Summary:

After everything Izuku Midoriya had been through, you'd think that this memory would be rather tame. Especially considering his time at UA. After all, aren't villain attacks more traumatizing that that? Wrong.

or

A villain breaks onto UA campus and hits Midoriya with a quirk that makes him relive his most traumatic memory.

Notes:

!!Trigger warning!!
There is a panic attack in this so when you see ~~~ fell free to skip if it makes you uncomfortable ;)
the quirk first activates, the way its phrased might seem kinda rape/non con but nothing sexual happened. It was a kidnapping and slight torture. if any of this triggers you, this might not be the fic for you. I'm an EXTREMELY angst loving author so.. ;)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

It was a rather normal day; well, as normal as the days get for class 1A.

Training was outside that day, nothing too bad. Weighted endurance. “How much weight can you hold? This will help you learn your limits.” Aizawa had said.

There were 20 metal plates, each weighing roughly 10 kilograms (20 pounds) that would be placed in our arms that we had to hold for at least 20 seconds before getting another placed on top.

Midoriya had just finished his test, his score being 181 kilograms (400 pounds, which is all 20 plates together) but even then, it was still really light to him.

A/N: I looked it up, and Midoriya can lift roughly 8,130 pounds, goddamn. Stronk tiny boi. >:/

Walking back towards the group, he saw a flash in the corner of his eye. Looking over, Midoriya could see a figure standing next to a tree, when the blue light landed on Ashido.

Midoriya’s eyes widened before he ran, grabbing Ashido’s wrist and pulling towards him. Both fell to the floor, with Ashido leaning on Midoriya. The light turned red and exploded, catching everyone’s attention.

“Oh my god! Deku-kun, Mina-chan! Are you okay?” Uraraka called.

Izuku ignored her and called out, “Aizawa-sensei! They’re in the trees!”

Aizawa jumped into action, turning to face the trees and activated his quirk. Midoriya jumped up, following Aizawa.

The person stepped out of the shadow of the tree, a scowl present on their face.

It was hard to tell if they were a girl or boy, with white hair fading into a light orange at the tips and bright purple eyes. They were wearing a dark grey crop top, going just above the belly button and low-cut white jeans with black knee-high boots. They had a black mask covering their mouth and nose.

“Damn children, always getting in the way.” They muttered. Aizawa glared at them, glowing eyes locking onto the figure. They seemed rather unbothered by it.

“I am here to make you all suffer . ” They’re voice getting low, almost like a growl. They faced the group but had their gaze flicked up. Never making eye contact.

“I won’t let that happen!” Midoriya yelled out, Full Cowling activating. They flicked their gaze at him before turning away.

“Don’t test me, boy. I’ll deal with you later.” They snapped, turning to Aizawa and pulling a knife out of their pocket.

Aizawa used his capture weapon to try to pull the knife out of their hands, but they just jumped off to the right and threw the knife. Aizawa pulled back just in time to dodge.

Midoriya turned towards the class, shouting. “Yaoyorozu, Jirou! Get to the teachers! Uraraka, check out Ashido! Kaminari, get a broadcast out! Todoroki, Kacchan! Prepare as a backup for Aizawa-sensei! Everyone else stay back and try not to get hurt.”

The class snapped out of their daze, nodding before doing what they were assigned. Bakugou jumped forward, smirk grazing his face. Todoroki made eye-contact with Midoriya, both nodding in a silent conversation.

A loud grunt was heard, tearing their gaze to the villain and Aizawa. The villain was on top of Aizawa with the knife sitting in the latter’s stomach.

Midoriya jumped into action, aiming a kick at the villain’s face before they jumped back.

Todoroki quickly pulled Aizawa out of the way, giving him to Tsuyu, before turning back towards Midoriya.

“I swear, it’s always you! You keep getting in my way!” The villain screeched, before lunging at Midoriya.

He could do nothing but dodge as they wouldn’t let him get a hit in. This only seemed to make the villain angrier; their face turning a dark red. Eyes still never looking at him, always looking at his shirt or his hair.

The fight lasted like this for several minutes before Midoriya could find an opening. Once he did, he managed to land a solid punch on their jaw.

Midoriya grinned. I got the shot in!

The villain jumped back, rubbing their jaw before making direct eye contact with Midoriya.

Midoriya’s grin fell off his face as his hands fell to his side. He could hear the shouts of confusion from his classmates.

Midoriya saw multiple black and white images flashing in his mind. Memories… Midoriya thought as the images settled on one. The image slowly bled colors and immediately knew what the memory was.

He stumbled back, tripping over his feet and landing on the ground. HE was in front of him again, he could feel the hands grabbing his arms; pulling him- o h mY G OD!

