Work Text:
They’d talk about it before, the whole soulmate thing. Yoongi’s soulmate died before they could ever meet. The red string disappearing from his finger one night while he slept. He remembered the pain his body went through from it, having to spend three days in the hospital. The doctors said he’d been “lucky” to survive, that it would’ve been worse had he met his soulmate.
Taehyung, however, knew his soulmate and found him at an early age. Him and Jimin had met in school, and have been inseparable since. The strange thing is, they weren't dating. Yoongi couldn’t believe his ears, when he was on his first date with Taehyung.
“So…you know your soulmate but you aren't together?” Yoongi says for what seems like the 50th time.
Taehyung nods, “I’m not gonna lie and say we didn’t try or that I didn’t loose my virginity to him, but we’re just friends.”
“How can that even happen?” Yoongi asks.
Taehyung shrugs, “I don’t know. As friends we’re amazing and I love him, he’s my soulmate…but romantically…I can’t be with him like that. We tried to make it work..but it shouldn’t have been as hard as it was. My parents and his always said loving each other should be easy as breathing, but with Jimin it was like breathing with a pillow on my face. I know it’s hard to understand, but I promise nothing is happening between me and Jimin.”
**
Four years later and Yoongi still can’t stand Jimin. It’s not that he’s a bad person, or is mean to him, quite the opposite really. Jimin is kind and always willing to help. Yoongi sees Jimin just as much as he sees Taehyung. They’re always together, and after constant fights about it with Taehyung, Yoongi’s given up trying to get Jimin away. The sleepovers are probably the worst because Yoongi spends the night alone in bed. Yoongi spends a lot of nights alone in the bed they bought together. Their breakfast is for three, sometimes their lunches and dinners.
They only time Yoongi gets Taehyung to himself is when Jimin is working late at night. Even then, Jimin works closer to their home than his own, so he spends the night. While looking for a home together, one of Taehyung’s requirements was a two bedroom apartment. Yoongi didn’t understand why Jimin had to have a room in their home, but their argument only ended in Yoongi finding a house with two bedrooms.
Jimin dated, and that was the time Yoongi loved because he got Taehyung to himself more. Jimin wouldn’t spend the nights over, and Yoongi gets to enjoy life with Taehyung. But, Jimin’s relationships never seem to last more than a couple of months, then they’re back into the same cycle. Yoongi’s heart dropped every time Jimin came over telling Taehyung his relationship was over. Yoongi would go into the bedroom telling them he’ll give them privacy, but secretly tried hard not to cry.
**
Today is their anniversary and it came on a Friday. Yoongi had spent the afternoon planning their night together. He was going to take Taehyung to a museum that was doing a special exhibit on painters throughout the years, then they would have dinner in the museum’s restaurant, after they would walk around the gardens with their glasses of wine enjoying the summer breeze before heading home.
However all his plans fall apart the moment he enters the apartment. Jimin is there, no surprise, but Taehyung has his keys and wallet in his hand, all dressed.
“Hyung! You’re back early. I was about to text you,” Taehyung says as he kisses Yoongi’s cheek. “Jimin got tickets for the museum down town. They have an exhibit about all these artists, so we were gonna go.”
“Would you like to join?” Jimin asks shyly, knowing Yoongi wasn’t fond of him. “The tickets are also being sold at the entrance.”
Yoongi shakes his head, “No. I thought you were dating someone.”
“Hyung! Don’t talk about it!” Taehyung shushes him.
“Ah..we broke up last night,” Jimin explains softly.
“That explains why you’re taking Taehyung away,” Yoongi spits.
“Yoongi hyung! Stop!” Taehyung scolds. “Don’t start this.”
“Yeah, yeah. Just go,” Yoongi waves them off.
“Why are you being so rude?” Taehyung huffs.
“No reason. See you later,” Yoongi says as he heads up the stairs.
Once in the bedroom, he removes his jacket, throwing in on the bed.
“What is your problem? Jimin was being nice. Why are you always so mean to him? I’m getting really tired of you being hostile towards him,” Taehyung says annoyed, with his hands on his hips.
“Yeah? Well I’m getting tired of him taking you from me,” Yoongi fights back.
“He is not taking me away! You always say that! It’s not true!”
“Oh it isn’t?” Yoongi asks sarcastically. “Because it seems to me you were so busy comforting him than checking the fucking calendar! You know what today is?”
“Friday.” Taehyung says confused.
