At night

Summary:

Jimin and Jungguk spent the night together. Something about drinking wine, running around and musquito nets...

My version of events.

“Thank you for tonight, Gukkie”. Jungguk feels Jimin’s warm breath against his neck and he decides the night cannot be over yet: “Come to the boathouse with me”. They stand there for a while, wrapped up in a hug, until Jimin whispers: “We both know what will happen if I join you there”. Jungguk presses a soft kiss against Jimin’s ear: “That’s kind of the point, baby”.

Work Text:

The air is cooling down after a warm day and Jungguk sighs contently. He likes evenings and nights, he seems to come alive when the sun goes down. He looks to his right to see his partner in crime, wrapped up in a hoodie he found in Junguk’s suitcase. His black hair frames his bare face, rosy cheeks and smooth skin. Jungguk knows he is staring. He has been staring at Jimin for years now. Somehow he just cannot help himself as he feels drawn towards his hyung again and again. Jimin’s chuckle brings Jungguk back to reality: “Stop staring”. Jungguk shuffles in his chair, suddenly shy as he mumbles: “I can’t help it”. Jimin now laughs out loud, one of those happy laughs that is contagious and bright and Jungguk smiles happily as he throws another block of wood on the fire.

“I wish we were home”, Jimin sighs. Jungguk looks at him from aside and frowns: “Are you not enjoying our time here?” Jimin shrugs and gestures around him: “I love this place and everything is relaxing, but…” He stops there and Jungguk wonders if he missed the point: “What?” Jimin stretches out his hand and almost automatically Jungguk catches it in his own. He loves the feel of Jimin’s small hands in his own, his cute and short fingers making his skin tingle. They sit there for a while, hand in hand, as the fire crackles and the stars shine bright. Finally, Jimin finishes his sentence: “But I miss you”. Jungguk frowns and squeezes their hands together: “I’m right here, hyung”. Their eyes meet and Jimin smiles softly: “I know”. Suddenly the older is on his feet and he pulls Jungguk along towards the pingpong table. It is just the two of them, all the others have gone to bed. As Jimin grabs a ping pong ball, Jungguk places his hands on Jimin’s hips: “What did you mean, baby”. His voice is soft as he tries to turn Jimin around so they are face to face. Once they are, Jimin doesn’t look into Jungguk’s eyes and instead he leans forward so his face is pressed into a strong chest. Jungguk just wraps him up close as he wonders what is going on with the sweet man he is holding in his arms. Slowly Jimin’s arms curl around Jungguk’s waist and he steps even closer so they are fully pressed against each other. That is when Jimin explains, words muffled into the fabric of Jungguk’s shirt: “All day I have to think twice about how I am around you. I try not to focus on you too much, but I just like being with you all the time. And my bed is so big…” Jungguk can’t help but smile when he hears the somewhat unstructured confession, pressing a kiss into the black hair that is tickling his cheek. Jimin’s tighten around Jungguk's waist and the smaller tries to explain how he feels: “I just miss how we are at home. Just us. And I don’t have to think twice about whether I hold your hand, or kiss you, or slap your ass.” Before he can continue Jungguk laughs out loud: “You do that here too, baby”. This time it is Jimin’s turn to say: “I can’t help it”.

Jungguk sighs and pulls back until he can look at Jimin, who is sporting a delightful blush on his beautiful face. “Jimin-ah, you can slap my ass anytime you want”, Jungguk tells him teasingly, only to continue more seriously: “But I know what you mean, the camera’s are everywhere all the time”. They look at each other for a moment and then Jimin’s smiles with a glint in his eyes: “They do turn them off at night”. Before Jungguk can respond Jimin is on his toes, pressing a soft kiss against Jungguk’s lips. For a moment Jungguk feels like time is standing still but then he is extra awake: “What are you saying, Jimin-ssi”. The nickname earns him a chuckle and then a husky reply: “Do you want to spent the night with me, Jungguk-ssi?” Jungguk feels a stir in his stomach and he presses their foreheads together: “And what should we do all night, Jimin-ssi”. Two small hands press against his chest until Jimin frees himself from Jungguk’s hold. As he walks to the other side of the pingpong table he says: “First I will beat you at pingpong. After that I will claim my prize.

