Work Text:
"Wah! Lao Qiao, this watch on your wrist looks new!" Lu Yao raised Qiao Chusheng's wrist to his eye level and examined the watch. The watch has a leather strap with clean glass covering the hands of the clock. It looked simple but it has a luxury aura around it.
"It's a gift from a friend." Chusheng took his hand back and wiped the watch clean. Lu Yao, who everyone knows as the luxury lover, leaned closer, trying to get another glimpse of the watch.
They were the only ones on Lu Yao's living room. Youning had a appointment with a informer and she had to write her article as well. Seems like Youning will not be here for a day, Lu Yao thought. This made him a little happy but also lonely. After many attempts of trying to look at the watch, Lu Yao grew tired and laid back on the couch.
He was wearing a dress shirt, three buttons down and trousers that he continuously wore for two days straight. His vest was sitting on the back of the chair in the dinning table. Chusheng doesn't mind it at all. He thinks it's understandable since Lu Yao didn't get a chance to go home for two days. They just finished a murder case after two days of working nonstop in the Concession Police Station. Thanks to Lu Yao's deductions and Chusheng's orders, they caught the murderer, red handed. He was just about to kill another victim in an alleyway, not far from the Port.
"Lu Yao, how's your head? Still dizzy?" Lu Yao shook his head.
"Nah, it's okay. Inspector Qiao, I told you to not worry." Lu Yao, rubbed his nape, chuckling as he do so, "It's not serious or anything." As he settle back down, he closed his eyes and breath evenly and slowly.
Chusheng thought he would lose Lu Yao during today's chase. Lu Yao is important to him now.
Screw being an Inspector, screw being beating up by his enemies, if it means Lu Yao will be safe, he'll sacrifice everything he has.
San-tu was about to submit to unconsciousness. Chusheng picked him up bridal style and carried him off to his bedroom.
It's already half past nine.
Chusheng changed Lu Yao's clothes into his favourite blue silk bed robe and tucked him to bed. Youning was still not in sight.
Guess she's still writing until now..., Chusheng thought. He grabbed an extra blanket from the cabinet and fixed the sofa. He grabbed a pillow and laid out the blanket. He was gonna crash here tonight. It's already too late to drive, anyway.
"No... no... don't..." It was early morning when Chusheng heard the pleading. He rubbed his head, trying to sit up and searched for the root of the sound. As he shook his head he heard it again and again.
"No... don't... hurt..." He was now worried. He quickly looked at Lu Yao's room and stood up. The Inspector then ran towards Lu Yao and sat on his soft white bed.
Lu Yao, who look like a child that has rolled around his bed, was in tears. His cheeks were tainted red hue and he was shivering like he just came out of the cold rain. He was also clenching tight on his blanket. Chusheng didn't understand at first but after a few short moments, he heard something that made him go soft on the detective.
"Chusheng... don't... hurt... him" A tear then made it way down to Lu Yao's now red cheek.
"He's... he's precious... t-to me..." Lu Yao clenched tighter on his blanket, making his knuckles turn white. Chusheng was heart struck. He didn't know Lu Yao would say such a thing.
Nor did he know that their little detective cares for him.
Chusheng smiled. He took Lu Yao's hand and squeezed it gently, wiping off some of the tears falling from his soft skin. The Inspector went ahead and put Lu Yao's little hand, along with his, to his heart. It's like he's saying...
Hear my heartbeat? I also care so please don't cry...
He held Lu Yao close to his heart. Lu Yao is his best friend, his partner...
His dear San-tu
He cares for Lu Yao more than anything. He would give him everything just to see him light up and give him his radiant and sweet smile.
It's almost eleven at night. Lu Yao had quiet down for a few minutes now. He decided to let his hand go and let San-tu sleep some more. As he was about to stand up, he felt a tug on his shirt. San-tu had his eyes closed and his head looking at Chusheng.
Chusheng turned back and tucked his hand under the white blanket. He leaned in and kissed Lu Yao's forehead, tints of red hiding behind his ears.
"I'll do my best to protect you, so sleep well and let me do the work, Lu-xiansheng."
