"excuse me, sir. can my boyfriend pet your dog?"
as soon as the words had left touya's mouth, akito knew he was fucked. to be fair, the dog was a tiny corgi - it didn't carry much of a menacing aura - but a dog all the same. despite the stranger with said corgi giving them the go ahead, he still hung back, unsure. crossing his arms, he glared at the other boy with as much malice as he could muster (which wasn't that much, if he were to be honest) and sighed. "i'm not petting the stupid dog," he snapped.
"akito, you can't watch air bud without having a nervous breakdown. pet the dog," deadpanned his companion. an awkward, albeit not that long, silence passed between them. finally, akito huffed and walked towards the little corgi, crouching down in front of it and extending his hand tentatively. the puppy yipped excitedly and licked it, attempting to jump on akito's lap and failing due to the leash attached to its collar. still unsure, he reached further and settled his hand atop the animal's head, gently scratching behind its ears. a small smile spread across his features as he became more confident with the dog, eventually scooting forward to pick it up and put it in his lap without its leash getting in the way.
while akito was distracted, touya moved to crouch down beside him, deciding that he wanted to play with the puppy too. upon noticing this, akito gave his boyfriend an excited grin, his eyes seeming to sparkle in a way they never had before. "touya, look! i - i'm actually petting it!" he exclaimed, his joy radiating off of him. apparently, this feeling was infectious, as touya felt himself cracking a smile at the sight before him.
"yeah," he said. "you are. i'm proud of you."
