Summary:

“I don’t like when you use my name,” he scolds. “It sounds like you’re mad at me and I hate when you’re mad at me.”

Jimin nods, finally deciding to drop the prank. He also hates when Jungkook is upset and he’d rather upset himself than his boyfriend. He reaches for Jungkook’s hair and combs his fingers through it, loving how smooth it feels. He bends a little and kisses the younger’s forehead, watching him close his eyes and smile, this time much more sincerely.

“I promise I’m not mad, okay?” He whispers. “Now tell me what you want for dinner.”

Jungkook pulls him closer, making Jimin sit on his lap and keeping one hand on his waist while the other gently slides to Jimin’s thighs, thumb immediately carressing the skin.

“I want kisses. Can you give me kisses?”

or, the jimin helps jungkook perm his hair and they both end up with cute buns fanfic no one asked for.

Work Text:

The apartment is silent as Jimin sorts through all the material he has just bought, separating them carefully in the order they are supposed to be used. He has to be very cautious since this is something he can’t mess up and that’s why he has watched over 10 tutorials and called a friend to ask for some tips. He feels ready, now Jungkook just needs to trust his abilities. If he even has them.

It’s a good thing their apartment has a big bathroom so they can do it all there because for sure he’ll make at least a little mess, but he’s prepared to deal with it, even putting newspaper on the floor to avoid getting anything on the white marble. He looks at himself in the mirror and wonders if he can do the same thing, like Jungkook’s, his hair is a little longer now, but maybe he should wait and see if it works on the younger since he was the one who lost the bet. Maybe if the end result is good, he’ll try it on himself.

“All done,” he whispers to himself, watching all the material spread on the bathroom sink.

It’s still early and they agreed to do it only after Jungkook finishes editing his new video so now he just needs to wait a little longer. Since it’s already dinner time, he should take care of that, with Jungkook napping on the couch, he has some time to think about what to do.

It takes Jimin a few minutes to start looking through the kitchen cabinets because he’s so endeared, staring at Jungkook asleep with his mouth hanging open and his messy hair all over his face. He loves that his boyfriend is finally letting his hair grow longer. Last time he did it he ended up cutting it after reading a few stupid mean comments in one of his videos. It broke Jimin’s heart to see how affected the younger was by them but they talked so many times after it happened, Jimin always encouraging him to do whatever he pleases because comments like those ones will always exist. Mean people are out there ready to rip us to pieces if we let them. And Jimin will not let them get to Jungkook anymore.

He opens the fridge and stares at it for a few seconds to check what ingredients they have and what could be done for lunch. Before he can decide though, he remembers a new Tiktok trend Taehyung sent to him this afternoon saying he had to try on Jungkook and maybe this is the perfect time. With Jungkook still asleep on the couch, he can place his phone behind the vase next to the TV and it will be the perfect angle to film his boyfriend’s reaction.

Jimin checks the time just to make sure Jungkook has slept enough, he would hate to wake him up after just a few minutes, but he guesses it’s already been like an hour, so he’s good. Silently, he places the phone and presses record before going back to the kitchen. He looks for something that he can use to make noise and wake up Jungkook, but it can’t be anything too loud cause he doesn’t want to startle him. Jimin grabs a plate and places it in the microwave, the sound of glass against glass being good enough to make Jungkook stir, so Jimin closes the microwave door and presses a few buttons as he watches Jungkook open his eyes and stretch.

“Hi, baby,” Jungkook says in the middle of a yawn and Jimin smiles at him.

Jungkook grabs his phone and unlocks the screen, getting distracted for a few minutes. His hair is still all over the place and his eyes are small, making him look absolutely adorable in Jimin’s eyes.

But then again, he always does.

Jimin glances at him and decides that it's the perfect timing, with him still being sleepy, he’ll get even more confused and the prank will definitely be funnier. He wanders around the kitchen and then clears his throat.

“Jungkook, what would you like for dinner?”

It’s quiet for a few seconds as Jungkook stares at Jimin with wide eyes and a very confused expression. Jimin wants to laugh, but he manages to keep a straight face and wait for the younger to respond.

