Chapter Text
It was a quiet night. Daisuke was in front of his study table, diligently doing his homework and other tasks that weren’t due until next week. He always liked being ahead of his class, that’s just how he is as a person. He was organized and meticulous when it comes to a lot of things, because that’s what people expect of him as the heir of Kambe Corporations. He couldn’t make a single mistake.
The buzzing of his phone took him out of his focus. He looked at the clock on his bedside table. It was 22:03. He had been studying for 3 hours straight now. It wouldn’t hurt to take a little break, he thought.
He stretched his limbs, then he reached for his phone. He didn’t really have many friends, so it was a bit perplexing for him to receive text messages.
He opened the message and furiously blushed at what he read. It was a simple Hey, but his heart beat erratically against his chest, seeing that the message was from Haru Katou, whom he have had a crush on since sophomore year when they had been paired up to give out flyers for their batch booth during the campus foundation week. They didn’t really speak to each other that time, for Haru Katou had a lot of friends who immediately dragged him around campus to help him out.
Daisuke have had his number saved in case he would need any help during the fair, but he knew that it was just an excuse because he had already taken a liking on Haru. But why would he text Daisuke now?
As he was about to type a reply, he received another message from Haru. Let’s go on a date.
His eyes widened, and a small scream slipped past his lips. He felt like throwing his phone against the wall and passing out afterwards, but he wanted to reply first before anything else. After all, opportunities like this don’t really come as easily to him as you might think.
Haru Katou was just watching his roommate, Shinnosuke Kamei, try to drunkenly lick his elbow as a dare. He bursted out laughing when Kamei finally gave up, saying he’ll just lick Haru’s instead. He wasn’t really drunk yet unlike his roommate who probably has the worst alcohol tolerance ever.
“Hey—hey, Haru. Y-You do my dare,” Kamei said in between hiccups. Haru got up to take the rest of the soju back to the fridge. He knew he shouldn’t let Kamei drink another glass for they still have classes the next morning.
“Okay, but this is the last one though. What’s the dare?” He asked when he got back to his seat.
“I dare you,” Kamei giggled, trying hard to finish his dare, “to randomly message someone and say let’s go out on a date yoo.”
“You’re so stupid.” Haru laughed at his friend, but he did it anyway. He planned on going for a random number, but his eyes saw Daisuke Kambe’s name saved on his contact list. He was the quiet, rich guy that he met on his sophomore year. He planned on talking to him during the time when they gave out flyers, but he never really got the chance to because Haru’s friends came to help him out. Daisuke piqued his interest though. He saw him around campus alone, and he always wanted to ask how he was doing, if only shyness never took over.
He tapped on Daisuke’s contact number to send a message. He instinctively sent Hey instead of what he and Kamei agreed upon. Was it really random if he had always wanted to message Daisuke?
“Oy, Haru! Let me see!” Kamei screeched when he saw Haru typing on his phone. He immediately looked at the message instead of the recipient, then he smacked Haru on the head, seeing that he didn’t go through with the dare. “Say let’s go on a date, stupid.”
So Haru reluctantly did. He didn’t know why he felt so nervous about it. He was absentmindedly tapping his foot, anxiously waiting for rich boy’s response.
A few minutes passed by, when Haru thought he wouldn’t be receiving any replies, his phone buzzed. He hurriedly opened it to check, and sure enough, it was a reply from Daisuke. Sure, was all it said, but he secretly looked forward to it.
He was about to tell Kamei about it, but the guy was already sleeping, passed out on the floor. He let out a quiet laugh, as if someone was tickling his sides.
Haru went to lay on his bed, a smile was making his cheeks hurt, but he couldn’t help it. He felt like he was back in middle school, when girls lined up to give him Valentine’s Day chocolates. It was the same jittery feeling as the one he had when he went on his first date. Haru has never dated a guy before, and he didn’t think that he would be this excited to look forward on one.
He took a deep breath to calm his nerves before replying, I’ll see you tomorrow after class then.
His date with rich boy Daisuke Kambe was the only thing in his mind as he fell asleep.