They play for about an hour until Jungguk ends up being victorious. He won’t let Jimin forget it as he tells him: “What did you say about a prize?” Jimin cutely scrunches up his small nose and Jungguk decides he needs to touch it. So he walks over and just boobs the little nose, watching with delight as Jimin gets shy and flustered. Jungguk likes the fact that after so many years together a simple thing like this can still do that to Jimin. So he just wraps him up close again and whispers: “Cutie, sexy, lovely”. They cuddle close for a bit, suddenly realising that the night air is getting a bit chilly. “So what is next, Mochi”, Jungguk asks. He feels Jimin shrug as he replies: “I don’t care, as long as we can do it together”. Jungguk pulls them both back to the fire so they can warm up a bit. He finds a bottle of wine, still half full, and fills both their glasses so they can toast to quiet nights together. The wine is soon gone and they both feel warmed up and giddy. When their eyes meet Jungguk smiles: “So what is my prize for winning just now?" Jimin frowns: “Are you still going on about that?” Jungguk laughs: “You are a sore loser. I want my prize, Jimin-ah”. Jungguk stands up but before he can close the distance between them, Jimin runs off: “Come and get it”. Jungguk doesn’t even think about it. He just starts running after the man he has loved for what feels like forever. Jimin is a fast runner, but so is Jungguk. At first they are just running around the grass, but then Jimin runs towards the dusty road and Jungguk has no choice but to follow him: “Where are you going”. No answer, but Jungguk sees that he is catching him slowly. They are almost at the next house, when he is close enough to wrap his arms around a small waist and hear high giggles next to his ear. They stop running, Jimin held captive in Jungguk’s arms as they try to catch their breath. When they can speak again Jimin smiles his sweet eyesmile as he asks: “Am I your prize, Junggukkie?” Jungguk doesn’t miss a beat as he replies: “Always”.

They walk back slowly. Arms curved around each other’s waists, walking in step as they press their sides together. The dark feels comforting, a safe place where they don’t have to hide or pretend. As they reach the main house they both hesitate. Jimin stalls going inside, wrapping his arms around Jungguk’s neck, standing on his tippy toes as he sighs: “Thank you for tonight, Gukkie”. Jimin leans back, cheeks red as he says: “We shouldn’t really…” Jungguk sighs: “Why not? I picked that boathouse as my room for a reason, Jiminie”. Jimin chuckles: “I was already wondering why you wanted to stay there, out of all the lovely rooms we could pick from”. Jungguk knows the dark doesn’t cover his blush and he shrugs: “I just made a decision based on certain criteria”. Jimin leans back so their eyes meet: “And which criteria were those, Jungguk-ssi”. Jungguk doesn’t look away when he shares his decisionmaking process: “I didn’t think I could go a whole holiday without being close to my boyfriend. And I know he is very loud when we are… close like that”. They both start laughing and Jimin hugs Jungguks again, whispering in his ear: “You can’t blame your boyfriend for expressing his feelings when … being close”. “Jimin-ah”, Jungguk  sighs: “Please come with me”. Jimin seems to think it over and then he decides: “No sex tonight, Jungguk. Jin is sleeping in the tent and we both know I am loud enough to wake him up.” Jungguk knows he is right, but he is not yet ready to let go of the ball of soft that feels so right in his arms. So he tries his luck one more time: “Just for a bit, for an old fashioned make-out session”. Jimin laughs against him and Jungguk feels a soft kiss against his cheek: “Junggukkie, you make it impossible to resist you”. Jungguk smiles: “Is that a yes?” Jimin’s hesitation is gone and to Jungguk’s relief they find their way to his bedroom without letting go of each other.

When the door closes behind them, Jimin moves backwards while pointing at the wall: “That’s a spider, Jungguk. Take it away”. Jungguk grabs a slipper and lunges forward, making sure the spider cannot ruin their plans. Jimin chuckles happily: “You always protect me”. Jungguk puts the slipper in its rightful place as he answers: “Well, you need protecting, Mochi”. When Jungguk turns around Jimin is right in front of him, pressing into him: “I love you, Jungguk-ah”. Jungguk cannot reply as he feels pillowy lips against his own. They’re soft and a bit cold from the nightair. He feels Jimin’s breath fanning across his cheeks and Jungguk sighs contently. Jimin doesn’t waste any time, licking Jungguk’s bottomlip to gain entrance so their tongues can dance together. Jungguk loses himself in the feeling, wet and warm and soft, so soft. Jimin pushes Jungguk towards the bed. It is only a step backwards for Jungguk to feel the wood against his calves. Small hands press against his broad chest as to tell him to sit down, but Jungguk breaks the messy kiss to remind his boyfriend: “The musquito net, baby”. Jimin seems to get back to reality for a moment and chuckles: “We nearly broke it”. They crawl in, find their position and Jimin smiles: “So, where were we”.

