Work Text:

Soft, orange light pulsed across the ceiling, cast there from the fire. There was a gate meant to go around the bow of it, now unused where it sat under the still-soaked clothes hanging from the side of the mantel. Jotaro had intended to just leave them on the ground only for Noriaki to pick them up. He didn’t do so with his hands. They’d already scurried to the relative warmth under his arms. Instead, he’d used Hierophant, the stand appearing more like a garland as it draped its glittering body in front of the fire.

They’d only just made it to the cabin with half-hearted intentions of maybe getting in some time on the slopes. The intent of this little trip was to ski, after all. They were looking to try something new.

It appeared that staying in a cabin was as “new” as they’d get, being that they’d barely made it that far when the weather turned for the worse. Jotaro wasn’t entirely sure they’d gotten the car to the proper parking spot, but any worry about that was struck from his mind when Noriaki barked through the beginning storm for him to leave it where it was. It had only been maybe half a mile up what was left of the road from where they’d abandoned the car, though it felt like forty by the time they were done trudging through the ice.

The first sign the feeling was returning to Noriaki’s legs was the bite of pain that filled them, starting as an annoying tingle in his feet before moving up to a jabbing pain in his joints and overall burning discomfort in the chilled flesh of his legs.

Jotaro slid down next to him when he started to hiss at the sensation, careful not to put his leg against Noriaki’s without warning. At the same time, he smoothly pulled the blanket he’d been using to cover Noriaki as well, instead of moving the one from behind his boyfriend to cover both of their legs.

As warmth began to seep back through his body, he let out a pleasured hum and laid his head against Jotaro’s shoulder, prompting the other to better curl beside him as well as lean against the foot of the couch.

They’d said nothing since they made it inside, taking in the comfortable silence between one another.

Then Noriaki’s eyes found the dark grey of the window, large chunks of snow building up against the glass as often as they did shatter upon hitting it from the force and speed of the wind. That same wind howled and whistled around their cabin, prompting him to lower himself more snugly into the crook of Jotaro’s arm.

“It’s only noon,” he groaned, eyes flicking up to look at Jotaro. “It looks like it’s midnight already.”

Jotaro grunted something between acknowledgment and agreement. “Makes me tired,” he murmured against the crown of Noriaki’s head.

Then Jotaro was pressing a kiss to the back of his boyfriend’s ear that coaxed a pleased hum out of him. His nose was cold as he further burrowed into Noriaki’s hair. Warm, steady breathing worked its way down his undershirt as Jotaro came around to kiss at his collarbone.

Noriaki hummed again, bringing up his hand to pat at the side of Jotaro’s face as if he were patting a horse.

“You wanna sit on a floor all night, or do you want to move to the bed?”

The responding grumble was enough of an answer. Had he chosen the former, Jotaro would have simply gone back to resting his face in the crook of Noriaki’s neck. As it was, he began to stand, only to yoink the blanket out from behind Noriaki and over his head as he started toward the ladder built into the cabin wall.

It was a two-room cabin with the main area that worked as a combination bedroom, living space, and kitchenette. The other room was the bathroom. However, there was another bed in a loft area of the cabin, which they fully intended on ignoring both for its lack of accessibility and distance from the fire.

That was why Jotaro climbing up there surprised Noriaki, and he vocalized as such when he came to the base of the ladder with the remaining blanket around his shoulders.

“Jotaro, we’re sleeping down here, remember?”

“Ah huh,” he said, Star Platinum’s visage floating down from the loft to stand next to Noriaki.

The stand took him by the arm, shifting him wordlessly yet carefully to the right. He disappeared before Noriaki could ask any other questions, only to be replaced by a pile of blankets and pillows that jumped one right after the other onto the exact spot where Noriaki had been standing. So quickly and cartoonishly did they pile grow that he found himself gently laughing into the back of his hand long before Jotaro himself appeared, kneeling with either hand wrapped around the loft’s edge.

