The battle was over.
Finally, they’d defeated All For One permanently, ending the miserable cycle that had plagued humanity for so long.
But at what cost?
Bakugo sat in the middle of the battlefield, cradling Midoriya in his arms, whispering reassurance that he would be fine. That they would go home today. He was gonna make katsudon tonight, Midoriya’s favorite. They were gonna relax and celebrate together.
But Midoriya simply looked at him, eyes full of tears and genuine fondness. With every statement he shook his head sadly, feeling the life pouring out of him. He wouldn’t survive. He couldn’t.
“Hey, Kacchan?”
“Hm?”
“I’m gonna miss you.”
Bakugo smiles weakly before brushing some of the hair and dirt out of his eyes.
“Nah. You’ll be in heaven, idiot. You won’t remember me.”
Even in his miserable state, Midoriya scrunched his nose in distaste.
“Sounds like hell to me.”
At that, Bakugo managed a light laugh, tears slipping down his cheeks.
“Keep being a hero, Kacchan. I’ll see you again. But not too soon, you hear?”
He nodded, pulling him closer. Although he knew that it wasn’t possible, he was begging for Midoriya to live. Somehow. God, he couldn’t accept that such a wonderful person was dying in such a miserable way.
“Please don’t leave me, Deku.”
But as the boy in his arms stilled, he knew he already had.
