Work Text:

Shota Aizawa never thought he would find himself in this position. It really was the unfathomable, though his partner seemed to think otherwise.

He almost punched the blond as he chuckled, poking Aizawa in the side saying “Hey, you already foster a butt load of cats. It was only a matter of time before that turned to children.”

Now the teasing from one of his oldest friends wasn’t rare, and normally he would have hit Hizashi right upside the head, but his hands were full at the moment. He looked down at the small boy in his arms who had latched onto him a few hours ago after he was rescued and refused to let go. He sighed, remembering when the head of the agency told the already very tired underground hero that, everything considered the best course of action was for Shota to take the kid home and look over him for the time being.

"You do know you're going to be helping me right?" The mustached blonde chuckled and sped up to reach the door first and open it for Aizawa

"Of course. I’ve always wanted kids, you know." The black haired man shifted his hold in the small boy as he existed the building and headed for their car

 "He isn't our kid, Hizashi."

The other just rolled his eyes behind his glasses, once again speeding past to open the back car door and set the small bag of a few of the kid’s belongings.

"I didn't say he was."

That smug bitch was gonna get it when they got back home. The kid still didn't want to let go. He started making sounds of protest and mumbling into Aizawa's shirt as he held on for dear life while Hizashi tried gently prying the kid off. In the end they both sighed and opted for Shota to sit in the back with him. Hizashi closed the door and slid into the drivers seat adjusting the mirror.

"Seat belts!" He belted in a sing song voice making Aizawa roll his eyes and simply use his capture weapon as a sort of seat belt as the child still wouldn't let him go or let the man put him down. The entire ride the kid mumbled though neither adult could make it out. In fact for such a young kid he knew a lot of words, he couldn't be more than 5 or 6 years old, but they weren't sure.

Izuku Midorya, a name was all they had along with the status of the rest of his family, which sadly now fell in the solid deceased category. Poor kid. More intel would be in by the end of tomorrow along with a child therapist.

But for today, all they had to do was get home and get the kid comfortable.

The trio made it to their apartment building and loaded up into the elevator. Hizashi decided it would be the perfect time to spew some really bad dad jokes to the kid, while it made Shota want to pull out his hair it was helping the kid finally calm down and warm up to the blonde. By the time the ride in that hell box was over and they were in their apartment Izuku was giggling and he even let Shota pass him over to Hizashi whereupon he promptly took the opportunity of no longer holding a child to flop onto the couch face down with a groan. The action elicits a laugh from both his partner and the child he's holding. The black haired man listens to them as they shuffle away into the kitchen. One of the cats hops onto the couch and settles itself on Aizawa’s back as he drifts off into sleep.

Aizawa woke up the next morning to the drifting smell of pancakes and bacon. He sat up to find himself having been tucked into his own bed in his own room. The underground pro stretched sighing at the satisfying pops of his back, then he stood and shuffled his way out and to the living room where he found the small freckled boy sat on the ground in an allmight onesie waving around a small feathered toy in front of one of the foster kittens. A small tortie who preferred hiding in the corner to playing at all. The man was slightly impressed, but mostly hitting himself for melting on the inside of the sight.

The boy stopped, big green eyes turning up to the adult. He gasped and stood up dropping the toy

“Mr. Eraser!” Be ran over latching onto Aizawa’s leg and the hero almost started crying. Of course, though he didn’t show it.

“Alright kid what have you been up to?” He kneeled down and reached over to ruffle the child’s already messy green curls.

"Uh. Mr. Mic said he was going to make breakfast and told me to play with the kitties so I did." It wasn't too odd for the boy to be unusually ok. He went through a traumatic experience yesterday but children tend to live in the moment. Subconsciously it's there, but he hasn't prossesed it yet. He hasn't even been told about his mom yet.

Aizawa was not looking forward to that.

"Oh. Do you like the kitties?"

"Mhm" Izuku nodded just as the blonde walked out of the kitchen, hair tied up in a messy bun wearing mismatched loose pyjamas and his regar prescription glasses (not that the green ones weren't prescription).

"Mornin Sho! Hey we're a little low on food stuffs so we gotta take a trip to the store today." He looked up and raised an eyebrow, then looked down at Izuku and back up to Hizashi and once again the kid.

He sighed and groaned out a "fine". Izuku giggled.

"Good. Also, breakfast is ready!" The other man turned and made his way back into the kitchen. The small greenet tugged on aizawas shirt and when he had the mans attention he raised his arms and bounced on his little toddler feet.

