Daenerys Targaryen.
Daenerys looked down from the small window in her chambers as she caressed the small bump in stomach. Winterfell was as beautiful as Jon had described it during their time together at the boat. A beautiful land filled with cold and ungrateful people. Her thoughts were interrupted by a soft knock in the door.
"Come in."She called as the door opened revealing her trusted friend Missandei of Naath closely followed by Lord Gendry. Her friend walked to her before softly introducing the new lord . “Lord Gendry Baratheon,of Storm's End. Lord Paramount of the Stormlands Warden of the South, your Grace. ”
Daenerys smiled at her friend before motions her towards the empty table covered in parchments and books.
“"I hope you had a good night , Lord Gendry. How do you fare so far?” Daenerys wondered.
"Very well, Your Grace! I still can't believe you named Lord of Storm's End, considering what my father did to your family … "
"Your father's sins are not yours to pay, Lord Gendry, I am not the type of ruler judyiny the children from their parents' sins, I would be a hypocrite if I did. There was a time when house Targaryen and house Baratheons were allies, when they shared blood… currently, you are one of the last ones who I share blood with, so fear not, my lord. I will do you no harm. In fact, I have called you here to make a proposal."
The poor man seems more confused than he was when he entered the Queen’s chambers. "What kind of proposal?"
"I’m with child,a child I thought impossible to grow within my womb. A child that will not live long enough to see their first name day if something happens to me. As a Queen I have a target on my back. A target that will grow when people discover there is a male heir to the Iron Throne. Before the battle Brandon Stark told Jon that his mother was Lyanna Stark and his father was my brother Rhaegar. The rebellion was built on a lie . Jon is telling his sisters the truth about his heritage... as soon as the word spreads people will want me dead... I fear for my life and.... my child’s life...if something happens to me please take care of my child... I know I'm asking too much of you since we barely know each other but please I hear about the massacre of Robert’s bastards when Joffrey became king. I don't want my child to have the same life I had. Hiding, looking above their shoulders, begging for food, sleeping in the streets and starving.So I ask you Lord Gendry of House Baratheon? Will you protect my child as if it was your own? Will you be their reagent until they become of age?"
Gendry swallowed as he listened to the Queen. His childhood had been just like she described no child no matter who his parents were , deserved that. He bowed on one knee in front of her. "I accept, Your Grace. I will do my best to protect your child. I promise, I won't let you down
"I know you won't. From today, you will receive all the education a proper Lord should have, here, with Missandei. You will also be taught about the histories of all the great Houses of Westeros, languages, I hope you don't mind but I asked Ser Davos to send a raven to the Stormlands. They answered immediately, Lord Balon Swann offered his daughter’s hand in marriage."
"What do you mean, Your Grace?"
"Lord Swann made no secret of his ambitions to sell his daughter to a powerful lord. In normal circumstances I would refuse that proposition but we need them. I hear Lady Alyssa is a beautiful girl with a good heart. ”Daenerys sighed "I know you desire another but…”
“ I asked Arya to marry me last night... during the feast” Gendry flushed. "She says she’s no lady… Arya .. she is … different from the girl I met years ago…cold… emotionless…”
"I fear Arya Stark joined the Faceless Men during her time in Braavos and if she did then she’s beyond saving. "