Yoongi runs a hand through his hair, “It’s our 4 year anniversary Taehyung!”
The realization settles in Taehyung’s eyes, making them widen, “Hyung-“
“No! Just go out with Jimin,” Yoongi interrupts him.
“We can celebrate tomorrow-“
“No! Tomorrow-fuck Taehyung! Why is it that Jimin comes first? He’s always before me! Last year I planned a weekend for us together and then comes Jimin with his fucking ‘best friend get away’ asking me if I would like to join. Year before that he broke up with that one fucker and spent the night over eating the food I made for us. Now this? You said you were only friends so why is it that he gets all your attention while I have to beg for it!” Yoongi fumes.
Before Taehyung can say anything a soft knock comes from the door. Jimin stands there apologetically.
“I’m sorry for the trouble I’ve caused. Taehyung we can always go tomorrow. The exhibition will be here all weekend,” Jimin speaks softly.
“Thank you Jiminie. That’s very kind of-“
“There’s no point,” Yoongi says as he digs into his pocket throwing the tickets in the floor. “Just go.”
Taehyung stares at the tickets on the ground, “Hyung-“
“No. Go.”
Taehyung takes a step towards Yoongi, “can we just talk about-“
“Talk about what Taehyung?! It doesn’t matter anymore! You forgot and you were gonna go out with Jimin, so go out! Nothing you say is gonna make me feel better so just go!” Yoongi turns to the bathroom opening the door. “And since Jimin was gonna spend the night, go to his house.”
Young shuts the bathroom door behind him, then goes to turn the shower on. He removes his clothes and steps inside. The water is hitting him but Yoongi doesn’t feel it.
When he gets out of the shower and opens the door, Taehyung is no where in sight. Yoongi sighs slightly disappointed that Taehyung didn’t stay, but not surprised since he knows Yoongi was serious. Yoongi lays down on the bed, feeling exhausted from the argument. He stares at the clock watching the time go by. Part of him hopes Taehyung will show up, but the logical side of him knows he won’t.
Yoongi cries himself to sleep.
**
When Taehyung comes back to the apartment and 6 in the morning, Yoongi has his things in his hands.
“W-what are you doing?” Taehyung whispers.
“I can’t do this anymore,” Yoongi whispers back. “I’m leaving.”
Taehyung’s tears fall rapidly down his face, “Please don’t do this! Don’t leave! I don’t know why you have to leave after an argument.”
Yoongi sighs, “An argument? Taehyung…we’ve had the same argument for years now. You don’t understand why I’m annoyed, why I hate having Jimin here-“
“No I don’t!” Taehyung interrupts. “You said you were okay with mine and Jimin’s friendship, so I don’t understand why-“
“Because Taehyung!” Yoongi shouts. “When was the last time we spent the day just the two of us? The last time we went on a date? The last time we were in this house alone? Did shopping? Slept in the same bed? When was the last time you cooked for me? Took me out? Made me cookies? Took care of me when I was sick? Bought clothes for me? When was the last time we slept together?”
Taehyung stays silent.
“The only time we’re together is when Jimin dates someone and even then it’s always ‘Jimin and his boyfriend did that. Jimin went here, Jimin went there.’ Jimin, Jimin, Jimin! That’s all I hear! I’m done with it. I’ve held in my anger and frustration and my jealously in for too long,” Yoongi shakes his head, trying hard not to let the tears in his eyes fall.
“You should’ve told me-“
“Told you? Every time I do you get mad. ‘Jimin is my soulmate. Jimin doesn’t do anything wrong. Why can’t you just like him.’ It’s always the same argument. When it comes to Jimin you refuse to listen to anything bad about him. I could never tell you what bothered me because you just shut down and nothing changed,” Yoongi huffs annoyed.
“He’s my soulmate! You wouldn’t know what is like-“ Taehyung eyes widen, realizing what he’s said.
Yoongi shakes his head, his tears finally falling. He takes his things and moves around Taehyung to get to the front door.
Taehyung grabs his arm, “Hyung. I- I didn’t mean it like that. Please.”
Yoongi shakes his head, “No you’re right. I wouldn’t know what it’s like. And maybe…I should find someone who also doesn’t know.”
Taehyung cries as he holds onto Yoongi’s hand, “Please don’t go. Please don’t.”
Yoongi shakes his head, “I don’t want to stay. I’ve stayed for too long and damaged myself. I can’t do it anymore.”