"Alright alright. I hear you" the man picked the boy up standing straight and carrying him to the kitchen.

The plates were already set and Mic was waiting at his seat arms out making grabby hands. Aizawa rolled his eyes and walked over depositing the boy in Mic's lap then took a seat in his own chair. They all loaded their plates with their breakfast and started a mundane conversation about anything.

Looking up from his half eaten pancakes Shota couldn't help the smile that creeped on his face as he watched Izuku eat the bite of pancake on his fork then hand the now empty utensil back to Hizashi who set it down and picked up a napkin to clean the syrup from the kids cheek.

After breakfast Izuku insisted on helping Shota wash the dishes so a chair was dragged over to the sink and a rag was given to the small child. Aizawa washed and Izuku would dry them and gently set them in the rack. Hizashi gushed and seemed to almost teleport around the kitchen as he took picture after picture of the two.

When that was done, Hizashi took Izuku while Shota attended to the cats and both returned fully dressed. Thankfully Mic was dressed in his normal civilian clothes and had just braided back two strands of hair. Aizawa then took the time to change and tie back his hair in a small man bun.

Then they were off. Out the door and back to the car for a trip to the store. Once there Izuku was set in the seat of a shopping cart which Hizashi was pushing until he caught sight of one of his favorite snacks and he ran forward abandoning the already half full cart with a child. Shota laughed and grabbed the cart that was slowly drifting away and followed behind his Lover. Izuku looked panicked for a second clutching the action figure the two allowed him to pick out for them to buy him, as one of his temporary guardians ran off but quickly calmed at the others laugh and being retrieved from his helpless drifting state in the cart. Shota mussed the green curls again further calming the boy and pulling a small giggle from him. Hizashi was throwing snacks into the cart often asking Izuku if he liked them and throwing a second bag or box into the batch if the kid did.

As they were shopping a few fans who recognized Mic and Sadly also Eraser run over and notice the kid. Hizashi thought it was a good idea to gush and call Izuku his baby making the fans go crazy. Aizawa wanted to bash his head against a wall. However, he never denied anything.

It took a while for the small group that came together to calm down and dissipate and by then Izuku had gone from nervous and shy to shining with praise, Aizawa was also sure hundreds pictures of the three with captions alluding to the hero's adopting a kid were already circulating the web. He couldn't be bothered to care.

They left with a trunk full of food, a car seat for Izuku, and both a happy kid and happy loudmouthed hero with snacks and toys (Mic bought a plushie, of himself).

Always the little helper,  Izuku once again insisted on being given a bag to carry up to the apartment. A few things had to be moved around in order to give Izuku a bag light enough for him to carry all the way up but it was worth watching him proudly waddle down the hall ahead of them hefting the bag up in front of him with both hands. Mic once again took pictures and even a small video of the toddler. The freckled boy tried helping with putting the stuff away, but after running back and forth for a while one item at a time he got dizzy and Hizashi sent Shota to take him out to the living room and keep him entertained. He had to assure the boy he could clear up himself and only after a lot of convincing, bargaining, and one close call for a tantrum where the kid held onto the door frame and started crying, Izuku finally let Aizaway scoop him up and take him out to the living room to play with some cats and his new action figure of Eraserhead himself. Somehow he was convinced the kid would pick out an All Might toy.

They ordered lunch and ate on the living room floor watching a movie and then it was Aizawas turn to make Dinner. By the end of the day the kid had also taken Hizashi's little Mic plush hostage and the man had agreed to just let him have it. A call came in from the agency as Izuku was brushing his teeth and mic was opening the bed in what used to be his room for the toddler to use, Shota assumed this is also where the kid slept last night. The agency had apologized to the two and asked them to watch the boy for one more day, fully prepared to be shut down by Eraserhead and fully surprised by how willing the usually grumpy Underground hero was. Mic took the phone and failed at whispering to them that the kid had made Sho soft. Said man only rolled his eyes and picked the boy up as he returned from the bathroom and set him on the bed. The call ended after a bit of business talk and as they were tucking the boy in Izuku drifted off mumbling.

"I've never had two dads before...actually I havent ever had a dad before at all. Thank you." Hizashi held back his tears only until the door clicked behind them as they exited the room and Shota was surprisingly close to doing so as well.

Kids weren't so bad after all. Who knew this would lead the both of them to seek out teaching jobs in the future.