“W-what?” He stutters, putting his phone down on the coffee table in front of him.

Jimin acts nonchalant, pretending to grab a knife from the drawer and then looking at Jungkook with a serious face.

“What would you like for dinner?” He repeats, slower this time because he knows it will annoy his boyfriend.

Jungkook doesn’t bother answering it.

“Did you call me Jungkook?” He has a frown that Jimin knows will soon turn into a pout and melt his heart, but he needs to keep going.

He shrugs and raises one eyebrow. “Isn’t that your name?”

Jungkook immediately pouts and Jimin bites on his lower lip to keep from laughing. Gosh, he wishes people knew how hard it is to pull pranks on Jungkook simply because he’s the most adorable human being to ever exist. All Jimin wants to do is go sit on his lap and kiss that little pout away. He makes a mental note to do it as soon as this prank is done.

“Yeah, but you never call me that,” he whines. “What’s wrong?”

Now Jimin laughs a little and shakes his head.

“What do you mean what’s wrong? There’s nothing wrong,” he starts opening a few drawers but from his peripheral vision he watches Jungkook move a little on the couch, getting closer to the kitchen and staring at Jimin the whole time.

“Min, did I do something wrong? I’m sorry,” he pleads and now Jimin just laughs out loud.

Jungkook’s expression is absolutely devastating, his eyes assuming the clearest tone and all wide and innocent. Jimin thinks it’s ridiculous that his face looks like that and yet if he looks down he’ll see Jungkook’s thick thighs only half covered by his boxer briefs and that under the black shirt are the abs that make him sweat even in the coldest winter.

He rests his forearms on the kitchen counter and stares at his boyfriend’s beautiful face. Jungkook probably thinks the smile on his face is because of the situation and not because this prank is turning out better than he expected.

“What are you sorry for?” He challenges because he wants to see what his boyfriend will say.

Jungkook bites on his lower lip and his hands turn into fists.

“I don’t know,” he whispers in response.

“Then why are you apologizing?”

Jungkook reaches for Jimin, arms opening for him.

“Come here,” he asks with a soft voice. It’s always the softest tone when talking to Jimin and he can never get tired of it.

Jimin walks to him and sits on the arm of the couch, Jungkook immediately wrapping his arms around his middle and looking up at him. Seeing his bambi eyes up close makes it so much more difficult for Jimin. He’ll break soon and he knows it.

He waits for Jungkook to speak again.

“Please don’t call me Jungkook,” he begs with a little pout.

“But that’s your name,” Jimin explains.

Jungkook shakes his head frantically.

“Not for you. You only call me Jungkookie, baby, love, gorgeous or Koo,” he groans, clearly bothered by the use of his name.

“Okay,” Jimin caves in just to see Jungkook’s reaction.

Jungkook smiles but his expression tells Jimin he’s not completely convinced that everything is okay. That’s probably why he hesitates before speaking again.

Can you give me kisses?” He asks.

“But kisses won’t fill your stomach,” Jimin offers.

Jungkook smiles and presses his forehead against Jimin’s, looking up at him with loving eyes.

“No, but they will fill my heart and that’s enough for me.”

Jimin laughs because he’ll never get tired of Jungkook’s little confessions that may seem silly but makes him feel so happy and full of love. Sometimes the younger writes the sweetest declarations on post-its and leaves them around the house for Jimin to find at the most random moments.

“You’re so cheesy, you know that?” He jokes, holding Jungkook’s cheeks with one hand to make him pout.

“I know and you love it, so that’s okay,” he shrugs.

Jimin pecks his lips and nods. “I do love it. And I love you, my Jungkookie.”

The younger smiles when he hears his nickname and pulls Jimin even closer, a hand on his neck to make their lips meet halfway. Jimin wraps his arm around Jungkook’s neck and melts into the kiss and the way the younger makes him feel.

Later, when they’re finished with their dinner and Jungkook is sitting on his gamer chair editing a video diligently, Jimin reads again the instructions of the product in his hand and the tips his hair dresser friend offered. He mixes different products, all of them very well recommended and with excellent online reviews and watches the creamy mixture in the little bowl he’s holding.