Yoongi shrugs his hand away from Taehyung, walking away. He can hear Taehyung’s cries and pleases, but he refuses to turn back, heart breaking in the process.
**
One week later
Even though he didn’t spend three days in the hospital, his heart did hurt. Every once in a while his heart would contract painfully, the pain making him breathless for a moment before fading away. Yoongi threw himself into his work, leaving late at night before doing it again the next day. On his days off, he would cry until he passed out. It worried his friend Namjoon and his partner, who had let him stay in their spare room for the time being.
On the 8th day when he get’s some tea, Jin is there silently watching him.
“Would you like something to eat? My grandmother used to make this rice porridge that helped me when I was- hey, why are you crying? I’m sorry…did I say something?” Jin says rushing over to Yoongi’s side, rubbing his back.
“Taehyung never made me food because he couldn’t cook well, but it’s the thought that counts. He always tried for Jimin though,” Yoongi cries.
“Oh sweetie. I’m so sorry,” Jin says continuing to rub his back.
Yoongi stays there for what seems like hours, just crying.
**
Yoongi is back in his office, drinking a herbal tea for the cold he’s caught. The phone on his desk rings, the receptionist calling him.
“Sir, someone is here to see you,” she says.
“Send them in,” Yoongi says before hanging up.
There’s a knock on his door, making Yoongi rolls his eyes, knowing the knock.
“Why are you here,” Yoongi says bluntly.
“I wanted to talk to you,” Jimin says softly.
“I don’t wanna hear it.”
“Why did you tell security to not let Taehyung in? He’s been trying for days to see you, and you’ve blocked his number.”
“I don’t want to see him, or talk to him.”
Jimin sighs sadly, “don’t you care about-“
“Don’t!” Yoongi says threw clenches teeth, his eyes watering. “Don’t you dare ask me that. If I see him I’ll break, and I’ll take him back.”
“Don’t you want him back?” Jimin argues.
“For what? So nothing changes? So I’ll always come second? I’ve held it all in for 4 years Jimin! Do you know what that’s like? To watch the person you love put you second to someone else? To have to reschedule everything I have planned because he already has plans? I couldn’t even plan a surprise for him because you were always in the way!” Yoongi clenches his teeth. “You know he once asked me why I never did something to surprise him? He loves surprises and Jiminie knows that. But the times I do it was always ‘Aw! I’m sorry, you should have told me I already have plans with Jiminie, but we can do it tomorrow’. It’s always tomorrow when it comes to me.”
Jimin stays silent, looking down at the ground.
“He said dating you was like breathing with a pillow on his face, but the way I see it all you have to do is kiss and you’ll be dating. Get out. I’m done with you.” Yoongi says.
“Done with me? You didn’t even know me?” Jimin says.
“Dating Taehyung was like dating you too. He was a packaged deal that I didn’t know about. So yeah, in a way I’m breaking up with you too. Get out. Don’t come back, you’re not welcomed here anymore,” Yoongi says as he types on his computer.
Jimin reaches into his gym bag, pulling out a smalll bag with cookies, “Taehyung asked me to bring these. I’ll leave.”
After Jimin is gone, Yoongi takes the bag ripping the note off.
Hyung,
I know it might be pointless to make cookies for you now after everything. They might not even be edible. I spent two hours trying to make them. I had more but they were burnt. I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry. If this truly is the end for us, then I hope you find the happiness you deserve. Please take care of yourself, don’t work too hard. Don’t forget to drink the herbal tea when you’re stressed. I’m so sorry.
-Tae
Yoongi wipes his tears away, folding the note and sticking it in his desk. He takes a cookie, cautiously taking a bite out of it. He shakes his head as he spits it out, laughing softly to himself at the horrible taste. He sees the cookie down, his heart hurting. He turns back to the computer, getting back to his work.

Three months later
Time didn’t seem to heal all wounds, just numb them, that’s how Yoongi felels. He’s numb. After moving out of Namjoon’s home and into a small apartment, he thought things would get better, and they did, but the emptiness was still in his heart. All the hours he’d put into his job worked out well for him, he was promoted and was being paid very well. He now had less work to do, which meant more time to think.
On the weekends, he goes to different restaurants to try new things. This Friday night he’s trying a new restaurant that opened up a few months ago. Jin loved the place and him constantly talking about the food made him crave it.
He walks into the building, greeting the hostess, saying he’s here alone. On the way to his table he bumps into someone coming from around the corner.
