The Street Corner I Found My Soulmate

Summary:

In a world where everyone has a soulmate, there are several different types of bonds and base connections or ‘marks.’ Some people are born with soulmate tattoos, ranging from first words exchanged, to name, to matching pictures. Others have a different bond. Some people are born hearing their soulmate’s thoughts, or seeing their dreams- some even having the ability to meet inside of the dreamscape. It was unreasonable to say that every soul bond is unique, but there are a number of different ways two souls are connected.

Midoriya Izuku can feel the same mental sensations as his soulmate- emotions like happiness, sadness and even sometimes things like the heaviness that comes with sickness, or the dizzying feeling of, say, being spun around in a wheely chair- a pastime his soulmate enjoyed far too much for the farm hand’s agreement, seeing as he had to work through that.

The country boy didn’t quite care too much about his bond; although it was nice to sit back and feel the emotions of his soulmate, a fairly jovial person, he found, making it easy on Midoriya during those breaks. He had a duty to help his single mother, until she sent him to the city in the hopes of finding a better job for him.

Notes:

FINALLY!! Late af day three, but I finally finished a peice rip,,, here's to hopin I can crank out everything else. I'm going to try and work on days one and two eventually. I have a plan for day one and an opening for day two, but, alas, I still have depression rip...

Honestly, that summary wasn't the original summary I had prepared... apparently I made it too long in my docs, so I apologize if it sounds off at all.

Edit
I had finally gotten it down to the max character count, and went to save it as a draft and it wouldn't fucking let me, even though I had just double checked it before trying to draft. I've worked it down twice now, and if this doesn't cut it I'm gonna cry.
Another edit
It worked, but I'm not even going to /look/ at that summary ever again.

Work Text:

The cityscape was so loud to the emerald eyes of a country boy. The only thing that was midnight black was the ironically plain sky- the one he was so used to being filled with thousands of stars or the beaming light of the moon, but, no, it seemed the city had collected starlight greedily and condensed it into hundreds of fluorescent bulbs that threatened to blind anyone who had the unfortunate inability to close their eyes quick enough.

He was unsteady on his feet, wobbling slightly with lightheadedness, but he didn’t have the pleasure of being the intoxicated one. No, Midoriya Izuku had traveled to the city for a job interview and had gotten hopelessly lost… He wanted to feel bad for the, no doubt, near pounding headache his soulmate must have been feeling, but he was also bitter that he had to deal with it, despite not having anything to soothe it himself.

“I can be your soulmate for the night, for just one low price~”

Rolling his eyes, the young man ignored the flirting around him and desperately searched for a street sign or something that could lead him to the hotel he wanted to be at hours ago. Checking his phone, which would have been bright if the tapestry surrounding him wasn’t neon, Midoriya let out a sigh of defeat. He resigned that maybe his hopeless headache was the reason that his soulmate had gone out to begin with, but it was increasingly difficult to think with all of the waves going through his head.

Suddenly, everything turned warm.

Much like being enveloped in a blanket, the chill of the air disappeared- as did the sickening, swaying vertigo he had felt moments before. Maybe his soulmate had gone to sleep? Or at least gotten home? He couldn’t help but feel a pang of jealousy at that thought, letting out another heavy sigh as if his lungs were deflating.

With his eyes practically glued to the ground, Midoriya shouldn’t have been surprised when he collided with a wall. A bright red wall that fell backwards in front of him, giggling with the most beautiful melodic laughter he had ever heard…

So he definitely didn’t bump into a wall, but, rather, a one hundred and eighty something centimeter tall god of a man with broad shoulders, a mouthwatering jaw line, and everything he could have ever wanted in a guy wrapped up in a deep scarlet hoodie with bright red hair on top.

Blinking twice, Midoriya couldn’t help but feel laughter bubbling up within himself- uncontrollable as it spilled from his chest like a fountain. He, himself, didn’t feel too bemused from the situation even though the flush on the other male’s cheeks seemed to give away his state of something less than complete social sobriety.

For some indiscernible amount of time, they sat like that: on the ground across from each other, laughing like two school children- or better yet, two toddlers who were just learning the sound of their own voices. As cheesy as it was to say, Midoriya felt complete in that moment. He forgot about the pain of his feet and all of the irritation he felt in the past couple of hours. Hell, the country boy couldn’t even feel the discomfort from the unbearable stiffness in his glutes and legs from the cheap train seats.

“Oi! Dipshit! What’d I fuckin say about wandering off?” a loud, gruff voice cut them off, or at least it attempted to, pushing its way into the redhead’s personal space bubble, “I’m not picking your ass up if you end up in some rando fuckin alleyway, dickhead-”

“Who the fuck is this?”

Midoriya fought back chuckles under the scrutiny of the new person’s fiery eyes and raised blond brows, “S-sorry-” he stumbled, wondering where his anxiety was. Normally, he’d be an absolute flop under the glare of someone as intimidating as the blond looming over the both of them. Hell, he still didn’t know the name of the extremely attractive redhead he bumped into-

“You’re really pretty!” the stranger giggled, doubling over without once taking his eyes off of Midoriya.

“Oi, Shitty Hair! What kind of bullshit are you spewing, you stupid asshat!” the blond stomped forward and attempted to yank his friend up by the arm. Secondhand embarrassment was clear on his face as he wrestled with the redhead who was content on the ground and refused to stop staring at Midoriya’s freckles.

“Ugh this is why we don’t take you out anywhere,” garnet gems rolled in their sockets before darting over to Midoriya, “‘s usually not like this, so fuckin sorry or whatever. Fucker was complaining about a headache, next thing we know he’s-”

“Have I told you how gorgeous you are?” the redhead leaned forward with a smile made of pure sunshine, “Seriously so manly!”