Before he puts the last product in, he decides to check something one last time and walks to the living room, standing behind Jungkook and touching his hair, separating a few parts while he considers the correct amount of the product he’ll need to use for the perm.

Five days ago Jungkook lost a gaming bet to Seokjin when the older came over with Taehyung for a game night. It was supposed to be classic board games only but by the end of the night they were all in front of the TV, video game plugged in and controllers in hand. They played all kinds of games but ended up deciding on Mortal Kombat as the last one when Seokjin suggested a bet after Jungkook said no one could beat him.

Well, needless to say Seokjin proved him wrong. Not only did he lose a bet, he lost a bet in which the winner got to decide what the loser would do. And so here they are. Seokjin was kind enough to accept Jungkook’s bargain that only Jimin could touch his hair, but he made sure to remind the couple about the bet every single day so today Jimin finally found the time to go to the store to get the products he is going to need to perm his boyfriend’s hair.

“That feels nice,” Jungkook says when he feels Jimin’s hand in his hair.

“Are you almost done?” Jimin asks, checking the time on the computer.

It’s already past 11 because of course they had dinner while watching Korean dramas and then decided to cuddle on the couch which led to a lot of making out - a lot! - and now it’s late. Luckily they’re both night owls anyway and Jimin doesn’t have to work in the morning.

“I guess 30 more minutes,” Jungkook answers, clicking away and typing fast on the keyboard.

Jimin agrees with a nod, even though he’s standing behind Jungkook and the younger can’t see him. With his fingers he checks the length of Jungkook’s hair and makes a mental note so he can put the last product into the mixture that will make Jungkook’s straight hair turn into beautiful waves and curls.

“Noo, where’re you going?” Jungkook whines when Jimin drops his hands.

He giggles and holds the free hand Jungkook extended to reach for him. The younger intertwines their fingers and pulls Jimin closer, kissing the back of his hand, attentive eyes still on the screen playing a video of him talking about a new game that came out.

Jimin stands next to his boyfriend and bends down to give him a kiss on the cheek. Jungkook smiles and pouts, asking for one on his lips too. Jimin is quick to do what he wants and laughs because even when he’s almost in front of Jungkook, the younger’s eyes are still glued to the screen.

“Sit here,” Jungkook asks, tugging Jimin’s hand and making him sit on his thighs.

Jimin puts  one of his arms around Jungkook’s shoulders and watches the screen as the younger continues to work, not minding Jimin’s weight on his legs at all.

Curling a strand of Jungkook’s hair in his finger, Jimin sighs because the truth is that he’s a little bored, that’s why he started working on the mixture for his boyfriend’s hair, to distract himself while Jungkook worked on his video.

“You’re going to look very hot with a perm,” he whispers, imagining the curls falling over Jungkook’s eyes.

For the first time, Jungkook’s eyes meet his and he raises an eyebrow.

“Oh, so we’re really doing that?” he wonders.

Jimin tilts his head, confused at what Jungkook’s saying because it hasn’t even been two hours since they were on the couch and he mentioned it, Jungkook agreeing promptly.

“Gorgeous, we talked about it on the couch,” he complains. “Remember?”

“It’s funny that you think I can concentrate on anything while you kiss me and have your hands all over me,” he shakes his head with a grin playing on his lips.

Jimin explodes in laughter, hiding his face on his boyfriend’s neck because he can feel the heat creeping up his own neck. He needs to remember to never talk about important stuff with Jungkook while they make out.

“You lost a bet, baby and Seokjin will not rest until he sees you with a perm,” he explains.

Jungkook has most likely been ignoring Seokjin’s text reminding him of the bet, that’s why he's not bothered by them. The younger is actually awful at replying to messages, Jimin is probably the only one who gets his responses within seconds, everybody else has to wait 3-5 business days.

“My editing skills are pretty awesome. I can totally edit a permed hair and no one will know,” Jungkook smiles proudly, loving his idea, but Jimin just shakes his head. “Why not?”

