Izuku is a villain (but he's still nice)

Summary:

It's on the tin and in the tags

I just wanted a Villain! Izuku fic where he was nice and had a found family in the league of villains ok?
and sometimes if you can't find something that fits exactly what you want you have to make it yourself
(edit: this has much less family so far then I was intending but I plan to make up for it)
I kinda got the idea from this: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/663436588850832247/?nic_v2=1a46Y0fCt

BTW feel free to use this to write your own fic! I'd love to read it.

Chapter 1: The beginning bitches

Chapter Text

“You can’t become a hero.” All might said, and Izuku's world shattered . He had dealt for years with Kacchan bullying him. Years of explosions, beatings, and voices telling him:

“You can’t become a hero.”

“Quirkless Deku.”

“If you want a quirk so badly, why don’t you jump off the roof and hope for one in your next life?”

But he’d always hoped. And now, here was All Might. His hero, his idol. Telling him he couldn’t become a hero. He ran. Ran home and stuffed all his hero notebooks into his bag, and ran. He didn’t know what he was doing, where he was going, but he just needed to get out. Tears fell from his eyes as he ran. Eventually, he couldn’t anymore. He sat down and messaged his mom that he was out. He sat and let himself cry. Then someone came up to him.

“Are you...ok?”  he looked up, and not being able to bring himself to lie, shook his head.

“You can tell me about it if you want?” And then, he couldn’t stop himself. He poured his guts out to this stranger, telling them everything, about Kaccchan’s bullying, and about what had happened today. About his obsession with heroes and All might that was now crushed.

-

Shigaraki wasn’t sure how this had happened. He had just felt like there was this,,,tug, pulling him toward the boy. But then something he said latched in his head.

“I guess everyone was right. I’ll never be a hero.”

“Then become a villain.”

-

Izuku wasn’t sure he heard that right. A villain?

“What?”

“You heard me. If everyone is so sure you can’t become a hero, become a villain. Show them you aren’t weak, or whatever else they called you. You may be quirkless, but you don’t have to be weak.” before, he would have shouted villain, tried to fight. But now, he was losing faith in heroes. He handed his backpack over to the man.

“These are my hero notebooks. There is a lot of information in there that might be helpful. This is a yes, by the way.” he smiled. “I want to join. I don’t want to be weak anymore.”  he pulled out his phone and texted his mom: ‘Don’t worry mom, I’m fine. I don’t know if I’ll ever come back, but rest assured I’m fine❤.’  then he handed the phone to the man sitting next to him.

“Just needed to let my mom know I’m ok.” the phone crumbled to dust in the villains’ hand. Izuku immediately pulled out a notebook and pencil.

“Woah! What’s your quirk? I’m assuming it’s how you turn things into dust, but how specifically? Does it require all five fingers? It seems like many quirks do. How well can you control it? Wh-” he kept talking, partly to the man, partly to himself.

“Oh! I forgot! What’s your name?”

“Shigaraki. I can answer your questions while we walk.” he stood up, and Midoryia followed.

-

Shigaraki wasn’t quite sure how this had happened. He absent-mindedly told the boy to write down his story so he wouldn’t have to keep telling it, and continued thinking. It was almost sad. His whole mission statement was basically ‘fuck All Might’ but he still couldn’t believe that the number one hero, top of the publicity polls, had told this sweet little child he couldn’t be a hero. Eventually, they reached the bar that served as the league’s hideout.

“Welcome to the club kid,” he said, opening the door.

“Shigaraki, why is there a small child with you?” Kurogiri asked as soon as they entered.

“He’s clever. Midoriya, show Kurogiri your hero notes. Also, you should have heard the questions he was rattling off at me about my quirk.”

“I devoted myself to studying quirks. It might be because I don’t have one. Or maybe it’s just how I am?”

“Kid, these are...very detailed notes. I’m impressed. And I saw the backstory page.”

“Oh yeah. That. Also-” And then he grabbed the notebook, pulled a pencil out of seemingly nowhere, and started bombarding Kurogiri with questions about his quirk, which were answered dutifully. Shigaraki went to get himself a drink.

Time went by, and Izuku trained. He learned how to fight, how to effortlessly jump around from rooftop to rooftop. He learned different types of fighting and weapons. He wasn’t perfect, of course, but he was smart and learned the bases well. And he continued to observe quirks, and how heroes used them. But now he also studied the villains’ quirks, and how they could use them. He might not’ve been the strongest member of the league, but he was close to Shigaraki and Kurogiri. They were almost like family to him...really violent family. Eventually, all for one revealed himself. Izuku heard that he could have a quirk. He was sorely tempted, but he realized how determined he had become. He wanted to be great without a quirk. Shigaraki wanted to kill All Might. Not too long ago, he would have balked at even the thought, but he was warming up to it. He still wasn’t sure about the whole killing thing, but he did want to see All Might suffer. Especially since he found out All Might had been born quirkless. He could have given Izuku the power. He at least could have told him he could try. Izuku was furious and ready to let him have it. Not face to face yet, he needed at least a little dramatic buildup. It would be even better if he could get him in his true form. They didn’t know how they were going to get to All Might, but they’d figure it out. Then the answer came.

-

“All Might revealed to be teaching at U.A.! Many top heroes have gone to that school; and taught there, but this is number one-”

“Psh.” Izuku interrupted. “Number one? I don’t know how he’s still on top of the popularity charts. An excited little kid came up to him and asked if he could be a hero, and he said no! Whatever. Some day I’ll get revenge.”  He noticed Shigaraki smiling faintly at him. They were lucky to have Kurogiri, the designated mom friend who kept them from getting into trouble because they were both too dramatic.

The news lady kept singing All Mights praises while Shigaraki flipped the television the bird.

-

Soon the plan fell into place. The media was hounding the school, all they had to do was let them in. USJ. The plan was deceptively simple. Warp in with all the lowgrade thugs who wanted to beat someone up along with Shigaraki, Kurogiri, Izuku, and the nomu. Kill All Might.

“Kid, I just realized you need a villain name.” Shigaraki suddenly said during a planning session that consisted of Kurogiri studying a map of the USJ and the other two hanging around bothering him.

“Oh yeah! I guess I never thought of it. I don’t know, I want something simple, but I obviously can’t use my name.”

“Hmmmm…maybe mid-one?”

“Shigaraki what-”

“It’s your name, Midoriya, combined with one, which is both!” Izuku just stared at him in disappointment.

“Ghost?” Izuku suggusted.

“That’s stupid.” Shigaraki said as Kurogiri lifted his eyes from the map for a moment before going back to studying it. They thought for a bit longer before Izuku exclaimed:

“All-In!” And it was agreed.