“That look like enough?” he called down.

“Plenty,” Noriaki said. “You know we’re going to need room to sleep, right?”

“It’s a big bed.”

“We’re big men.”

“Don’t worry about it.” He cooly lept down, using Star Platinum to not only guide his descent but to delicately brace his fall. “If there’s not enough room for both of us,” he turned over his shoulder, “you can just sleep on top of me.”

Noriaki tried his damndest not to laugh, starting with a few sputters that soon turned into a peal of loud, honking laughter that couldn’t be described honestly as anything other than ugly. Still, that truly heinous noise brought a faint blush to Jotaro’s face as he turned around.

“Come on,” he said, “I’m getting cold, already.”

“Alright, alright,” Noriaki said, bringing Hierophant out to help Star Platinum with gathering the sheets and pillows off of the floor to fluff up the bed set up for them.

It was an admittedly lovely bed with so many blankets already wrapped around it that it caused the top of the bed to round out, almost like a squared dome. The top one was of a faux fur. Its resistant texture, almost sticky to the touch, was enough to have them wordlessly agree to instead use it as an insulator for their bedding rather than a blanket. Under that was a heavy quilt, and a thick, flannel sheet. Then there was only a cool, downy comforter that Jotaro peeled back to reveal the bedsheet.

Noriaki sat back and watched all of this, silent in his knowledge that Jotaro had very particular opinions about the bedding. Silent until Jotaro began moving the bed, that is.

“Jotaro,” he said, eyes narrowing, “we won’t even be in bed that long while we’re here.”

“One night is long enough,” Jotaro said as he and Star Platinum placed the bed against the wall.

It wasn’t much longer before every blanket and pillow dug up in the small cabin was laid out with just enough room to cradle the two men. Jotaro was in first, nodding for Noriaki to join him.

He didn’t give in so easily, turning on heel and pulling a hand up to the side of his face.

“You know, I think I’ll actually do some reading first before I go to bed,” he said coyly, his tone provoking as he shifted away from the bed entirely. “Maybe see if we can get some wifi up here and try to- ahk!”

He was cut off by Star Platinum’s hands digging under his arms, hovering him over the bed for Jotaro to pull up the covers and better situate him as he was lowered down. Finally, he was lying back against the pillows and sheets, Jotaro rolling onto his side with his head propped up on one hand and the other laying almost weightlessly across Noriaki’s middle.

“Why, Jotaro, do you forbid me access to knowledge? To the outside world?” he asked, voice tense with mock-shock and dismay.

Jotaro rolled further on top of Noriaki, the arm that had been snaked around his hip now propped up on the other side of him while the one under Jotaro’s head was now supporting him from right next to Noriaki’s face.

“As if we need you getting any smarter.”

Though his expression remained flat, there was a smile behind his eyes. He closed those eyes as he moved down, lowering himself onto his elbow as Noriaki lifted his chin to meet him, mouths closing together once before he allowed Jotaro’s bottom lip to slide out from between his own. Then he was bringing both of his hands up, one curling around Jotaro’s head to pull him down as Noriaki tangled his fingers in the dark curls along the nape of his neck. The other moved down, pushing up the edge of his thin shirt so that he could feel along his flank and the broad muscles of his back. His hand traced the contours, finding the shape of Jotaro as the man himself laid his hips down more at Noriaki’s side to get a better angle. He moved his body up and down Noriaki’s body rhythmically, deepening the kiss with each rotation of his form.

Lingering suction between them filled the room with a small, wet noise when they finally pulled apart, a bright smile blooming across Noriaki’s face as he threaded a lock of hair behind Jotaro’s ear. He nipped lightly at the inside of his lips to steady himself as he brought the hand under Jotaro’s shirt around his torso to instead lay against his chest.

“Are we really going to waste the first day of our vacation in bed?” he asked.

Jotaro leaned down to nuzzle along Noriaki’s neck. “Not a waste if we do it right.”