Jungguk could kiss Jimin for hours. The feeling is so overwhelming he loses all sense of time. He also stops thinking properly, forgetting all about the agreement they made earlier. So when his large hand sneaks underneath Jimin’s shirt to gently touch his warm skin, he doesn’t understand why Jimin pulls at his wrist and mumbles into their kiss: “No, Gukkie”. Jungguk breaks away and frowns: “No?” He looks down at his boyfriend, his black hair fanned across a pillow, his cheeks flushed and his lips swollen and bright red. He is so beautiful. Their eyes meet and Jimin reminds him softly: “Just making out tonight, Tiger”. With a sigh Jungguk remembers their conversation and he leans his head down until their foreheads touch: “Right”. Jimin’s hands reach up to cup Jungguk’s handsome face and pull him close again. With their lips pressed against each other, he whispers: “Kiss me for a bit longer, Gukkie”.

The feel of Jimin’s mouth is enough to cloud Jungguk’ mind again. His hands wandering over Jimin’s clothed body, trying to feel his boyfriend through the fabric that is seriously getting in his way. To make clear where his mind is Jungguk reaches down to cup Jimin’s crotch, only to hear a gasp as Jimin rolls away from him. Before Jungguk’s mind comes back to him he watches as Jimin rushes off the bed, trying to find his way out of the musquito net. But Jimin can be clumsy, especially when his mind is a bit foggy from kissing Jungguk. So as Jungguk is trying to understand what is happening, Jimin falls out of the musquito net and lands on the floor. They both hear the crunching sound of the net breaking and Jimin hisses as he lands on his hip. It hurts. Jungguk leans forward and their eyes meet. For a moment they just look at each other and then they start laughing. Laughing so hard there are tears in their eyes and their tummies hurt. Jimin tries to say something, but he cannot stop laughing. So he gives up and stretches himself out on the floor. Jungguk reaches out to the part of the net that is torn, as he tries to catch his breath. He can’t, so he just holds the broken net in his hands as he cries from laughing too hard.

Finally they calm down. Jimin sits up and curses under his breath as he presses his hand against his hip. Jungguk frowns: “Baby, are you ok?” Jimin nods: “Bruised my hip I think, landed straight on it”. They both smile again, as the memory comes back to them. Jimin gestures to the net that Jungguk is still holding: “I broke it.” Jungguk nods: “You did, but it was also my fault”. They look at each other and Jungguk feels a bit guilty: “I forgot again that we were just making out, so I may have… touched you…”. His voice trails of and Jimin chuckles: “You did, and I knew that if I would let you do that a second longer I would have forgotten our agreement too”. Jungguk starts laughing and gestures towards the direction of Jin’s tent: “To be honest, we might have still woken him up”.

Jimin gets up and leans forward to press a soft kiss against Jungguk’s lips. They are still swollen from their make out session and Jimin sighs regretfully. It is hard to leave when they both just want to be as close as they can be. Jimin leans in for one more kiss and then he moves away, limping to the door as he says: “This is really hard, Gukkie. I wish I could stay.” Jungguk sighs and reminds him:” It’s either that or Jin can listen in as I make you feel good”. Jimin turns around and scrunches his nose: “Right, and we don’t want that”. He opens the door and blows a kiss towards his boyfriend, who is still sat on the bed holding the broken net in his hands. He smiles when Jungguk promises him: “When we get home, Mochi. It’ll be the first thing we do.”

(Bonus)

Jimin is still sleeping when Jungguk walks into the main house the next morning. He scans the kitchen and the game room and then quickly sneaks into Jimin’s bedroom. He remembers how Jimin had sighed into his chest last night about how big his bed is, and Jungguk can only agree. Jimin is rolled in a white duvet and only takes up about a fourth of the whole bed. He is curled up into himself and looks absolutely tiny. Jungguk doesn’t hesitate, forgetting about the cameras for a moment, as he crawls up onto the bed and spoons his boyfriend close. They may need to sleep in seperate bedrooms during this work holiday, but Jungguk needs his morning cuddle. His arm and leg wrap around the ball of fluff and he presses his nose against Jimin’s neck. A contented sigh escapes him as he feels grounded with Jimin in his arms. He hears a whisper so soft, it barely registers. As he hums he realises Jimin whispered ever so softy: “Hip hurts”. Jungguk pulls back his leg and cuddles Jimin close one more time before he rolls away. He stretches, slowly waking himself up for a new day. Then he scoots of the bed mumbling: “This bed is big”. He suddenly remembers the camera in the corner of the room and swallows the rest of his words.

And you should be in my bed. That’s where you belong.
