Vignettes from a magic shop

Notes:

Last summer, my friend I did a bunch of writing prompts with the theme of being set in a magic shop. Then like a dummy, I let it sit on my computer for a whole year and didn't do anything with it. But now, here I am I'm finally doing something with it!

I hope you enjoy reading these, let me know what you think!

Chapter 1: “Looks like we’ll be stuck here for a while”

Chapter Text

“Looks like we’ll be stuck here for a while,” Taehyung said resigned, finally giving up on trying to wiggle his way out.

“Don’t say that,” Hoseok scolded. “I’m sure Betilda will be good, and let us go .”

Betilda, being the wisterias that grew at the front of the shop, had promptly wrapped themselves around the pair as they were trying to go through the front door as they returned from their short trip.

“Come on Betilda,” Hoseok cooed. “I bet you’ve been so good when we’ve been gone. You’ve missed us haven’t you.”

Taehyung sighed. “If this is how you react from us being gone for just two days I would hate to see what you’ll do when we’re gone longer.”

Betilda wrapped themselves tighter around the pair.

“Taehyung!”

“Sorry.” Taehyung apologized. “I missed you too Betilda.”

“I also miss our friends,” Hoseok said, trying again to gently wiggle free. “And all the other plants. Think about how they feel not getting to see us. Can’t we go say hello to them? I promise we’ll come back out to spend time with you. ”

The wisterias didn’t have faces, but if they did they would definitely be pouting.

Hoseok opened his mouth to continue trying to convince the wisterias to let them go when the front door burst open.

“YOU’RE BACK!” Jungkook exclaimed bursting through the door. Upon seeing the wrapped up pair his face of excitement turned into confusion. “Wait, what?"

Jimin was the next to walk out the door and burst into laughter upon seeing his two returning friends stuck to the spot by their very own clingy plant.

“It’s not funny,” Taehyung whined. “Betilda, please let us go. I want to give Jimin a smack for laughing at us.”

“I’ll do it,” Jungkook exclaimed, advancing towards Jimin.

With a squeak of fear, Jimin bolted back into the shop, Jungkook following closely behind him.

“So rude,” Hoseok mumbled. “They didn’t even try to get us out.” Hoseok turned his attention back towards the plant. “Betilda, I’m going to count to five, and then you’ll let us go, okay. One...”

“You know that won’t work hyung,” Taehyung said. “You suck at being stern with them.”

“Two,” Hoseok continued, but with a lot less conviction in his voice.

He was interrupted from his countdown. Which was probably good because of the very high chance that Betilda would continue to ignore Hoseok’s firm countdown and continue to squeeze the pair of green witches tight. “Looks like someone’s been missed,” Yoongi said walking through the door. “Welcome back.”

Hoseok gave a rueful smile. “You would think that we were gone for months not two days.”

“Two very long days,” Taehyung whined.

Yoongi let out a small chuckle. “Can’t you, I don’t know, make the plant let go. It’s kind of what you two do.”

Hoseok frowned. “Betilda is just being a tad bit stubborn right now.”

“More like a pain in my ass,” Taehyung muttered.

“Couldn’t you, you know, just force yourself out,” Yoongi asked. “You’re probably stronger than the wisterias.”

There were twin looks of horror.

“WHY WOULD YOU EVEN SUGGEST THAT!”

“THAT MIGHT HURT THEM!”

Yoongi held up his hands and instinctively took a few steps from the tied-up pair. “It was just a suggestion.

“Also, I’m slightly very offended at the implication that I wouldn’t be stronger than Betilda,” Hoseok frowned. “Probably stronger? I’m definitely stronger. I’ll have you know I work out.”

“Whether or not I’m stronger than Betilda is hit or miss,” Taehyung shrugged. “They're a strong little thing, and working out is for losers.”

“Well, this loser can easily kick your-“

“I thought I heard yelling,” Seokjin poked his head out of the shop’s door. “Oh hey guys, welcome back.” Without waiting for a reply Seokjin turned to Yoongi. “It’s your turn to set the table tonight. You’re not weaselling your way out of it again.”

A smirk grew on Yoongi’s face. “You got to admit though, it was funny.

Seokjin rolled his eyes. “In hindsight, yes. But you literally turning into a weasel to get out of setting the table and making me do it was definitely not funny at the moment.” Seokjin’s head disappeared back inside with a “dinner is ready in ten,” called out behind him.

Yoongi looked back at the stuck pair. “That’s my cue to leave. I think Seokjin would actually go through with his threat of cursing me to throw up glitter if I make him set the table when it’s my turn again, and that stuff gets everywhere.” Yoongi turned towards the door but stopped when he heard the shouts of indignation.

“You’re just going to leave us?” Hoseok whined.

Yoongi shrugged. “I would offer to get the gardening shears, but I don’t have to be Jimin to know how that suggestion would go. Come join us when you’re free.” And with that Yoongi joined the rest inside.

The two green witches shared a glance.

“Betilda,” Hoseok said in his sweetest voice. “Would you please let us go?”

“Pretty please!” Taehyung chimed in.

There was a moment where they thought Betilda would actually do it. The vines wrapped around them loosened slightly, then proceeded to wrap themselves around the pair even tighter.

“Looks like we’ll be stuck here for a while,” Taehyung repeated.

Hoseok gave a halfhearted wiggle, then let out a sigh, slumping in defeat. “Yeah, we’ll be here a while.”
