Work Text:
Abbacchio stared up at the sky, distantly aware that his leg was just gone. Someone was shouting his name, begging him to stay conscious, and Abbacchio turned his head slightly to stare at whoever was there.
Oh.
Buccellati.
Abbacchio lifted his arm, though it felt like so much dead weight, and gently cupped Buccellati's cheek in a numb hand. The blood loss must have really been getting to him because Abbacchio smiled.
"Leone, don't you dare die on me," Buccellati said, catching Abbacchio's fingers in his own. "Sticky Fingers!" he snapped, his stand manifesting with its name.
There was the ever-weird sensation of pulling, of zipping, and Abbacchio couldn't really feel his leg, though he was distantly aware that it was attached.
"Should go," he mumbled. He gave Buccellati a tiny shove, and Buccellati just gripped his hand tighter.
"Not without you," Buccellati said. "I haven't left you behind before, and I'm not doing it now." Abbacchio huffed, eyes sliding closed. "Stay awake, stronzo; I didn't pull you from that alley for you to die like this."
"Bastardo," Abbacchio mumbled, but he opened his eyes anyway. His breath hitched when the horizon heaved, and pain exploded in his stomach region. "What the fuck," he wheezed.
"I can't do any more for you here," Buccellati said. Abbacchio realized that Buccellati had him in a fireman's carry across his shoulder.
"Should just leave me," Abbacchio said, head hanging. He'd be fine later but for now, he was just fucking exhausted.
"I will never," Buccellati repeated. The words were getting into dangerous territory, and Abbacchio let his eyes slip closed. "Abbacchio, stay with me." It was like this was the first time Abbacchio had lost a limb and Buccellati had put it back on him. "Abbacchio? Leone!"
Abbacchio blinked back into consciousness in what appeared to be Buccellati's apartment, on what looked like his Capo's couch.
"Bru..no?" Abbacchio wheezed.
"Good, you're awake." Buccellati gently brushed Abbacchio's hair from his face. "You're in my apartment. Safe."
"What happened?" Abbacchio's body was heavy, and he didn't particularly feel like fighting it.
"You blacked out. Narancia took out the Stand User that tore off your leg." Abbacchio hummed. Sounded right, honestly. "You had the worst injury."
"You carried me," Abbacchio whispered.
Buccellati smiled gently. "I did." He traced his fingertips along Abbacchio's cheekbone. "It was a clean injury; Sticky Fingers zipped it back up fine, but not before you lost a lot of blood." Abbacchio hummed again. "Get some rest, Leone," Bruno said. That sounded more like Abbacchio's friend than his Capo, so he closed his eyes. "I'll watch out for you."
Abbacchio let himself drift off, knowing he was safe.
