Bad Dragon and Flying Phone

Summary:

For one: He forgot he had actually signed up to order the god damn thing (which, to be fair, gave him a 20% off code for his first purchase. Something a 20-something broke-ass student living with his older brother and his tall clumsy Alpha mate really appreciates, let’s be real).

And two: They send out emails to their customers every now and then to remind them, Hey, remember us? You bough from us once, so do it again!

or: Jungkook should really pay attention to what kind of emails he clicks when he's at work.

I took some artistic liberties to this string of funny-ass messages I read after I got back from my anniversary dinner with my hubby, and I just couldn’t resist. :’)

Work Text:

Jungkook shifted uncomfortably from one foot to another as he stood in line at the phone store, the one a few stores down from his own on the high-end shopping street in the middle of downtown, trying to will himself to stop fidgeting with his facemask. He looked down forlornly at his phone, a freshly cracked screen glaringly visible.

He cursed himself for being so jumpy, but in all honesty, he also just blamed Jin-hyung for putting him in this predicament in the first place.

Clearly if the older Omega hadn’t been the one to introduce him to the website of (tantilizing and truly forbidden pleasures) ‘Fantasy Dildos,’ then none of this would’ve happened.

The bunny-toothed Omega had indulged his Hyung in the casual conversation about them before shutting him out when Jin had decided he’d spur into all the juicy little details of his and Namjoon’s latest sexcapades with a string of la la la’s, followed by an I can’t hear you while he escaped to the safe confines of his room.

But once burrowed in the soft fabrics of his nest—surrounded by the familiar scents of his best friend Taehyung and his mate (his other bff) Jimin, Jin’s clean, yeasty and sweet aroma (kind of like freshly baked bread) that reminded him of a warm blanket tucked around him on a cool winter morning, Namjoon’s earthy and woody Alpha scent of bergamot, freshly cracked pepper and amberwood—curiosity took over and he surfed the website until he landed on a very enticing knotting dildo with cum tube. And who is Jungkook to deny himself of the earthly pleasures that he couldn’t otherwise provide himself without an Alpha mate?

So, that’s what lands Jungkook into this situation. His stupid horny brain and his stupid momentary lapse in judgement.

Yeah, you ordered that dildo from us once and we want you to know that we made a newer, better version of it that’s firmer and has an even bigger knot!

Which translates into the predicament at hand: Jungkook mindlessly opening up his email at work, not really looking at what he was reading, and then bam!

Giant picture of a truly big dildo in his face.

So he may have screamed a little and threw his phone straight into the wall. He watched it bounce pathetically and cracking when it landed on the corner of one of the expensive purses they sell at his store.

“Next customer,” a low voice brings Jungkook back from the depths of his embarrassment, hoping that his normally clean laundry scent wasn’t tinged at the edges with the smell of burning lint. Mumbles a soft here, sorry and takes his place at the tall counter.

When he looks up, it’s when he goes, oh. The man- an Alpha- (even with the plexiglass, six feet of space and facemasks between them, Jungkook can smell him. It’s woody, not unlike Namjoon, but it’s nice and it smells so good- like sandalwood, and a bit flowery like narcissus flowers—with hints of something fruity... blackberries. Yeah. It’s different and it makes Jungkook kind of want to drown in it)- is cute.

Like, he’s shorter than Jungkook, but not my much. But exudes this sort of manliness that’s also sort of blasé but not unkind? Because Jungkook can see the way the Alpha’s kitten eyes are crinkled at the edges, like he’s smiling at him. But he might also be scowling for all Jungkook knows—everyone is wearing masks because of the pandemic. He hopes it’s the former and not the latter.

“Um, I cracked my screen and was wondering if it could be, um-” The Alpha’s staring into his eyes (more like his soul) and it’s making Jungkook feel shy. He focuses his eyes down on the nametag. It reads Min Yoongi, “- fixed, Yoongi-ssi?”

He sees a flicker of something shine in the Alpha’s eyes, and he opens his mouth to speak.

“Ah, well, let’s take a look, shall we?”

Jungkook slides his phone under the little slot in the plexiglass and watches as Yoongi’s big (!!!) hands take it and gives it a good wipe with a disinfectant cloth, then turns it to assess the damage.

“Alright, do you want good news or bad new first?”

 “Good?” Jungkook holds his breath.

“It can be fixed.”

He lets it out.

“Okay. The bad?”

