One of the things I kept thinking as I watched the movie and read so much of the fantastic fic about these characters, is that Booker seemed to be self-medicating with alcohol, and that his grief over his lost life and lost family was only a part of the condition he was struggling with. I wanted to explore what that would mean to him, and to poor Quynh, whose learning curve when finally getting out of the water would be massive. I can't hold a candle to a lot of the incredible work in this fandom, but I sure enjoy playing with it.