“Oh I’m so sorry,” the man says.
“It’s fine. You couldn’t have known I was there,” Yoongi says.
“Yoongi?” Someone says from behind the man.
Yoongi looks behind him to see Jimin.
“Oh, Jimin. Hi,” Yoongi says awkwardly.
“H-how have you been?” Jimin asks.
“I’ve been doing okay,” Yoongi answers with a shrug. “How ‘bout you?”
Jimin hesitates before answering, “I’m good. This…this is Jungkook, my boyfriend.”
Jimin rubs his arm, looking uncomfortable before adding, “My soulmate.”
Yoongi looks at Jimin with utter confusion, “What?”
“Sir, your table,” the hostess says softly.
Yoongi holds his hand up to her as he replies to Jimin. “What do you mean your soulmate?”
Jimin sighs, “It’s a bit of a long story-“
“So shorten it,” Yoongi demands.
“I’m part of the 1% population that has more than one soulmate,” Jimin states.
“More than one,” Yoongi repeats.
Jimin nods, “Kinda crazy, I know. The doctor said I can have multiple, so here we are.”
“I’m so confused,” Yoongi whispers.
Jimin laughs softly, “Yeah I know.”
His smile slowly falls off his face, “He’s trying to move on, you know. But I think me finding Jungkook really pissed him off. He rarely talks to me these days. I try to be there for him, but he always says to go with Jungkook.”
Yoongi swallows the lump in his throat, “I didn’t ask.”
Jimin nods, “I know.”
Jungkook takes Jimin’s hand, looking at Yoongi, “Sorry for running into you. We should be letting you go to your table. Have a nice night.”
Yoongi says nothing as they walk away, Jungkook rubbing Jimin’s shoulder.
He follows the hostess who had been standing there, hearing the whole thing. As he’s reading the menu, all he can focus is on what Jimin told him. He takes a sip from his wine before pulling up his phone, searching into the 1%.
There’s many studies on it, many people in the category volunteering for research. It was unheard of until the 18th century when the king of England met and married his soulmate, then three years later when travelers came, he met his second soulmate. Of course no one believed this, but as time went on and technology advanced, more research was done.
One scientist who dedicated his entire career to studying soulmate found that the 1% often shared a similar experience. The birthmother lost their soulmate and conceived with someone who’s soulmate was yet to be found. The birthmother then experience the heartbreak equal to loosing a soulmate once their partner found their soulmate while still pregnant with the child. Even then only 1% of those children born would have multiple soulmates. A test on the person claiming to have another soulmate. The test is to send a small shock to the heart to see if the others hearts respond to the distress call.
Yoongi stops reading and looks for other sources. It’s there that he stumbles across a blog.
Having two soulmates seems like a dream come true right? Something out of a movie, but in reality, it’s difficult. I had met my soulmate in high school. We, of course, dated and in our second year of University, we married. Everything was perfect, until it wasn’t.
In my last year of school I had gotten an internship for a company, who I will not name, it was hard to get into so I obviously didn’t want to mess up. On my third day there, I met the CEO of the company and his nephew. That’s when it happened. We looked into each other’s eyes and the red string on our fingers glowed. I was utterly confused, so I ran. I went home and didn’t know what to think. How could I have another soulmate? How could I explain this to my husband?
Yoongi shakes his head as he skims through the long blog, hoping to find some answers.
The three of us tried making it work after finding out. We took things slowly, it was very awkward for us. My husband and him seemed like total opposites, how was this possible?
Yoongi groans as he continues to skim, finding something the catches his attention.
I realized my husband was my husband and my boyfriend wasn’t suppose to be my boyfriend. Being in a relationship with him was like breathing the thickest air. We couldn’t work out. It was painful for the both of us knowing we were tied together by this string, but not having a romantic feeling for one another. So, we talked it out and decided it was best to stay friends.
And let me tell you! It has been the best decision of my life. My husband loves having him around now. I’ve realized that my other soulmate is there in a platonic way. He understands me in a way my husband can’t, which is strange considering he’s also my soulmate.
My husband who is my soulmate, completes me, makes me happy, loves and cherishes me. My other soulmate completes me too, he’s always there when I need him and knows when something is bothering me or when I’m in pain.
It all worked out for him too. I’m going to see him marry the love of his life next month.
Yoongi sits back on his chair, letting the waitress take his empty plate. He looks around the restaurant noticing how empty it was compared to when he came in.