“I- uh, t-thanks,” honestly, he felt so plain compared to the two clearly attractive males in front of him. They both had defined features, sharp clothing, and the glamour of the city sprinkled on top of them like some sort of magical glitter that made him weak in the knees. Midoriya, on the other hand, was a plain looking country boy. Sure, he had muscle from working every day, but he was more like a common rock in front of two polished gemstones.

“Are you embarrassed?” the redhead leaned forward, getting way too close for Midoriya’s already growing thin layer of comfort, “That’s really cute!”

“Oi! Asshat!” the blond moved to yank his friend back and out of the country boy’s face, but he fell back all on his own.

“Ah! Now I’m embarrassed!” he flopped back with an attractive grin and harmless laughter. It made Midoriya feel admittedly more at ease knowing that he wasn’t the only one flustered over the situation. Of course, that semblance of hope was taken away from him when the attractive stranger’s friend looked concerned, “You’re never embarrassed when you get like this. I’ve put up with way too much of your shit for you to cop out at the sight of one whole dude on the street at fuckin midnight.”

There was clearly a story behind his words, but Midoriya wasn’t even sure if he wanted to know- well, that was a lie; he did want to know. Midoriya’s curiosity was unquenchable in the best of circumstances… However, it was impossible to focus on that itch with what the pretty blond seemed to be implying.

“I… hah… hoo… I finally cauugh… caught… up… with you two!” a second blond stumbled over, panting heavily.

“And where the fuck were you?” the ash blond snapped at the third extension.

“I was trying to find you guys after someone-” he paused to glare at the redhead who was still grinning like an idiot over Midoriya, “Ran off, and you-” he turned to the other with an accusing huff, “Didn’t bother calling out to me before chasing after him!”

“Sheesh!” he let out a breath, putting his hands on his hips before the new stranger’s citrine eyes found Midoriya still sprawled out on the pavement of the bright but unbusy street, “Some friends, am I right? I hope they weren’t too rude to you. My name’s Kaminari-”

The man- Kaminari- extended a hand to Midoriya who was still on the ground, giving him a friendly grin and completely ignoring the hotheaded blond beside him snapping, “Oi! Fuckin’ Dunce Face, what do you mean by that shit?”

“Uh, thank you- My name’s Midoriya, and it’s really fine!”

“Oh! Right! I’m Kirishima!” the redhead immediately leapt to feet with an excitement that had Midoriya’s lips quirking up, which would have been cute if not for the sudden wave of dizziness that overtook them both. It didn’t go unnoticed by either of the blonds that they both stumbled over each other at the same time.

Kaminari couldn’t help but giggle a bit at the ordeal, “So, what has you out so late, Midoriya?”

“Ah, I kind of… well, I got lost on the way to my hotel from the train station…” he admitted sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head with his hand and trying not to notice ruby eyes beside of him going wide at the ruffle of fluff- or the small spark of excitement within himself that didn’t have any object of affection.

“Oh! So you’re from out of town! Explains why we haven’t seen your cute face around, huh?” Kaminari chidded lightheartedly. That made Midoriya a bit self conscious, if he was honest, wondering if all city boys were as flirtatious as those two and maybe that was just a standard greeting for them rather than meaningful words.

“Would you two stop that shit? You’re creepin’ him out, fuckwads!” the angrier blond snapped at his friends, smacking them both upside the head before extending his hand to Midoriya with a brash, “Bakugou. We’ll take you to the main street, but no farther, got it?” Bakugou barked like it was a command, making the country boy flinch a bit.

Kaminari noticed the discomfort on Kirishima’s face, which was what got him to act, “Hey, hey, Blasty, no need to fry the poor guy! Besides, if anyone’s makin’ him uncomfortable, I think it’s you.” Kirishima was almost never off-put by Bakugou’s actions, there was only one explanation.

Midoriya was Kirishima’s soulmate.

“No, I, uh, I’m fine, really!” the accused stood up, waving his hands in protest, “I wasn’t planning on asking for more! I should be able to find the hotel once I get to the main road. It’s just back home, we only really have a handful of roads- nothing like the city! It’s so expansive and big heh
I can’t even really get mad at myself for getting lost. It just kind of sucks, you know?” Midoriya steadily felt awe growing in his chest, and he couldn’t tell if it was his own astonishment towards the big city or the crimson irises he swore were being drowned out by the male’s pupils.

“Shit, you talk a lot… Well, whatever, hurry your ass up,” Bakugou mumbled the first part before commanding Midoriya to move while Kaminari bit back snickers.

“Ah! S-sorry…” the country boy fiddled with his hands, unable to really feel his own embarrassment under what he assumed was his soulmate’s joy.

“It’s fine! It’s fine! I think it’s cute!” Kirishima chuckled, with a grin from ear to ear. Somehow, Midoriya couldn’t even bring himself to worry about the idea that maybe the redhead was laughing at him, but it was a pleasant feeling- one the forest haired male had to fight back the urge to giggle, himself, even.

“Cute my ass…” Bakugou grumbled, earning a smack on the tit from Kaminari who was shooting him a knowing grin.

Kirishima and Midoriya ended up chatting the entire way to the street. Of course, Kaminari jumped in as well on occasion, insistent on making peace with the country boy that they all suspected was the redhead’s soulmate. Bakugou even jumped in a few times; although, most all of his quips were rude or sarcastic. They wrote it off as part of his charm.

Once they inevitably got to the main street and made sure Midoriya had stable fucking directions to get to his hotel, Kirishima beamed, offering the cute farm hand his number and a chance to hang out later on- something Midoriya would happily indulge when his body didn't ache like a bitch and he wasn't about to fall asleep on his feet.