“It’s like you don’t even know Jin hyung,” Jimin teases. “The moment you post the picture with permed hair, he’ll knock on our door to see it for himself.”

Seokjin might be the oldest in age in their group of friends, but he’s definitely the one with the same mental age as Jungkook, the youngest. They have a beautiful relationship and Jimin always makes sure to record whenever the two are together because that’s when the best jokes and the silliest moments come that make them all laugh.

When silence settles between them, Jimin lays his head on Jungkook’s shoulder and watches him finish the editing, he does everything so fast it’s actually amazing to see it. He’s very careful though, rewatching all the parts many times, making sure whatever he writes is spelled correctly and that the video doesn’t have any glitches. Luckily Jimin isn’t sleepy cause sitting on Jungkook’s lap is so comfortable, especially when one of his hands are free and he caresses his thigh and knee so softly and featherly like Jimin just closes his eyes to enjoy the proximity.

Jimin is playing with the string of Jungkook’s hoodie when the younger whispers that he’s almost done. He just agrees silently, pressing his lips gently against the skin of his boyfriend’s neck. He definitely doesn’t mind waiting but he’s so excited to get to work on Jungook’s hair that it makes him a little restless.

“All done,” Jungkook announces. “Are you sleepy?”

Jimin sits up and shakes his head. “Not at all.”

Jungkook seems a little disappointed with the answer and he probably thinks Jimin can’t tell, but it’s right there in his eyes, crystal clear for Jimin. He knows Jungkook has probably been avoiding this moment, it took him long enough to get the courage to let his hair grow, he’s always been so careful with it, never really changing colors or going for different cuts and now there are too many changes happening at the same time.

“Are you sure?” He insists.

Jimin smiles and holds his face in both hands.

“Baby, you’re gonna look gorgeous no matter what,” he assures. “I promise you I won’t mess up.”

Jungkook nods once, still looking hesitant so Jimin tells him that they don’t have to do it. He doesn’t have the heart to force Jungkook to do something he definitely doesn’t want. If it doesn’t make him happy, then it’s not something Jimin wants to do.

“It’s okay. If I don’t do it, Jin hyung will never let me hear the end of it,” he sighs and then kisses Jimin’s cheek and smiles. “And I trust you.”

Jimin agrees and pulls him by the hand, taking Jungkook to the bathroom where everything is waiting for them. The younger points at everything, wanting to know what each product does and smelling the bowl with the mixture Jimin had done earlier.

Jungkook sits on the little stool in the middle of the bathroom, but Jimin points at the bathtub.

“Baby, you have to wash your hair with this shampoo,” he puts the bottle on the younger’s hand. “We need a clean base to work on.”

Jungkook obeys without saying a word, standing on the edge of the tub to get the hair wet and start washing it. Meanwhile Jimin finally puts the product left into the mixture as he watches Jungkook hum while putting the shampoo and then rinsing it.

When he’s done, Jimin offers him the towel, but Jungkook being Jungkook, of course he decides to use his own hand to get rid of the excess of water and it gets everything wet, including Jimin.

“Jungkook-ah,” he complains, but can’t even hide the smile on his face. “Come here,” he asks, putting the towel on the younger’s hair and helping him get it dry.

When the hair is not soaking wet anymore, Jungkook moves the stool to stand in front of the mirror, saying he wants to see the whole process. Jimin combs the hair carefully, making sure not to hurt Jungkook’s scalp, watching his reactions through the mirror. The content smile on Jungkook’s lips and his eyes closed tell him that he chose the right comb at the store.

Wrapping a towel around Jungkook’s shoulder and putting on the black gloves, Jimin starts dividing his boyfriend’s hair into three sections, giving him three little buns that make him and Jungkook laugh. There are many steps that he follows carefully, always keeping in mind the tutorials he watched and, most importantly, his friend’s tips.

It takes much longer than expected for Jimin to finally finish putting all the rods in Jungkook’s hair. He’s very careful to put end paper around each hair strand and when all the rods are secure, he puts a cotton strip around the hairline like his friend recommended.

“What’s that for?” Jungkook’s curiosity has made him ask about every step Jimin did, but he just answered everything patiently.