Once he’s paid and left, he sits in his car, contemplating the idea in his head before he gives up, he takes his phone out and sends a text.
-Yoongi
Let’s meet up. I wanna talk.
-Jimin
I’m free tomorrow. Let’s do lunch.
Yoongi heads home, and stays up for hours thinking about everything he’s read. There’s a small piece of hope in his chest, but he doesn’t want to act on it. He doesn’t even know if this is really what he wants. It’s been months and maybe Taehyung’s moved on, but Yoongi still wants answers.
**
In the afternoon, Yoongi is sitting in a small cafe drinking his coffee when Jimin walks in.
“Hi, sorry I’m late,” Jimin says as he sits down.
Yoongi waves him off, “I’m used to it.”
Jimin smiles, “Taehyung was always late too.”
Yoongi nods before taking a sip from his coffee, “So, I have questions.”
Jimin nods, “I probably have answers.”
“How do you know you and your boyfriend are meant to be together romantically?” Yoongi questions, his eyes narrowed.
“Well, when I met him and my finger started glowing I was really confused. So we went out to dinner and…we ended up in bed together. Best night of my life,” Jimin says with a smile on his face.
“So you knew because you slept with him?” Yoongi’s eyebrows furrow.
Jimin shakes his head, “In a way? When I met Taehyung we were excited to be soulmates, our parents were more excited than we were. They brought us together all the time. In our teen years when we decided to…mess around, it was awkward. It was never easy with Taehyung. Our first kiss, our first everything was with each other and it was so awkward, we couldn’t look at each other after that. We spent days avoiding each other until our bond forced us together.”
“Jimin I know all this,” Yoongi sighs, having heard this story a million times. “It’s like breathing with a pillow over your face, I get it.”
Jimin nods, “With Jungkook, everything is easy. We met up that night and just…talked. I thought Taehyung understood me better than anyone, but Jungkook understands me on a different level. We talked until the restaurant closed and even then we still walked around and talked. He walked me home and kissed me on the cheek…and it was different. I felt so different, that whole butterfly feeling but like the butterflies were exploding. So I took him to bed, and we’ve been together since.”
“How long ago was this?”
“Two months ago, but I’m ready to marry him. I’m planning to ask him to move in with me,” Jimin says biting his lip.
“I read about how people have more than one soulmate after you told me,’ Yoongi says.
Jimin nods, scratching the back of his head, nervously laughing, “I never thought I’d be telling you this. I’m adopted. My parents couldn’t have children, an accident happened when my mother was younger, prevented her from having children. But they were soulmates, so hearing what the doctor said surprised me. I talked to my parents and they said that a little after I was born my birth mother couldn’t handle the pain she’d felt and her body just gave out, that’s all they’d been told. So I put everything together and figured she lost someone she cared deeply for.”
“Your mother lost her soulmate,” Yoongi says, understanding what she must’ve gone through.
Jimin shakes his head, “I don’t think she lost a soulmate. The doctor said that she should’ve survived the pain. He believes she’s one of those people that aren’t born with a soulmate.”
Yoongi’s eyes widen, “But that’s even rarer than the 1%”
Jimin nods, “I know right? Crazy. But he said that that’s why he thinks she died after giving birth. While pregnant at least she had a part of who she loved, but after I was born-“
“It was like she’d lost her soulmate,” Yoongi finishes.
Jimin nods, looking down at the table. A silence falls over them as Yoongi takes everything in.
“What about Taehyung?” Yoongi whispers after a while.
Jimin sighs sadly, “I think he’s angry that I found Kookie after you broke up. I told him everything too and he said he was happy for me, but I knew he felt sad. After that he just didn’t want to be around me. We did everything together, but after he was coming up with excuses and telling me to go with Jungkook. I can’t go out with both him and Kookie because they don’t get along. Taehyung’s angry because he finally understands what you meant.”
“Why would that anger him?”
Jimin shrugs, “For not realizing it sooner. For not seeing things in your perspective.”
Jimin taps his fingers in the table, nervously, “I want to apologize to you. Your break up was because of me, because I didn’t know boundaries. I’m really sorry. Without Taehyung I’m alone. He was always so popular and I wasn’t. He’s my only friend. I was afraid to loose him so I did whatever I could to be with him, but that got between the two of you. I know you don’t like me, and I just really wanted my best friend’s boyfriend to be my friend too, but I just really messed that up. You always made plans and Taehyung pushed them aside for me, and I knew it was wrong but you always agreed to do them another time so I kinda figured you weren’t too mad. But I’m just really sorry. I knew I messed up that night you told him to leave.”
