Chapter Text

“ Kacchan! I haven’t seen you in forever!” came up the boy, who was in his sophomore year of high school. He was a student at U.A. High, a school that was notorious for its enlistments of potential pro heroes, which fascinated Katsuki. He wanted to be a hero when he grew up. A life long dream that always cheered him up just thinking about it.

But his mood soured with the run in of the green haired student.

“Tch,” was his response at Izuku, as he turned his head away from seeing his former babysitter.

“You’ve gotten so big, Kacchan! Maybe one day you’ll be as tall as me !” Izuku remarked, hovering a hand over Katsuki’s head as a way of emphasizing his growth.

Katsuki swatted his hand away, annoyed. “ I’ll be taller than you’ll ever be.” At that, Izuku simply smiled. While Kacchan was mostly rude towards him, Izuku admired the six year old and his quirk.

Sparking explosions out of his hands! That was pretty impressive. In fact, it was pretty impressive enough to become a really strong power for a top hero.

Izuku remembered the first time he came over to babysit little Kaccahn, who lived just a few houses down from his apartment complex. He was super excited to learn of his new babysitter who happened to be attending Japan’s top hero school, rowdy enough to even invite Midoriya-san on his adventures with his friends.

During these trips, he asked Izuku of his quirk, ready to shout that All Might’s would always be superior.

But after a quick demonstration of ‘ Superpower’, Bakugou was amazed.

It was just like All Might’s quirk.

After that, whenever Izuku would be invited to take care of Kacchan as he roamed around the forest with his gang of friends, he would always be told to demonstrate one of his moves. From making him jump from one side of the bridge to the other. To telling him to cut down a tree with a flick of his finger. At one point, Kacchan asked if he could fly too, to which Izuku responded,
“ No, but I can jump pretty high, “ he paused before getting an idea. “ Would you like to see?”

Flash forward to the little boy in the arms of his babysitter, exclaiming with excitement and a wild grin on his face, peering over to look at the rooftops of trees and rivers. Izuku had jumped from a way off point on a nearby tall hill, which gave him leverage to jump into the sky pretty far up.

“THIS IS SO COOL!” shouted Kacchan.

Izuku said not a word. He just smiled.

They took a few more jumps into the air, sometimes switching between one of Kacchan’s friends so they could experience it as well. At the end of the day, exhausted and tired Izuku was encircled by 5 year old kids that asked him to come back another day.

‘To jump towards the moon!’

‘ Fly across Japan and back!’

‘ To destroy a mountain with only the strength on your pinky!’

And Kacchan, with his hands on his hips and a cocky grin on his face, broadly stood among them. He had a pretty cool babysitter, he wasn’t gonna lie.

A few months passed, Izuku sometimes finding himself babysitting little Kacchan.

During one of these months, Kacchan had come home to exclaim, “ I GOT A QUIRK I GOT A QUIRK!” It was that day that Izuku was the first one to see it besides Kacchan’s peers and teachers, as he was looking over the Bakugou household while Katsuki’s parents were away on a business trip.

“ Congratulations Kacchan!! What’s your quirk?” he asked.

“ EXPLOSIONS!”

Izuku’s eyes lit up in marvel. “ That’s so awesome Kacchan! With that quirk you’ll surely be the number one hero in no time! “

He said it so harmlessly, without any malintention, that he wouldn’t know the effect of it until Katsuki was older. Kacchan took in his words as his ego grew bigger and bigger.

Soon the first year of U.A had come and gone and Izuku Midoriya was graduating to class 2-A.

Izuku didn’t have time these days to babysit anymore, nevertheless visit his neighborhood. He never heard from Kacchan or his parents, and at one point, getting caught up in one hero priority after another, he almost forgot about the little boy who had loved seeing his babysitter.

Now here he was, on a first grade field trip to U.A’s school festival.

The blond boy had changed. His admiration for his babysitter now sat in a dusty corner of his room, where past things are forgotten. But Izuku didn’t forget. Never to forget his first #1 fan.