“It’s going to take twenty minutes, so you’ll have to go brave the brisk September air for a bit.”

The frown he originally had on his face is replaced by one of relief, and Jungkook can only smile, his eyes wide and grateful and all sorts of thank God.

“That’s great! I mean, I’ll just pop over to Starbucks and—yeah, I’ll get out of your hair, then,” he says, and before Yoongi can even reply, he’s out of there.

Twenty-two minutes later, he’s standing at the door, holding onto two hot cups of coffee. One caramel macchiato with extra whipped cream and chocolate powder on top for himself and a piping hot americano for Yoongi. As a thanks. He hopes that it’s what the Alpha likes. ‘Cause it’s a thank-you-for-saving-my-ass coffee.

Not anything else. Nope.

The little ring of the bell signals his entrance and instead of Yoongi, a very familiar dancer is standing at the till.

“Hobi-hyung?”

“Kookie! Hi, how are you? What are you doing here? Is that for me?” Hoseok asks a thousand questions as he smiles so big under his facemask that Jungkook can just tell he’s smiling his signature heart-shaped smile.

“I may or may not have thrown my phone in blind panic earlier and came in to see if it could be fixed. I didn’t know you worked here, hyung.”

“Oh, just started the other week. My hyung, Yoongi, he works here. He’s works here part-time while he finishes his music degree on campus!”

“Ah, Yoongi-ssi, he’s the one that’s fixing my phone, um,” he lifts the cup of coffee and tilts his head to it, “so I got him coffee. I took a guess and got an americano, so…”

He can see a twinkle shimmer in Hoseok’s eyes.

“Oh, so you’re the cu—”

He’s cut off by Yoongi, who opens the Employees Only door a little too hard, and startles Jungkook with the slam against the wall.

Hoseok looks over at him and gives him this look, like he knows something that Jungkook doesn’t. It’s a little suss, but Jungkook is also a lot trying to not drop the coffee onto the floor, so he walks to the counter and puts down the cups.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you. It’s done,” Yoongi is holding his phone in his hand and shows Jungkook the new screen.

“Oh my God, that’s awesome. I- that’s going to save me so much humiliation, you have no idea,” Jungkook wants to hug Yoongi.

“Humiliation?” Hoseok pipes up. Yoongi just quirks an eyebrow up, and Jungkook swears he can see the both of them smirking. He’s glad he’s got his facemask on, so they can’t see him blush.

“I, um, opened up a not-so-safe-for-work email without thinking, and I accidentally threw it out of my hands as I tried to close the app. Hyung, don’t laugh- it’s not- you know Jin-hyung would just hold this over my head!” Jungkook whines.

“I don’t even want to know, Kookie.” Hoseok barks out a few more hearty laughs and clutches his sides.

The bell rings and Hoseok goes over to greet the new customer, leaving Jungkook standing there with Yoongi across from him. The Alpha clears his throat and extends his arm to hand Jungkook his phone.

“I’d ask, but it seems like a sore subject,” Yoongi comments.

“Not you too, Yoongi-ssi,” Jungkook pouts. He runs his finger over the rim of his coffee when he remembers the other one. “Oh! I, uh, got you a coffee. As a thanks, you know.. for, fixing my screen.”

“Oh, you can call me Hyung.”

Jungkook’s eyes widen at the forwardness, a little taken aback, and a lot enamoured.

Yoongi is quick to notice and adds, “You know, because you’re Hobi’s friend, so that means we’re friends, too now. And, the coffee- that’s very kind of you. Thank you, Jungkook-ssi.”

“You- just Jungkook is fine, hyung,” he tries it out and decides he likes the way the word feels on his tongue.

Jungkook takes the cup into his hand and can feel it’s only a few degrees off from a tepid warmth compared to its original hotness. “Oh, it’s gone kind of cold now, though.”

“Well, then I guess we just have to go get coffee again another time.”

“I… yeah, that’d be- that would be nice, Yoongi-hyung.”

They exchange numbers there, and a few weeks later, at a little coffee shop that’s not far from Jungkook’s apartment, he sees Yoongi.

And a few more times after that, Yoongi finally asks what kind of email made Jungkook throw his phone.

“Was it not safe for work or something?” He chuckles, like it wasn’t the truth.

“I panicked, hyung. I mean, it was a photo of huge anthropomorphic dildos.”

Yoongi almost spits his coffee out, his face crimson red.

Mutters about how sorry he is that he asked and Jungkook is most definitely in like.