Yoongi sighs, running a hand through his hair, “It’s not all your fault. I should’ve came to you and told you that it bothered me. But at the same time…I never met my soulmate so I didn’t understand.”
“I wanted to protect him from that too. He has a big heart and part of me just wanted to protect him in case you met yours and left him. I guess that’s why I never cared if you got angry, because you’d leave eventually, Jimin explains.
Yoongi looks at Jimin confused, “What are you talking about?”
Jimin tilts his head, confused, “You haven’t met your soulmate.”
“Jimin my soulmate died when I was 10,” Yoongi says slowly.
Jimin’s eyes widen, “what?”
“Taehyung never told you?”
Jimin shakes his head, “No. I asked but he said you never met them. I just assumed you hadn’t found them yet. I’m so sorry to hear that.”
Yoongi shrugs, “It’s whatever.”
Jimin laughs bitterly, “Here I am with two and you don’t even have one.”
“Guess some of us are just born lucky,” Yoongi says.
JImin shakes his head, “It’s not fair. I want to make it fair.”
“What? How?” Yoongi asks.
“I want to give you one of my soulmates,” Jimin smirks. “You can have Taehyung.”
Yoongi laughs, “Thanks.” His smiles falls from his face, “Do you think he’ll take me back?”
“Of course he will. He loves you. He’s miserable without. I can’t even make him happy,” Jimin says with a frown. “I want my best friend back. I miss his smile.”
“I miss it too,” Yoongi admits softly.
“Then go get him back. You know where he lives,” Jimin says with a smile. “And this time I promise I won’t get between you two.”
“Good, because if you do, I’ll take Jungkook away,”Yoongi threatens.
Jimin gasps dramatically, “You can’t have him!”
**
Yoongi stands outside of his old home, the one he shared with Taehyung. He hesitates to knock, his stomach in knots. He takes a deep breath in, softly knocking on the door. He hear Taehyung mumbling something on the other side before he’s unlocking the door.
“Jimin I don’t-“ Taehyung’s eyes widen as he sees Yoongi. “Yoongi?”
“Hi,” Yoongi whispers.
“W-what are you doing here?” Taehyung whispers back, his eyes glossy.
“I wanted to talk,” Yoongi says his throat closing up on him.
“D-did you want to come in?” Taehyung asks.
Yoongi shrugs, “If you want me to.”
Taehyung opens the door wider, allowing Yoongi to step inside. The apartment hasn’t changed. It’s a bit emptier, space unfilled from when Yoongo’s things were there. Yoongi sits on the sofa, waiting for Taehyung.
“Did you want coffee or water? I can get some cookies, or toast,” Taehyung begins to ramble.
Yoongi shakes his head, “Just come sit.”
Taehyung cautiously sits next to Yoongi, keeping a distance between them.
“I’m sorry,” Taehyung says first. “I was so wrong. I should’ve paid more attention to you. I took your love for granted, and I’m so sorry.
Yoongi moves in closer, wiping Taehyung’s tears with his thumbs, “I’m sorry too. I should’ve talked to Jimin when things started getting bad. I should’ve talked more. I should’ve said more.”
“Jimin has another soulmate-“
“I know,” Yoongi interrupts him.
“You do?” Taehyung asks, tilting his head.
Yoongi nods, “I saw him last night at a restaurant, and he explained everything to me this afternoon.”
“I’ve been mean to him,” Taehyung says. “I’ve been ignoring him.”
“I know. He’s really sad about it,” Yoongi. Says.
“I miss him. But I miss you so much more. I feel like my heart was stepped on by an elephant.”
Yoongi chuckles sadly, “I feel the same. I would’ve never said it like that though.”
“That’s because you’re not creative like I am.”
Yoongi smiles as he leans forward, kissing Taehyung’s lips gently.
“I love you,” Yoongi whispers against Taehyung’s lips.
“I love you so much,” Taehyung whispers between kisses.
Yoongi says noting else, but wraps his arms around Taehyung’s waist, a warmness filling his body. Taehyung shifts and climbs onto Yoongi’s lap, their lips never breaking apart. Taehyung moans as Yoongi bits his bottom lip, gently sucking before letting go. Taehyung’s hands slip under Yoongi’s shirt, breaking the kiss to take it off.