Todoroki ran up, grabbing Midoriya by his shoulder, attempting to pull him out of the way. Bakugou moved up to fight down the villain.

Midoriya screamed and Todoroki flinched back. Bakugou glanced over before turning back. “Icy-hot! Move your ass and take over! I’ll handle the damn nerd.” He yelled out.

Todoroki jumped over instantly, making bakugou jump back and land next to Midoriya.

“Deku! What the hell is your problem?“ Bakugou yelled. MIdoriya curled more into himself, crying softly. Bakugou cringed, taking a calm step forward and crouched next to him.

Midoriya mumbled to himself, eyes looking at something Bakugou couldn’t.

Midoriya’s mumbling slowly returned to a normal speed, allowing Bakugou to understand what was said.

“Running through the parking lot, he chased me and he wouldn't stop. ‘Tag your it!’ “ Midoriya wailed.

Bakugou froze as he now fully understood what was happening.

Thinking back to a couple years ago when Midoriya went missing for 4 days. No one truly knows what happened as he refused to talk about it. When Midoriya was found, he had been tortured continuously the entire time.

“What’s they’re quirk?” Todoroki yelled. Bakugou, shocked out of his thoughts, yelled back, “Something to do with memories!!”

“Wow, who’ve thought there were some brains in there.” The villain drawled, jumping back from Todoroki.

“My quirk makes people relive their most traumatic memory.” They said, rolling their eyes before aiming a kick right into Todoroki’s shoulder.

He winced before shooting ice into their stomach.

Turning back to Midoriya, Bakugou was trying to talk to him. Trying to get him out of the fight zone.

~~~
Midoriya’s breathing slowly sped up until he was full on hyperventilating. Bakugou didn’t show it but he started panicking
‘How do you help a panic attack again? C’mon I learned this, dammit!’ Bakugou thought back to 2 weeks ago when they had learned how to deal with panic attacks and anxiety attacks and the difference between them.
In a moment of panic, Bakugou grabbed Midoriya’s hand gently (or as gently as Bakugou can) and pulled it to his own chest.
“I need you to try and follow my breath, ok? Deep breath…” Bakugou knew how risky it could be considering Midoriya’s quirk could activate in his panic.
Midoriya felt like there was a cloud covering his face. It felt stuffy and almost suffocating. The man in front of him and feeling the phantom pain of knives and needles in his skin was all he recognized. It was hard to get a good breath.
Distantly, Midoriya felt something move his hand but he felt so disconnected from his body he didn’t really realize until he felt slightly rushed thumps underneath it.
It felt like the cloud was slowly pulling away as the man slowly faded and Bakugou filled his vision. His ears felt clogged and everything was still slightly blurry through the tears.
~~~

“K..Ka..chan..?” Midoriya hesitantly called out, voice rough and dry from crying and screaming. He felt Bakugou release a small breath of relief.

“C’mon nerd. We gotta get out of the way before Icy-hot freezes my ass down again.” Bakugou said, grumbling.

Midoriya let out a slightly wheezy giggle as Bakugou hauled him to his feet and pushed him towards the group. Bakugou’s hand sitting on Midoriya’s back.

Midoriya’s small limp and the way he was cradling his right arm to his chest and the way he was breathing showed how much the battle had worn him down along with the panic attack.

Tsuyu quickly ran up and helped pull Midoriya out of the way.

About halfway, Midoriya slowed to a stop. Both Tsuyu and Bakugou looked at him. Midoriya quietly called out.

“Kacchan..?”

“What nerd?”

“Catch me, please…” was the only warning given before Midoriya’s eyes rolled to the back of his head and he slumped forward.

“W- hu- HAAH!!” Bakugou yelled, pitching forward to catch him.

Tsuyu grabbed Midoriya’s arms while Bakugou swung his arm around his chest.

Uraraka jumped forward and helped pull them towards the rest of the group where everyone quickly got to work on bandaging him as best they could.

The teachers rushed into the field a few minutes later and made quick work of the villain while Recovery Girl jumped towards Aizawa who, weirdly, was still conscious, despite having been bleeding this entire time.

(When asked how, he responded “Spite” and confused absolutely everyone)

The remaining teachers ran up to Midoriya, carrying him back to campus.

Present Mic and Midnight pulled Bakugou to the side and asked a couple questions. “What happened?”

Bakugou quickly answered “The nerd was hit by a quirk, which made him relive his most painful and traumatic memory or some shit...”

The teachers paled slightly before asking the next question. “Do you know which memory it was?”

Bakugou cringed before answering. “That’s… not my place to say. Ask that dumbass when he wakes up. Don't expect a lot from him, though. It’s been 5 years and I still don’t know details.”

Bakugou walked away after that, quite shaken (though he would never admit it) about this situation and just wanted to take a nap.
