Chapter Text
”Just stay here.”
The way Hikari had gripped his wrist had surprised Right, holding on to it far longer than he had needed to. The strength used to pull Right back to his side hadn’t surprised the team’s leader though. He knew Hikari was strong, more so than him in some ways. Many ways. It was mostly the small declarations, Hikari’s firm insistence that instead of helping Mio that Right remain at his side, that surprised Right. Right watched as Wagon ushered everyone off the train, not seeming to even notice that he was not among them. Maybe one more person would be too many. Right was sure, as he crouched beside the booth where Hikari sat, that he would have gotten in the way anyway.
"Finally." Hikari breathed out a soft sigh, still tightly holding Right’s wrist so he wouldn’t go. Right looked up at Hikari, confused, and then finally stood. Hikari gave that little smile, the most genuine smile Right knew, and reached out to wrap an arm around Right’s waist, tugging him down into the booth beside him before reaching over to play with Right’s tie, seeming deeply amused by it.
"Finally what?" Right asked, nearly in protest. He was still a little disappointed he would be missing the fake date. It looked like it would be pretty funny.
Hikari shifted to meet Right’s eyes, and the sudden seriousness in them caught Right off guard again. What had gotten into Hikari? “We barely get any time alone together like this.” Hikari said softly, leaning in a bit to touch his lips momentarily to Right’s, “Everyone is always here, so we can’t ever get close like this. Even with our room, we have to share it with Tokatti… And Wagon almost never leaves.”
Right blinked, surprised that this was something that bothered Hikari. They had decided to be boyfriends a while back, which he himself had instigated in another rare moment in which the two had been alone. Mio and Kagura had been off shopping, and Tokatti had insisted on training with Akira that day, so it had just been he and Hikari over lunch. Right had, on a whim, asked if there was anyone that Hikari liked. Hikari had denied anything, even after Right had started asking the names of their friends, though he left his own name out, not even considering that Hikari might have some affection for him. Beyond that the discussion had turned to kissing and what it might be like. Right had then caught Hikari off guard with the suggestion that they kiss then and there, just to see what it was like. Right smiled at the memory of how flustered Hikari had become at the suggestion and his half-hearted protests before giving in. Their first kiss had been short and gentle, just like the kiss they had just shared in the booth of the dining car. The second, immediately after, had been a little longer and more exploratory. From there, they decided to take it day by day and see how it all worked out.
Right leaned over, pressing himself against Hikari’s side with a smile as he rest his head on his reliable boyfriend’s shoulder. “Does it really bother you?” Right’s large, innocent eyes fixed on Hikari’s face, “Does it bother you that we can’t kiss more often?” He knew Hikari would be too embarrassed to kiss in front of the others. Usually the most they got was when Tokatti went to sleep first or if he spent the night in Build Ressha after training with Akira and Right was able to sneak into Hikari’s bed for a while to be close to him, allowing them to sneak little kisses when no one else was around. It was always just that, closeness and kissing. The idea of more had always been a bit weird for both of them, and the revelation that they were, in many ways, still children, killed the idea all together. For now, this was more than enough for them both when they were able to get it. Right reached over to take Hikari’s hand, “I can ask Tokatti to stay with Akira if you want more time.”
Hikari gave Right that same gentle smile and squeezed his hand, leaning over for another kiss. They had really gotten the hang of it by now. “After this, Tokatti might need some time away from Akira.” Hikari looked over his shoulder toward the closed door, sympathizing with their awkward friend. He had his feelings for both Mio and Akira to deal with… If only the dork would sit and talk to one or both of them about it.
Right looked toward the door as well, not understanding why they were looking at it, or why Tokatti couldn’t spend the night in Build Ressha after this. He squeezed Hikari’s hand tightly. “T-Then we just have to make the most of right now!!” Right beamed and kissed Hikari, cuddling up to him as He felt Hikari’s arms wrap around his waist. They moved so Hikari could lean back against the wall of the dining car, Right in his lap as they made themselves comfortable.
"You look good in those clothes." Hikari said between the small sweet kisses that were a staple of their time alone together. The first word that came to mind was "sexy", which Hikari truly felt Right was in that black suit, but that was too weird to say. "You look handsome." Yeah, that sounded better. It was so weird to think of Right in an… "adult" way. Maybe that was a sign of how he had been changing from being a ToQger. He couldn’t help it though. The feeling was there.
"You think?" Right beamed, pulling back a bit to look at himself in the suit Wagon had given him. He leaned in to wrap his arms around Hikari’s neck and smiled, "There was a suit for you too, you know. I wanted to see you wear it. Someone as handsome as Hikari would look amazing in something like that." Right couldn’t help but laugh at the color that rose in Hikari’s cheeks, then happily kissed his face. "Maybe next time? For me?"
"Maybe next time." Hikari agreed, pulling Right close again.