They stare into each other’s eyes, breathing heavily. Yoongi takes Taehyung’s shirt off before kissing his neck, his hands feeling all of Taehyung’s back and sides. Taehyung wraps his arms around Yoongi’s shoulders, his hands gripping Yoongi’s hair, pulling him closer. Yoongi begins to undo Taehyung’s belt, fumbling around with it.
Taehyung whines when Yoongi bites down on his collar bone. Yoongi pulls Taehyung’s pants down enough to take Taehyung into his hand.
“I wanna taste,” Yoongi moans against Taehyung’s neck.
Taehyung quickly stands, removing his pants, waiting for Yoongi. Yoongi falls on his knees licking his lips as he stares at Taehyung’s cock. Just as Yoongi is about to put Taehyung in his mouth, the door bell rings. They both turn to the door, surprised.
“Tae? Are you okay?” Jimin says from the other side.
“Jimin I’m gonna kill you if you don’t leave!” Yoongi growls.
“Oh, you’re here! Okay bye!” Jimin says.
Yoongi looks up at Taehyung, both giggling before Yoongi takes Taehyung in his mouth, eyes never leaving Taehyung’s
**
The next morning Yoongi wakes up to an empty bed, the house smelling like something was burning. Yoongi shakes his head as he gets up. He quickly washes his face, and brushes his teeth with an extra toothbrush before going down to the kitchen. Taehyung’s humming as he cooks eggs, a stack of slightly burnt pancakes are cooling on the counter.
Yoongi smiles as he walks in, wrapping his arms around Taehyung’s waist.
“Morning. I made pancakes,” Taehyung says happily.
“Thanks. How long have you been up?” Yoongi asks.
“About an hour. I was hungry,” Taehyung replies.
“You could’ve woken me up. We could’ve gone out for breakfast,” Yoongi mumbles as he noses Taehyung’s neck.
Taehyung shakes his head, “I wanted to cook for you. I’ve been trying really hard to learn.”
Yoongi hums, “well at least the pancakes aren’t black this time. And the smoke alarm didn’t wake me up.”
“I know! I’m so proud of myself!” Taehyung smiles brightly.
Yoongi leans up and kisses him, “I am too.
**
Things became easier after that. Taehyung is very clingy and wanted Yoongi to by his side at every moment, not that Yoongi minded.
"I was thinking..." Taehyung says slowly one night as they lay on the couch. "Why don't we move back in together?"
"Don't you think it's too soon?" Yoongi asks.
"Well things have been going really good, and we sleep over at each other's house all the time so I just thought this would be easier," Taehyung explains slowly.
"What about Jimin?" Yoongi asks.
"What about him?" Taehyung mumbles. "He has his soulmate, he'll be fine."
Yoongi frowns, "don't you think you should talk to him?"
"Why? You didn't want me to prioritize him over you, and now I'm not."
Yoongi sits up and takes Taehyung hands between his, "I think you're angry with Jimin about something deeper than what you're telling me. I know you miss him, and I don't think it's healthy to be away from your soulmate for a long time. Just talk to him and work things out. It's for the best. I don't want you to be hurting."
Taehyung begins to cry, he falls against Yoongi and sobs, "it hurts so much. I want to be near him but I don't know I just feel so empty."
"Why don't we call them over and have a nice dinner? We can all sit down and talk," Yoongi suggest, rubbing soothing circles on Taehyung's back.
**
When the doorbell rings Taehyung tightens his hold on Yoongi's arm, softly whining.
"Come on lets open the door," Yoongi encourages.
Jimin and Jungkook stand on the other side.
"Hi hyung!" Jungkook says addressing Taehyung with a smile. "I brought some wine."
Yoongi takes the wine from Jungkook's hand thanking him. Jimin and Taehyung stare at each other nervously.
"So you gonna come inside or...?" Yoongi says opening the door wider.
"Jimin."
"Tae."
They both say.
"I'm sorry."
"I'm sorry."
They say again.
They hug each other tightly, burying their faces in each other's neck.
"Come in Jungkook," Yoongi says waving him further inside the apartment. "Let's go get this bottle opened."
Jungkook smiles brightly at him and he follows him into the kitchen.
**
Yoongi was never found of Jimin, even after they worked out their difference, he was annoying in Yoongi’s eyes. He and Jungkook always came over to hang out, and constantly teased him and ate his food. Taehyung was no help either. He lets them in while Yoongi’s at work, and they cause chaos in the house.