“To protect your beautiful skin from the perm solution,” he says, making sure the strip is tucked under the rods. “You look cute,” he says, getting out of the way so Jungkook can see himself in the mirror.

Reaching for his phone, Jungkook is quick to choose the camera app and take lots of selfies with all kinds of facial expressions and poses in the mirror. Jimin watches with an adoring smile on his face, he’s glad Jungkook is more confident now about this because really there would be no amount of convincing Seokjin could do to make him perm Jungkook’s hair unless the younger was okay with it.

He doesn’t notice when Jungkook’s camera focuses on him, putting the mixture into the little bottle so concentrated not to waste anything and do it perfectly. It doesn’t have the best smell, but it’s not too bad or strong either, Jungkook for sure would be the first one to complain if it did, always sensitive to smells. He pierces the tip of the bottle with a little pin as instructed, this way he can control the amount of product he’s using.

As he applies it to Jungkook’s hair, the younger is distracted, looking through his phone. When he starts hearing a familiar conversation, he notices Jungkook is watching the video he made earlier and uploaded to his Tiktok account after dinner. It’s cute the way the younger laughs at his own reactions in the video.

“So many likes already,” Jungkook points out. “You’re a famous tiktoker, Min.”

Jimin shakes his head, his attention still on Jungkook’s hair and the product in his hand.

“A good part of them are your subscribers coming for my Jungkook content,” he says. “Your videos are always the ones getting the most likes.”

He’s not offended by it, he loves that the viewers look forward to the next Jungkook content in his account because one of his joys is making silly videos with his boyfriend. He started doing them just for fun, moments when they were together and bored and decided to do something to make each other laugh, and the fact that he can share them and also keep them in his account just makes him happy.

“Don’t say that, people love you,” Jungkook complains. “I read a lot of the comments they leave, especially on your dance videos. I see the amount of people flirting with you,” his tone is playful and Jimin just glances at him through the mirror.

A few minutes go by, Jimin working hard to apply the solution perfectly, one rod at time, which is much more tiring than he imagined. He’s happy Jungkook distracts him, showing funny tiktoks and telling him about his ideas for the next videos on his Youtube channel.

He starts checking Jungkook’s hair and is not disappointed when he sees the perfect wavy shape as he unravels a few strands. He smiles to himself because he’s so sure Jungkook will look perfect with this hair, he can pull any hair style and still look so damn handsome, it’s unfair.

“We need to rinse it, gorgeous,” he tells the younger who promptly gets up and goes to the tub again. “Bend over so you don’t get all wet.”

Jungkook laughs. “I’m used to you asking me to bend over in a very different situation.”

Jimin slaps his arm but can't hold his laughter.

“God, you’re the worst,” he’s amused to say the least.

When Jungkook sits on the stool again, Jimin grabs the hair dryer and starts working on getting it dry. Jungkook puts on some music and they do silly dances, laughing at and with each other, it’s their favourite kind of fun, just the both of them playing around like best friends and partners they always said they wanted to be.

Jimin applies one more product and then leans back on the sink, watching how cute Jungkook looks with all the rods in his hair and making silly faces, holding his cellphone like a microphone and singing his heart out to a famous girl group song he knows all the lyrics to.

“Not over yet?” Jungkook asks when the song is over.

Jimin shakes his head and tells him to wait 10 minutes.

A slow ballad starts playing from Jungkook’s phone and he looks up at Jimin since it’s one of his favourite songs. Jimin knows his boyfriend has a whole playlist filled with only his favourite songs that he says he plays when Jimin is at work and he’s at home all by himself.

Jungkook bows dramatically like in old films and extends his hand, asking Jimin to dance with him. Jimin laughs at his silliness but doesn’t hesitate before taking his hand and they both swing exaggeratedly as if they’re in a royal ball. Although the song is really romantic, they’re just fooling around and having fun. Ten minutes go by much faster with their little show.

“Rinse again?” Jungkook whines when Jimin tells him the next step. “So much rinse and not enough rod removal.”

“It’s close, baby, don’t worry,” he hushes.

