru made sure to crack jokes and tell short stories- maybe ask some questions here and then. Slowly, Daisuke was coaxed out of his shell, this shell that seems to wall himself in no matter how hard Haru tries to break it down. It always seems to rebuild too quickly.

Haru shoved rice in his mouth quickly. Just what was that weird observation? Why is he so worried about Daisuke and his stupid walls?

Daisuke looked up and saw Haru’s golden-brown eyes quivering in conflict. Assuming that the older man ran out of stories, Daisuke begin to tell his own wild stories (just Suzue being overly attached).

It seems his stories worked (or maybe Haru likes listening about Suzue, Daisuke unpleasantly theorized) because the conflicted expression went away and Haru’s back to laughing and grinning in his carefree manner.

The food was gone quickly, but neither men cared. Their dirty plates set aside, they talked and talked and talked.

Sure they would hate each other when they first met, it’s quite confusing but maybe nice that the two are suddenly bonding together. Tonight isn’t the first either.

I hope it’s not the last, either.

Meanwhile, with Suzue:

“He stormed off again!” Suzue cried, staring at the various surveillance camera screens before her. She clicked away, looking at every screen carefully, and cried when she couldn't find Daisuke’s face anywhere.

“And he left everything here again!” Suzue complained, more to herself. She frantically switched screens once more. “No money, no HEUSC, no nothing! What if something happens? I’ll never forgive myself… Oh, where could he have gone?!”

“Perhaps he’s with Haru again,” her grandmother suggested.

“Oh!” Suzue perked up instantly. “Haru! Of course!”

She clicked away, typed some things, and suddenly a view of Haru’s apartment showed up on the screen.

“I can’t get the insides… so I’ll just see from outside… maybe wind back a few hours ago.” Suzue muttered to herself.

The (human) butler and grandmother shared concerned looks with each other. Maybe Suzue’s a little too obsessed with her brother…

“Oh, there he is!” Suzue pointed at a blob happily. “I can tell right away because of this pixel’s coloration next to this pixel! It has to be him!”

Definitely too obsessed.

Daisuke sneezed.

“Oi, are you sick?” Haru immediately asked over his shoulder, straining to see as best as he can with his body forward and head stretched.

“I don’t think so,” Daisuke sniffed. He feels as if someone’s talking about him, and his eyes suddenly narrowed. “Suzue,” he muttered.

“What?”

“...Nothing. Do you have spare clothes?”

“Yeah,” Haru nodded, “just check my closet or something. You’re welcome to take another shower. Just don’t make a mess, got it?”

“Right.” Daisuke headed towards Haru’s bedroom, and felt his heart beating just a tad bit faster. Is he excited? Why is he excited? It’s just Haru’s room… then again, he never stepped foot inside Haru’s room.

Perhaps his room will tell secrets Haru wouldn’t dare say out loud. Maybe it’ll hint at any hobbies or interests. Or show a piece of the past that HEUSC can’t pull up.

Daisuke shook his head and tried to clear his thoughts. Or maybe Haru’s room will be normal.

And indeed it was. The bed was pushed to the corner and kept clean and tidy. There was a huge desk on the other side and it contains rather neat papers and folders. Pencils, pens, sticky notes, and pictures were scattered across as if Haru was frantically trying to solve a case by himself. Again.

Daisuke smirked to himself, feeling some sort of fondness, when he saw the file cabinet filled to the brim with important work intel. Of course Haru would have something like that.

Daisuke headed towards the closet, picked out a random outfit, and then walked to the bathroom. It was very tiny and rather confusing to work, but Daiuske feels some sort of closeness with Haru every time he uses commoner things.

Water splashed on Daisuke’s face and he let go of the impassive, stoic expression he maintained the entire day. He didn’t smirk teasingly either. Instead, he smiled a small smile.

Haru surely is interesting.

When Daisuke comes out the restroom wearing Haru’s baggy hoodie (this time, it’s a soft yellow with an outline of the sun in the middle. Daisuke likes the simple design), his pants, and slippers.

With his hair down, Daisuke’s vision is sometimes suddenly obstructed by the occasional piece of hair falling.

“Took your time in there,” Haru teased the younger man from his seat. He pat the empty ground next to him. “C’mere, I’m watching a movie.”

Daisuke sat down and stared at the TV, judging the movie silently in his head. It was utterly boring and the plot was hideous. It’s weak and not an ounce of character development showed up.

Daisuke looked to the side and noted Haru’s sparkling eyes as he leaned forward, hugging his knees, and with an excited flush on his face.

That is absolutely adorable, Daisuke thought.