“Stop being so grumpy!” Jimin coos as he pinches Yoongi’s cheeks.
“I’m not grumpy! I hid those left overs for me to eat after work!” Yoongi argues.
“And they were delicious,” Jungkook laughs.
“I’m gonna move out,” Yoongi sighs.
“I’ll go with you!” Taehyung giggles as he sits in Yoongi’s lap.
“If he goes, then I go!” Jimin says.
“And if Jimin goes I have to go,” Jungkook adds.
Yoongi groans, “why can’t we go to Jimin’s house? Why is it always here?”
“Because you never come over, and Taehyung lives with you so we have to be here,” Jimin says.
Yoongi hums.
**
“What are you doing here?” Jimin yawns as he opens the door.
“Hi Minnie!” Taehyung says happily.
“We decided to come over!” Yoongi smiles widely.
“You did?” Jimin says confused.
“Yup,” Yoongi smirks.
**
“Okay I get it!” Jimin says agitated. “We won’t go over your house every day! Just please leave! I want Jungkook to fuck me! It’s been weeks!”
Yoongi chuckles, “Wow, that much feel terrible.”
“Are you telling me you’ve fucked here?” Jungkook asks in disgust.
“Oh we’ve gotten good at being quiet. It’s actually really fun!” Taehyung laughs.
“Get out!” Jimin says pointing to the door.

Yoongi always knew he wanted to marry Taehyung. It was something he often thought about, even early into their relationship. Taehyung was a man he needed in his life. After working on their relationship after their breakup, Yoongi realized Taehyung was the man he wanted to wake up next to for the rest of his life.
Taehyung had been sneaky with his plans. He wanted to surprise Yoongi, knowing he wanted to be the one to propose. He texted Jimin and told him to leave them alone until the next day, needing this to be just about him and Yoongi.
When Yoongi arrives home, he’s surprised so see candles everywhere.
“You’re home!” Taehyung says kissing Yoongi.
“What’s the occasion?” Yoongi asks surprised.
“Well, remember when you said we should have time for ourselves because Jimin and Kookie always seem to be around?”
Yoongi nods, it was a slight argument they had a few weeks ago. Taehyung couldn’t understand why since he loves having them around, but Yoongi made him realize they need to spend some time alone too.
“Well, I think every Friday after you get off, we should do a date night. I texted Jimin and told him to not come over until tomorrow, so we have the whole day to ourselves,” Taehyung smiles.
“Really?” Yoongi says as Taehyung walks him over to the kitchen table.
Taehyung nods, “I ordered food from our favorite restaurant because I wasn’t going to poison you by cooking.”
Yoongi huffs, “thanks.”
Yoongi didn’t know that the date nights was all part of Taehyung’s master plan.
They continued their date nights, and it defiantly helped their relationship become stronger. Yoongi didn’t even mind having Jimin and Jungkook over the rest of the week. He had something to look forward to.
Two months with their date night, Yoongi is surprised when he comes into the house. Flower petals covered the floor, leading Yoongi to the table. He laughs as he sees Taehyung leaning against the table with flowers in his hand.
“Did I forget and anniversary?” Yoongi jokes.
“No just wanted to get you some flowers,” Taehyung says as he hands them to Yoongi.
Yoongi smiles as he takes them, giving them a sniff, “I love them.”
“Let’s put them in some water and then eat,” Taehyung says softly as he takes Yoongi’s hands.
After dinner and dessert, Taehyung takes Yoogni’s hands and kisses his knuckles.
“I have a surprise for you,” Taehyung whispers.
“What?”
Taehyung smiles as he stands. He goes to the fridge and takes out Yoongi’s favorite dessert, chocolate chip cookies his mother made when he was growing up.
“Cookies?” Yoongi says as the plat is handed to him.
“I called your mom for the recipe. Jungkook helped me make them,” Taehyung smiles.
Yoongi bites into one and hums, “It’s is good.”
They eat some cookies together, laughing and talking when Taehyung get’s off. The chair and gets down on a knee.
“Yoongi. I’ve loved you for so long, and I can’t imagine myself with anyone else. I know we aren’t soulmates, but. Their isn’t a doubt in my mind that destiny brought us together. Will you marry me?" Taehyung whispers brokenly.
"Yes," Yoongi tackles Taehyung to the ground kissing him deeply.
Yoongi might've not met his soulmate, but he did meet Taehyung. And that was even better.
