THE HUNGER FOR KNOWLEDGE AND POWER
-You, ¥￦§&€£, known as Merlin, have committed a grave sin. Your hunger for knowledge and power has condemned your world. Your sin is one that you must pay and pain will be your teacher. Therefore, you will be born under the Sun, the death that you carry in your hands, and you will live being only a prisoner in your own body, so that you suffer. Your punishment is to fall, and drag innocents with you for your sin, your hunger for knowledge and power. So I have said, and so it will be done.
Merlin only felt her world darken at the words of that divine being, a being much more powerful than Chaos.
A being who was punishing her for bringing her world to destruction for her sin.
Her hunger for knowledge and power.
When he was born into this new world, his name was Wen Zui.
Merlin wanted to laugh and cry at the irony that his name meant 'sin'.
Oh, that being wanted her, him, not to forget his sin. That he did not forget the consequences of it.
So Merlin was relieved when she was given a courtesy name.
From that day on, the name Zui was never pronounced again and the world only knew Wen Ruohan.
Soon after, when she couldn't stop the desire to murder her father to take power, a desire that is wasn't hers, Merlin understood.
She, he, could only be a spectator and see how such actions and thoughts would lead to his death.
Her punishment was for her sin to take over her body. Her vilest emotions will rule her life and she won't be able to do anything.

Obviously everyone, including her father, who was the leader, wanted to exploit her power and have Merlin study and train as much as she could to make her powerful.

A girl thirsty for love and with the desire to have fun. She wanted to be loved by her father. But he only gave her books to read, tests to do and a lot of pressure.
Merlin felt that she was in a prison.
Wen Ruohan ordered that all the scrolls be given to him. Each place he conquered will give its knowledge to the leader.

Her magic was so powerful that both sides wanted her on their sides. They knew that her power could tip the balance of the war. Her power could decide who would win the Holy War.
Belialuin clearly objected. They were convinced that she lived with them, therefore, she and her power were their property.

So will he be satiated when he conquer the four sects and have them under the rule of the sun?

So why did Escanor fall?

She could do a lot damage and her Infinity made her unstoppable.
She was as feared as she was respected.
And no one could compel her to respect. And she didn't. Merlin respected no one.
Even the goddesses and demons wanted her on their side.
Still, her sin was stronger. Gluttony is her sin because she always wants more. More and more. And she cannot satiate that voracious hunger for knowledge and power.
Merlin remembered both lives.
Time made her weak for love and at the same time made her strong by her magic.
She has a habit of falling in love with men who are extremely far from her. For men who are impossible.
She has the habit of always wanting to get stronger. She always wanted to improve her magic. She wanted to know more spells. She wanted to know and invent new things.
Merlin, for the first time, fell to her knees.
The strength of her soul and her immortal magic have sealed her destiny for being the daughter of Belial.
Because it all started with her immortal magic. It all started because they didn't give her love in Belialuin. It all started at birth.
Fate had already marked a sequence and an end.
And the end was sad.

Merlin had only one regret.
She regrets being born.
Could they give her another chance?
Merlin wanted to change Wen Ruohan's fate. This time, she wanted to be in charge of her body. This time, her sin was not going to control her.
So, divine being who punished me, am I worthy now to take control of my new body? Of being Wen Ruohan untethered?