When Jimin announces that it’s finally time to remove the rods, Jungkook sits restlessly. He can’t even keep his hands quiet and Jimin needs to swat them away all the time because the younger tries to free his hair, not caring about the end result. Takes a few minutes, but then finally all the rods are off and they both stare at Jungkook’s reflection in the mirror.

“Should I comb it?” Jungkook asks, tilting his hair to get a better look.

Jimin shakes his head. “You can’t, I can try to style it with my fingers. Tell me what you want.”

He tries his best to get the hair the way Jungkook describes and is happy when the younger seems to like the result. He does all kinds of poses in front of the mirror, checking the style from all angles and taking a few selfies, always zooming in on his hair and staring at the screen for much longer than necessary.

“I wasn’t expecting to like it so much,” he beams.

Jimin is putting away and washing everything that he used but he keeps a smile on his face because seeing Jungkook this happy just makes his heart get all warm. He needs to thank Seokjin for this, although he doesn’t know if the older did it thinking the result would be funny or if he actually pictured Jungkook like this, all waves and gorgeous as hell.

They both work on cleaning up the bathroom throwing away everything that needs to go in the trash and putting away what can be reused. Doesn’t take long until the bathroom is organized again and they prepare to go to bed since it’s around two in the morning. They’re definitely not going to sleep now, but they like to lie comfortably while talking, using their phones and sometimes watching a movie or sharing a late night snack.

As soon as Jungkook sends the message to Seokjin, the older returns with a video call, Taehyung by his side and both curious to see the result better. They all talk and joke around for almost an hour, none of them minding that it’s the middle of the night, when they get together they can definitely watch the sunrise together and still keep going after the sun is up in the sky.

The reaction to Jungkook’s new hair is very positive among his subscribers and Jimin’s viewers on Tiktok. Thousands of comments on instagram telling him how great he looks and how much the style suits him.

A week later Jimin enters the bathroom and sees Jungkook there, staring at the mirror in deep thought.

“What’s up, gorgeous?” He hugs Jungkook from behind and gets on his tiptoes to look at themselves in the reflection.

“Hmm, I don’t know,” he runs a hand through his own hair. “Just kind of getting tired of doing the same styles. What else can I do to make the perm look cool?”

Jimin smiles and looks at the sink, eyes searching for something specific and finally finding it near the comb and brush. He takes the hair tie and offers it to Jungkook.

“Why don’t you put in  a bun?” He suggests. “It’s long enough and it will look hot.”

Jungkook raises an eyebrow at him and accepts the black tie, grabbing a chunk of his hair and trying to tie it unsuccessfully, quickly growing frustrated and making Jimin laugh at his little pout he probably doesn’t even know he’s doing right now.

“Let me do it, baby,” he asks.

Jungkook sits on the edge of the bathtub and Jimin starts working on tying his hair in a cute little bun, leaving half of it undone and falling over his eyes, making him somehow look impossibly sexy and ridiculously cute. Jungkook seems happy with Jimin’s work.

“Can I try this on you?” He asks. “Your hair is long enough too.”

Jimin has never thought of putting his hair in a bun, but maybe it works so he just offers another tie to Jungkook and lets the younger experiment with his blonde hair. It’s a mess because he keeps pulling it up and then saying it’s not how he wants. Jimin just has fun watching him, not minding all the pulling and tying.

Takes around five minutes for Jungkook to decide that it’s good enough. It’s not as carefully done as his own that Jimin styled, but it’s still good. They look at themselves in the mirror and laugh.

“We look good in buns,” Jimin concludes.

“Agreed.”

Of course a ton of selfies later, they both sit on the couch, choosing which ones are the best to be posted, Jimin even starts a live on his Tiktok account. It doesn't last long since they just wanted to talk about their new hairstyles  and say hi to some viewers.

They don’t post many pictures, they always prefer to keep the special ones to themselves, their little box of memories saved in their phones and conversations, some even being printed and decorating their fridge and picture frames around the apartment. It’s the moments they always like to revisit and reminisce, each shaping their story and becoming a new piece of their safe haven.
